Sal’s is a must visit tavern in Western New York. It’s your typical old time neighborhood tavern with all the bar food staples that many in this area have been enjoying for a long time. Their wings are different than most you find at other bars or pizzerias. They are smaller and more crispy but just as delicious. I recommend the medium-bbq wings. Chicken fingers, fries, onion rings, pizza logs, and other fried food goodness are also available. If you’re looking for a good bite to eat with friends in a low key, off the beaten path location, Sal’s is definitely worth checking out.

Can I vote Sal’s the #1 place to get a quesadilla in WNY? Their wings are awesome, and also worthy of devouring, but the chicken quesadilla… OMG. I think they use butter instead of oil to grill the tortilla. Also, the amount of cheese they use makes you want to praise a dairy cow. Anyway, Sal’s itself is pretty awesome; low key bar in the heart of Depew. Don’t come here if you like fancy because this place is anything but. However, its perfect for those who enjoy a local bar with regular patrons, domestic brews and, of course, amazing quesadillas.

Wings are great, staff pleasant. Wonderful combination of all ages! A really fun place. Like a «Cheers’ for all. I recommend Sal’s!

Sal’s is a neighborhood bar, barely able to find. Seems most customers are right from the neighborhood. We go here for wings every now and then because the wife loves them. They are not your typical buffalo wing but more of a breaded wing. They are good but not the buffalo wing I crave. I give it 4 stars because the service is great. The food flies out of the kitchen and the beer is cold. Pizza logs are really good as well.

Was searching for buffalo wings during an overnight stay near the Buffalo airport. Found this place and was greatly surprised. Tiny neighborhood bar literally on a little residential street. Waitress was very very nice. She literally called several liquor stores for us because we were looking for some alcohol to take back to the room. They were all closed but she went out of her way to be nice. Oh and the wings were actually really really good. And the«medium» Buffalo style were plenty hot. And I like hot stuff. Great neighborhood bar. Cheap beer. Great wings.

Not to sound like a hipster, but Anchor Bar is so commercial, man… Seriously, I asked the desk clerk at the hotel when I first came here six years ago where he went for wings, and he turned me on to Sal’s. I’ve come here at least once during every trip since… definitely the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve had them all over Buffalo, and all over the country.

Sals is home to probably the best chicken wings and pizza logs around. This place is the meaning of neighborhood dive bar. A house converted to a bar/restaurant. Staff is always great. I suggest the honey Cajun wings and the medium are wonderful too.

I’m an ex-Buffalonian(logged 30 years) back visiting and went here based upon The Buffalo News saying this place has some of the best wings. Size of wings: ridiculously small — reminds me of BW3s. Blue cheese: absolutely terrible — the kind you get in a city outside of Buffalo that’s trying to do wings but has no clue. Sauce: pretty good no problems there. Liked the bar… Very Buffalo friendly. Lots of locals. Down to earth. Just didn’t like the food. I probably wouldn’t have even mentioned the wing size but I was so annoyed by the blue cheese. I mean seriously blue cheese goes with wings like peanut butter and jelly go together — to serve that in Buffalo is inexcusable. If you are from out of town looking to try wings skip this place it doesn’t represent.

Very cosy small neighborhood bar. I have no experience with the food because it opens at 3PM and is too late for lunch. The menu is all chicken and has 1 beef on weck choice. Takeout business seems active. there are 6 beers on tap and many bottle choices. Prices are well below the big time bar prices, which is great. The Tuesday and Thursday bartender is the owner. She is friendly and attentive. The ‘locals’ who are there are very friendly and easily engage in fun conversations.

Sal’s was good a few years ago when the wings were big. Don’t get me wrong, they’re tasty, but they’re basically a good sauce put on much smaller KFC wing. They’re breaded but very tiny. I mean very very tiny! The best breaded wings ever were Hooter’s wings with 3 mile island sauce. These are not Hooter’s wings. If you want great wings stick with your usual place. Too many great wing places around to mention but Stricker’s in West Seneca and Cole’s are the best I’ve ever had.

Sal actually stands for the Salad that you should order instead of the wings because the wings are really, really not impressive. I know a lot of people love them though, and these things are a matter of taste. They’re more along the lines of Bar Bill wings, which are awesome but not my fave… only way smaller, even more dry, and not so tasty. In my opinion, the type of wings served here is past its Sal-By date. These are supposed to be some of the best wings around. I went here with a good friend and to say they were underwhelming would be a massive understatement. I didn’t like them at all… they were tiny… it didn’t help that we got the wrong flavours but that wasn’t because we ordered them wrong… we were fairly specific and the waitress messed up the order. That’s okay though. Price-wise, they’re more expensive than most wing places, and the fact that the wings are baby sized and miniature and not juicy or wet at all just added to my misery. In fact the only reason I wouldn’t give this a 1 or 2 is because my friend was kind enough to take me there, I don’t think he was overly impressed either, but he was great company so there was that. The service was pretty good too so that is a plus. The atmosphere in the place is very authentic, it’s a true back street Buffalo tavern and I like that. Also there is the fact that it’s a beloved family-owned business and while I didn’t like the wings at all, they weren’t inedible(Buffalo Wild Wings microwaved wings, anyone?). So it’s a M.O.R. rating from me here.

My boyfriend is a Lancaster native, and when I found out about Sal’s and he «offered» to take me there, I yelled at him for waiting 2.5 years!!! His excuse, «Nicole, it isn’t really YOUR type of place. It’s divey, and nothing fancy». Fine, fine, I will give him the benefit of the doubt; I am picky when it comes to atmosphere. But if I’m prepared for«divey/hole in the wall», then I can handle it… gracefully! So we geared up last Sunday with his mother, and headed to Sal’s. Less than 5 minutes from our driveway to Sal’s…seriously, I’ve never been here?! Pulling up, you definitely would never know it was there, because you are smack dab in the middle of a quiet, residential neighborhood. We headed inside, and I was actually more impressed with the atmosphere, based on the picture he painted. Divey — yes, hole in the wall — not at all! There was one woman on duty, running the whole show. She was the bartender, our waitress, and the server. I can only assume she was not cooking the food, because that would’ve been merely impossible! I was shocked to find that they had Southern Tier on tap(yay!!). We ordered the sweet potato fries, garlic and parm wings, and the medium wings. The waitress explained to us that the medium were a medium/bbq. Everything was delish, minus the sweet potato fries — I would skip those. They were already covered in the honey/sugar mixture which I felt made them soggy and ruined them. The wings are wings from another world. They are smaller, almost resembling the size of «boneless wings», but they are covered in an extra deep-fried breading. The medium were our favorite. Prices were decent and on par with the amount of food you receive. Can’t wait to go back to Sal’s…now that I know they are in my neighborhood :)

Sal’s Lounge is a hard to find neighborhood dive bar that serves some decent wings. I wouldn’t say they are the best, but they are definitely the crispiest and most breaded-wings that I’ve ever tried. Rumor has it that they used to serve the largest chicken wings in all of Buffalo, but recent supplier issues caused them to downsize ‘em. Curious to try these wings, I came with a fellow Unilocaler and we split an order of 10 wings. As you come in, don’t expect a hostess… just seat yourself and someone will probably come over. Our waitress was super nice and helpful. She let us split our single order of wings and we received half Medium(which was more like Medium BBQ) and half Garlic Parmesan. The wings were served with some blue cheese and a bag of baby carrots. There were like 14 served to our order which was unexpected(we only expected 10). Their medium sauce is more of a BBQ-style and I wanted a bit more of a kick. I would prefer more of the traditional style wings, although these were tasty… the side of blue cheese was definitely not house made and the $ 1 variety you would find at Wal-Mart. You could definitely taste the difference and the bagged carrots show the place to be more of a divey style. All in all, I just didn’t like the wings that much, but definitely appreciate the neighborhood-feel of this pub. Check it out! You may like the wings more than me!

This is my second review of Sal’s Lounge, and I am only downgrading because the size of the wings has decreased noticeably. They used to serve the largest wings that could be found pretty much anywhere. But no more. The taste, quality and service remain outstanding, but the truly enormous size of the wings that they served in the past used to kick Sal’s over the top to a 5 star rating. Evidently there are no longer any suppliers who will provide them with the humongous wings any more. I have been told they now give you more wings to make up for it. Still, those huge –and no longer available– wings were a wonder to behold. I lament their passing. Despite the reduction of wing size, I heartily recommend Sal’s wings for both locals and out-of-towners.

I lived in buffalo for a brief two years. In that time I went to almost all of the wing places locals suggested… which added up to well over 40 different wing places. Sal’s will always be #1 in my book. I was hesitant to post a review as it is a well kept secret, but it should be known that in Buffalo, Sal’s is by far the best choice for wings. So shhhhh keep it a secret!

This place is a hidden gem buried in a Depew neighborhood. Best wings I’ve ever had. They are enormous, Flintstones sized monstrosities. If you like crispy wings, this is your place. The wings have a light breading which absorbs the wing sauce and adds to the crispness. Reasonable prices, cheap drinks, & Saranac on tap. Friendly service, I felt right at home. Do yourself a favor and check this joint out. I highly recommend it.

Buffalo’s best kept secret for wings. I also recommend their sweet potato fries and deep fried mushrooms. If it’s busy, please remember they’re a small staff and can’t always get to you quickly.

Have been coming here for almost 25 years, and even many times when back in town after leaving WNY11 years ago. People come to Sals for the wings, but these are not typical wings, ie) what you find a Duffs/Anchor bar, etc. They have a coating and a really unique sauce. We always get the medium which has a little bbq in it and a little heat. The majority of WNY’ers do not know about this place. For years I have been bringing family and friends from WNY, none who had ever heard of Sals, and after they tried the wings they were hooked. We just went last night and they were great. Awesome fries too! Truly one of WNY’s hidden gems. Mike from Raleigh, NC

If your looking for the Best wings around, and i should know i’ve been sampling wings from all over buffalo since the early 80’s. Then this little neighborhood pub is worth checking out. Others like Duffs and Bar-Bil say they have the hottest wings in town but don;t let them fool you Sals is the place to go if you like big meaty juicy wings. Its a no nonsense place sports on the flat panels around the bar. Eat em hot at Sal’s if you Dare!
