It’s really slipped. Prices are WAY up, counter service is indifferent. Food isn’t all that great after all. Better places around. $ 6 chicken went to $ 8. $ 15 for shish-ke-bob at a fast food place? Also I noticed, they make prolific use of the microwave. No more.

Surprised by low reviews. I had a Philly steak sandwich and it was s good as any place in Philadelphia and the order came out quick. The fries were big potatoy and they gave avert healthy portion with the order. I was more than satisfied with the amount given with this cheese steak at Johnny’s and surprised so any dissed this nice Greek joint it is way better than where you angry other things in surrounding Re

Best thing was customer service. They were friendly and helpful. Then there was the food. Mediocre at best. Gyros was the blandest I have ever had. Pita was doughy and flavorless. Also, for the small amount of food and low quality, very overpriced. Sorry, but won’t be back.

I love Johnny’s Place. My husband and I are regulars of Johnny’s. Best greek chicken hands down. Last Saturday I had the gyro greek salad and it was delicious. The owners are the most down to earth good people you will meet, enjoy chatting with them every time we come in. We are always greeted by name when we walk in the door which not only makes you feel appreciated as a customer but as a friend. The restaurant is ALWAYS clean, bathroom is kept up. Id recommend this place to anyone.

I had only tried the drive-thru and remember the previous ownership. Recently, I have been inside twice to dine and was made to feel welcome each time(unlike many other similar restaurants) and the food has been consistently very good. Other family members agree.

You want grease. You want Chicago. Here it is. Johnny’s couldn’t get anymore Chicago. You’ve got your gyros, your beef, your dogs, your fries. There’s not much to the décor. The woman at the counter got us in and out as quick as possible. The place is clean and they had a lot of specials. I tried the gyro with everything. It wasn’t too bad, but I felt like I had to wash my face when I was done. I can see it being a novelty to someone from out of town. To a Chicago girl, I know there’s better out there.

I decided to try this place since I was passing it and was somewhat hungry. I purchased a beef and fries. Upon unwrapping the beef, I couldn’t help but notice that the beef was completely covered with grease — not juice, GREASE — and also that the bun was saturated with it — very soggy. I assume that the cook behind the counter was too lazy to stir the pot, prior to putting the sandwich together. So he just scraped the grease off the surface. He also didn’t fill the bun with beef(only about two thirds covered). As for the fries, they were over baked and way too salty for me. All around, a bad meaI. I would have complained to the cashier behind the counter, but I drove home and opened the bag up there. It was too nasty to eat all of it. To say the least, I will never be stopping again at Johnny’s Place. Yuch !!

Big, clean restaurant. Menu is large, so I’m not sure how much of the food is actually homemade. The fish my FIL ordered looked like it came from a bag, as well as the onion rings and fries. My soup tasted homemade and my husband liked his gyro. My MILs pasta looked good, but not great. Staff was very friendly. Service wasn’t fast like a fast food drive thru, but it was on the quicker side. We will probably be back as we live so close to this location.

I ordered the gyro dinner which includes a salad and fries. The fries are crunchy good. The salad is a some chopped tomatoes, cucumbers soaking in a puddle of Greek dressing but somewhat decent. The gyro meat is kind of flavorless though. I have had a better gyros. The gyro meat was dry and flavorless. Definitely a filling meal though.

Clean, nice, and good burgers. Just moved here and was looking for the best neighborhood burgers. Here for fast food style. Give it a shot.

Being that this place seems to have a steady stream of customers lately, I decided to give it another shot. I was pleasantly surprised. Again, I ordered a gyro. It was a vast improvement from the first experience. The meat tasted much better, the toppings were all there(minus tomatoes, which I asked them to hold). I had a side of onion rings. They were crisp and hot. I also ordered a tamale because I’ve been on a kick recently. It’s pre-packaged, so there isn’t much to say there except that I knew exactly what I was getting. The only gripe this time around is that the service was really slow.

Very mediocre. Not worth the trip. Salad dressing is good though.

I like their location; close to my house. The food is not bad. But I think it was better when they were in Park Ridge.

Just moved into the area, and they have provided some solid«to-go» options. The ½ Greek chicken is really good — a highlight for not only my family, but for the friends who have been here chipping in with the move. Gyro is standard Greek restaurant gyro. The cheesy beef is solid, and the rest of the items we have had have been right on. The staff is friendly, and there are enough options for most to be satisfied with an option or two.

We had a chicken gyro and baked mostaciolli – both were just okay. Chicken gyro was not actual chicken gyro meat, it was just sliced chicken breast on a pita! The«marinara» sauce on the pasta reminded me of oniony sloppy joe mix without meat in it. So close to our house… too bad it wasn’t great. Maybe I’d go back and try something else…

A group of us from work visit here weekly and I can say I have yet to get anything bad on the menu. The service is also very friendly lots of laughs with the kitchen staff and counter lady. One of these days I am going to ask her what her name is. The food is always hot and the soup is excellent. Prices are good and so are the portions.

Ordered a ¼ burger with lettuce, onions tomatoes and an order of fries. The bread was nothing special and the meat was flavorless and most likely was frozen and not fresh ground meat. The onions, lettuce and tomato were tasty, maybe will try a salad next time! The fries were lightly battered and remind me of fries from Wendy’s. I had high hopes, classy and clean interior, too bad the food is Meh at best. I have had a better burger and Mc Donalds and I am no fan of Mc Donalds.

This place has been«Opening soon» for what seems like years. Today, it was actually open for real. My husband and I stop in for a late lunch, and find the place to be hoppin’. Good for them, I thought. The menu is standard«hot dog joint» with a few extras like gyros, pasta, and BLT’s. We ordered some hot dogs and sat down near the pop machine. I could not help but notice some odd articles framed, and hung on the wall about dirty resturants and how places should really step up and be extra clean… then I looked at the floor and saw enough crumbs to put a meal together. What the??? Our food comes out, and they went overboard on the condiments. It was the first messy hot dog I had ever eaten. Good, and timely, but mess-E! Then, just as we are finishing, and employee comes out to the dining room, looks at the TV and says«UGG! Let’s get some f — ing football on in here!» Sorry to say, but Johnny’s was a Hello, Goodbye for me.

Our favorite place in Park Ridge has closed! Rent has gone up for them so much that they can’t afford to be in business anymore. Johnny’s will reopen at Golf & Mt. Prospect Road in Des Plaines, where Jay’s Beef used to be. As of this weekend, they are already closed at their PR location on Touhy & Greenwood and the new place isn’t open yet. I know we’ll be coming back there after gymnastics classes.
