This place is great. How many places can you get a hot dog, fries and a drink for less than $ 5? They also make a pretty good milk shake and malt. It’s fashioned to look like a 50s style dinner with outdoor seating and very limited indoor seating. Delicious!

This place eclipses, portillos, and I say that, as someone that has been to many hot dog places. Excellent place, worth every dollar, you will NOT be disappointed. Fair prices, good tasty dogs, excellent fries, and tasty milkshakes — five stars easily. The menu is simple and straight forward, and not complicated. Another plus for being local. Will definitely be coming back.

I’m a big fan. Great hot dogs. non-greasy fries w/skins and fun 50s atmosphere. I would recommend a stop — especially when stuck by a frequent train in DP.

This is an awesome little spot to pick up a chi-town redhot. I was in Rosemont on business and hit up my Unilocal app looking for a good hotdog in the area. I’m so glad I did, 15 minutes later I was enjoying a delicious double redhot with salty crispy French fries. Fine job, keep up the good works…

Went to Rand Red Hots and ordered 3 Maxwell Street Polish, which is advertised on the menu, building and street signs. They even charge extra above what they consider a plain hot dog. Well, the Polish never arrived — we got hot dogs. Brought them back to the counter and was told they were Polish. Apparently Ownership has not been to Maxwell street or had any type of sausage ever! It’s false advertising. My suggestion to anyone remotely hungry is to avoid this place like the plague. Morons

What about a hotdog stuffed with fresh hand cut French fries for $ 2.99 is not to like? Also, they make a killer strawberry milkshake. Not an extensive menu, but what they do, they do extremely well. Love that they have a drive-thru too for when you really need a hot dog, but don’t want to get out of your pjs!

Vienna hot dogs and polish but anytime you have an option of a Maxwell Street polish with mustard, grilled onions, and jalapeño peppers you grab that goodness of encased meat. And this Maxwell is char grilled. Very tasty, I think the fact it was char grilled sealed the deal. Came with fresh cut fries;I love places that leave the potato skins on the French fries. Hot dogs and polish come wrapped with a good amount of fries. They do have a char dog so that in itself is a reason to return. Plus they also have bunch tamales another hard to find item. About ¾ of a mile NE of the downtown Des Plaines metra station. Glad I found this place courtesy of Unilocal.I shall return.

A good dog, frys are awesome, nice and greasy, but a clean grease. I’d go again if i was driving by the area.

I pass this place all the time and always over looking it because it’s shabby looking. Don’t let it fool you! The food is great and the prices are better! For $ 3.32 you get a good size Chicagonish hot dog and tons of hot fresh fries! It’s a little greasy but that’s why it’s so good. Service is fast and it’s cash only.

Excellent prices, fresh cut fries, awesome malts, small 4 packs of tamales(old school), drive thru, 50’s music & great grilled Maxwell St. polish! Yum

Love this place. Close to my office and easy to get to when I’m in a hurry. Location is actually easy to get to even though it is on Rand Road. Food is always good. Staff is always friendly. I eat out often as I’m on the road almost all day every day for work and this place is THEONLY hotdog stand that gives Gene & Jude’s a run for their money.

Rand Red Hots has me whoopin’ and a-hollerin’ over how devilishly good everything is there. And for those ridiculously cheap prices… boy, oh, boy — sign me up. I’m not stranger to some good olé wieners so finding this precious little joint was like hitting the jackpot. Granted, Rand Red Hots is no Superdawg but then again nothing really compares to that sort of flavor town experience. Although Rand Red Hots is in a different playing field than Superdawg and the like that makes them no less amazing. Seriously, Rand Red Hots has got some pizzazz going for them. It’s not just the insanely awesome prices that make Rand Red Hots a no-brainer, but it’s the actual food… duh! Let’s start with my favorite — the Maxwell Street Polish — which I would gladly have eaten two more of in the same sitting. It was perfectly charred(always, always go with the«char» option) and had the sweetest caramelized onions on it, making it the most flavorful Polish dog I’ve had in a while. The hot dog came in as a close second, but don’t let that silver medal fool you — it was still quite a delightful hot dog, however if I went back I’d still probably get the Polish dog. Besides the doggies, you will also have your socks blown off by the fresh cut fries that you can either order separately or that automatically come with your wiener of choice. What else is good??? Oh, just the Banana milkshake… which was better than good. It was totally awesome, baby! So let’s see here — I got a hot dog and fries combo, a Maxwell Street Polish and fries combo and a milkshake for under $ 12…that is not a bad deal at all. I don’t know if you can get such a deal anywhere else! It was such a deal I almost felt as if I was getting away with theft! One thing you have to remember, though, is that Rand Red Hots is cash only(yes, I know, it’s somewhat of an inconvenience) so don’t expect to get far without some cash on you. Have no fear, though — they have an ATM for all you desperate hot dog lovers, though I’m sure that ATM has a surcharge for its convenience. Just be prepared with cash — that’s best advice. Other than that, you just have to go and experience the groovy little hot spot known as Rand Red Hots.

So first time I saw this place, well it just makes me feel like I shouldn’t have sold my Camaro lol looks pretty old fashioned in a way like back when Elvis was alive which is pretty cool. I’ll say this the best hot dog joint around the area. Awesome drive thru service which never look at me weird when I would order like five hotdogs lol jk you guys are awesome see you in the summer time. I believe this place is cash only so just double check I might be wrong. The hot dogs are on point, I mean who the hell messes up a hot dog but I’ve seen it happen man. But anyways they don’t do that here. Get the char dog it’s awesome my favorite. But don’t forget to get the Chicago style hot dog keep it traditional.

We’ve been going to Rand Red Hots for many years, driving a far distance to get there. We’ve raved about the place to anyone who would listen and have even brought out-of-town guests so that they could experience a great Chicago hot dog. WHATHAPPENEDTONIGHT??? We ordered our usual double dogs, sat down to eat and… huh??? Our hot dogs tasted like cheap pork hot dogs! They were NOT Vienna beef dogs. The fries were fair, at best. This was a huge disappointment. The«love affair» is over. We won’t be back.

Overall, this place is just okay. It’s good. A solid 3. The fries are delicious and crispy oily but not greasy just right. that’s where I’ll give it a 4 star. The hotdog is not great and not horrible. Standard Chicago styled dog and you can’t beat 2.99 for a dog and a fry. If you’re into really meaty wieners(all pun intended) then this is the place for you. I felt like the wiener was just a little too big for the bun… I’ll leave it on that note with all sexual innuendos implied.

Compared to Gene and Jude’s, but different. I won’t pick one over the other. They are just different. The fries are greasy and plentiful the hot dog is thin with a good snap. This is much closer to me being in Des Plaines, less packed, and I find the seating area to be more comfortable then Gene and Jude’s. Always happy when I come here!

So the 2013 experience was bad where the employee blamed me for getting the order wrong and wanted to argue for 15 minutes instead of fixing it. So far i hope service is better. Hot dogs and fries are good, there is lots of customers so its always fresh. Note: use the drive through at lunch time unless you like waiting in long lines. Recommendation to staff, the icecream is excellent, the icecream cones are stale and old, $ 1.50 is ok, but when you get a stale cone, i wouldn’t chance it.(They may blame you for it! So just dont buy it.)

This place is good for three items: hot dogs, Polish sausage, and fries. Hot dogs and Polish sausage are tasty and have a good clean snap when you bite into each. Put whatever you want, but NOKETCHUP!!! In fact, these guys won’t put ketchup on them, unless if you want it on your fries. Ketchup on your hot dogs is an abomination! Otherwise, fountain drinks and shakes are good. And that’s the depth of what I had here at Rand. There’s two booths inside the joint, but more seats outside. Plenty of parking at and next to the site. And you can order drive-thru too. I’d say its closely on par with places like Superdawg’s, Gene & Jude’s, but this place closes earlier than these well known establishments. Oh yeah, its cash only here — get the cash beforehand or go to the ATM inside.
