Everything is excellent! I got pork chop and I love it! The price is reasonable with the portion. The service is top notch. Don’t forget to save the room for macadamia turtle pie. It’s a must!!! Yummmm

Had a couple of the Moscow mules which was perfect for a 90 degree day and the main course was lamb chops which were done just the way I like it. I personally don’t really like their presentation of the raw meat tray to describe what they are cooking… Its always very loud in the restaurant and be warned about their GIGANTIC desserts, you will need an army to finish them :)

They heard my friends British accent and didn’t serve him because the douche waiter was still bitter about the revolutionary war. Do not come if you are wearing a red coat.

Delicious understates how yummy this place is. The sizes are enormous. The service superb. The food was excellent. It is expensive but well worth the money. We came back twice during our short stay in Chicago.

Wonderful. Be aware that sides ordered are HUGE and meant to be shared by two, such as delicious mushrooms and baked potato. I had a steak sandwich and it was very good– even reheated well next day. Cocktail shrimp are By the piece and HUGE. I would definitely go back.

I’m an advocate lover of Hugo’s frog bar! One of my favorite restaurants ever! This specific location is great! I’ve always had top notch service from extremely professional waiters/waitresses they’re not overbearing nor inattentive. Gets quite congested due to it being located inside the casino, but I’ve never had to wait for a table. Crab cakes and hot mayo sauce is a must-have! The slices of cake are ENORMOUS!!! It is quite expensive, but worth the cost(in my opinion).

Great spot for a business lunch. I wish I would have remembered how bland their Caesar salad is.

The food was awesome. Service was outstanding. But. This is basically a restaurant attached to a sports bar attached to a casino. It was too loud to have a normal conversation, even in the back room in the corner. So despite the food being fantastic, a big part of dining is the ability to share the experience with your companions. That was not really possible because of the noise.

My wife and I dined at Hugo’s on a Friday night near peak time. It was a bit of an annoyance to start the night by waiting in the casino line to be carded, before stepping a few feet into the casino purely for the purpose of getting to Hugo’s. When we arrived, we were seated near a TV playing a fireplace recording, which I thought was really strange ambiance for an upscale steakhouse. Service was very, very prompt. One of those where you wonder if the promptness is more for the purpose of turning tables than for the benefit of the customers. We started with calamari, crab cakes, and brussels sprouts. The calamari was quite good — topping what we’ve had in east-coast and west-coast cities better known for their seafood. The crab cakes were a bit bland, but I have no complaint about the quality of the crab meat, I think it was something else about the preparation. The brussels sprouts, with bits of pork mixed in, were my favorite. We had ordered our entrees midway through appetizers, having already had three check-ins by our waiter by that point, and as we finished our appetizers we were quite surprised to see our steak and lobster roll entrees arrive simultaneous to the clearing of the appetizers. I prefer, and based on other steakhouse experiences I’ve presumed that others prefer, a more relaxed dining pace to savor the experience of what promised to be a memorable meal. The W.R. Chicago cut was prepared exactly as ordered, and was delicious alongside a twice-baked potato. My wife’s lobster roll was«just ok» — we’ve more typically seen lobster rolls with large chunks of lobster rather than finely-shredded lobster where the dressing can end up dominating the taste. Summary: so-so on ambiance, excellent calamari and steak, ultra-prompt service(I’ve never said this before, but«too prompt» for my preference).

Best Crab Cakes EVER! We planned to stop at Hugo’s for lunch to have their amazing Crab Cakes. We’d had their crab cakes before at the downtown Chicago location a couple years back. Hugo’s Des Plaines at the Rivers Casino did not disappoint. I’ve never eaten anything else at Hugo’s but next time, I’ll step out and order a crab cake«and» something else. Maybe shrimp :)

Oh casino steakhouse how I love you! My husband and I have been here about 10 times now and every single time we remark on the kind, very knowledgeable staff. Everyone from the host to the manager is always concerned with giving the best level of customer service and very fast at getting you what ever you need. I was even having trouble opening a new bottle of catsup and the busboy was at the table to help me before I could even ask my husband! The best item here you have to try is a wonderful appetizer crabmeat avocado. It has a creamy and slightly tangy tarragon dressing that brightens the dish and adds to the already silky avocado. The crab is always buttery and delicious. It really is a great starter. The other items are basic steakhouse favorites, huge steaks. A great $ 13.00 cheeseburger that can not be beat, seabass and large sides.

Casino steakhouse pretty much defines this place, a perfect example of its type. You come here to treat yourself like a winner. Money is no object. The décor is understated but plush, lighting is low, booths in the dining room are spacious and comfortable, and the frenzied casino action is a world away. Your white-coated waiter arrives to serve you while busboys hover with assorted bread and pitchers of water. The waiter Tom could not have been more friendly, and his comments and suggestions were spot-on and welcome. It was an early dinner and I was truly not that hungry, so over-sized steaks and chops were out. Not a problem, because a perfectly smooth Ketel One martini with a couple of olives could serve as a light appetizer, followed by one of the fish offerings. In my case it was grilled whitefish served on a plank with a mound of mashed and a grilled tomato and onion salad. Everything was tasty and well made. Let’s put it this way – out on the casino floor you may gamble and rely on luck, but once you enter Hugo’s for food and drink it’s a sure thing. You win.

This is located in the casino so 21 and over(just so you know). We were gambling before a concert nearby one night and made reservations here. The service is very friendly! I put myself in charge of ordering as I usually do. We shared the filet sliders(delicious), mac and cheese, wedge salad and something else for the life of me I cant remember. For me the sliders and wedge salad were the winners. My BF did enjoy the mac and cheese though. We continued drinking pretty heavily in here and had a hefty bill. Its not cheap(obviously). Its a great value though considering how much food you get and quality.

I’ve been wanting to try Hugo’s for a really long time. We come to the casino pretty often(maybe once a month?) and have never stopped in, until recently. We came in very very late on a Friday night and were seated in the dining room right away(I would’ve been happy also sitting at one of the high-tops in the bar, or just at the bar.) Our server was friendly and knowledgeable and did not seem annoyed that we sat for dinner at about 10pm, potentially hindering him from getting to go home. We split the wedge salad, 22 oz porterhouse, a side of sauteed mushrooms and a twice baked potato. Everything was excellent, except for the potato, which left me wanting something… else. It was just okay. The steak was cooked perfectly and they were kind enough to slice it for us. The mushrooms were nice, not overpowering like I have seen from other steakhouses. The salad was great, not too much dressing, just right. I would absolutely return to Hugo’s for a special occasion meal!

ABSOLUTELYAMAZING! Recently visited with friends for a birthday celebration. Staff was incredible, very informative and understanding. The ambiance is nice and this location is located inside the new River’s Casino. The crab rangoon is delightful and loaded with creamy crab meat.(not your typical cream cheese feel). HIGHLYRECOMMENDED The ceaser salad is very light and refreshing. The Porter house was perfectly cooked and by far THEBESTSTEAK I’VEEVERHAD! Not to mention that Gibsons’s has their own USDA rating!!! I had mine medium and it was cooked to perfection. The halibut was prepared(I asked for jalapenos)… The fish was a tad bit over cooked and that his lead to my 4 star rating but overall worth a try. The only pasta that they have is shells and they will work with you between the alfredo and the«red» sauce. The red sauce was actually fairly spicy which to my surprise was AWESOME! Alfredo sauce was a bit oily but extremely creamy and tasteful. For sides I recommend the whipped mashed potatoes which was fluffy and mouth watering. I also recommend the lobster mac and cheese… TONS of lobster meat with a slightly spicy kick with the homestyle mac and cheese feel. I cant wait to go back!!!

Sat at the bar — ordered a bottle of wine along with tuna tartare, salmon sliders, and seared tuna salad. He tartare was a bit too heavy on the mayo — which was a shame as the tuna was super fresh! Seared tuna salad rocked the house! Awesome dressing !! And a great portion! The blackened salmon sliders were off the hook good! So fresh — yum-o!!! We will be back!

Seriously? A restaurant this good tucked inside the Rivers Casino? Makes me want to break all my rules about«no casinos» and move this place to the top of my list. This Hugo’s is kind of a cross between a Gibson’s and a Hugos. I expected seafood to be the star and yet they bring out the show stopper steaks at the beginning of your meal to tell you what you could be eating($ 100 bone in steak anyone?) We had a large group and started first with drinks in the bar. This would be a great bar to meet friends in as there is a live piano player and some really great bartenders pouring some amazing drinks! I could have stayed here longer but our table was calling. We got a great table and I really liked that the manager, Marc, came by to say hi and to welcome us to his restaurant. The place was packed but the servers took it all in stride. In fact our server was great, I only wish I could remember his name as he kept everything moving along, our wine glasses full and even made suggestions when we decided we were going to share instead of ordering 5 individual meals. He assembled a sampling fresh seafood platter with fresh oysters(east and west coast), jumbo shrimp and some type of lobster with spicy mayo. Next up was one of those giant steaks sliced in the kitchen which made it easy to share, and a giant mound of crab legs that were some of the meatiest I have had in awhile. They also cut the knuckles apart which made it super easy to share. Add in some sides like mushrooms and spinach and we had a feast. And of course you have to have one of the giant desserts that Gibsons is famous for. This is not a cheap date, I think with a couple bottles of wine our bill was around $ 650. But the quality of the food, the ambiance all coupled with some fantastic service made it worth it. Hard to believe that this«casino hating girl» will be back. But that’s just how good this place is. Maybe I can slip through the casino part quickly and just turn my back to the door where the«ping pinging» will be overcome by the piano player and the glass of fine wine in my hand. See you at Hugo’s!
