I love that they call diners«Coney Islands» in Michigan. I love the idea that this Coney Island bears the name of a famous Greek tycoon. And, when you put two and two together you get a Greek-style diner, the kind I grew up with in the New York metro area. The menu here was much smaller than those iconic diners, but that’s not a bad thing, since it makes choosing easier. I had a Greek chicken sandwich in a pita and it was delish! If I lived in Detroit, I’d make Onassis Coney Island my go-to. When I go back to Detroit, I will eat here again.

So glad this place is around the corner from where I live! Affordable eats that taste great and always good service. Don’t have time to sit down? They have super fast take out!

OMG I loved this place. So much so that I went four times. You cannot beat their breakfast. It actually taste like real food. I ordered eggs, bacon, hash browns and wheat toast all for around $ 6! So why the low rating you ask? Well, I already told you the good. The low prices and high quality food! There’s also a short wait time. The bad: the service is hit or miss. And when it’s a miss, chile!!! The first time I came to pick up my order there was a customer in front of me. She told the cashier that she picked up her to go order and when she got to work, she noticed two hairs in her food. She drove all the way back from her office to bring it back. The cashier got the manager, who bears a strong resemblance to Mark Ruffalo. Imagine my disappointment when I saw how rude he was. He told the customer(who wasn’t asking for a refund or anything) that anyone could say they found a hair in their food. She should have checked it before she left and brought it to his attention then. In other words, too bad. Which brings me to the ugly. I finally dined in. I was treated to S.W.A, service with an attitude. My server took at least 15 minutes to acknowledge me. She took so long, the cashier had to bring me flatware and water. When my waitress finally moseyed on over to my table, she didn’t apologize for the delay. Rather, she took my order without a greeting or a smile. Then she brought my food. My toast was burnt. I politely asked her to bring some more which she did. It to was burnt. Then she argued with me insisting that it wasn’t. I said I like it light and they’ve made it that way before. Rolling her eyes, she said«I’ll tell them to remake it.» I said«No thank you, I’m not sending it back a third time.» I joked, «I’ve worked in restaurants. They might get mad and who knows what they could do to it.» She gave me a nasty look and walked away mumbling under her breath. Then she NEVER came back. Not once. Not to refill my empty water glass, bring the check, nothing! Instead, she deliberately ignored me every time she walked by. And she walked by several times, to take orders, bring food, bus tables etc. It’s not a big restaurant. Finally, I got the cashier’s attention and asked her to bring my check. She said all of the servers have attitudes. I asked for a manager and it turned into ugly times two, the remix. First he made excuses saying you can’t find good help these days. Then he said it wasn’t intentional and I can’t relate because servers make low wages. I said I’ve waited tables and I never treated a customer that way. He sarcastically asked, «Do you wait tables now? Then you can’t relate.» He then said she told him what I said and that I got what I deserved. He «couldn’t believe» I insinuated that his cooks might do something to my food. I told him I wasn’t serious and even if I had been, it didn’t justify her refusal to do her job. He started yelling at me. I said that was no way to treat a customer and I mentioned the other customer he’d argued with about the hairs in her food. First he denied it was him then admitted it and said it was store policy. I said it was ridiculous and I was going to write a review. He yelled«Go ahead! Do you think I care?» Then he aggressively followed me until I got out the door, raising his voice all the way. By the time I got to my car, I was practically in tears. I cannot recommend this restaurant. But if you want to risk the wrath of Dark Ruffalo, order your food to go and check it before you leave. I secretly hope the place will mysteriously burn down.

Great place for breakfast. This place is right outside of downtown which means they have parking. It’s a diner with a good breakfast menu at a reasonable price. I’d go for the biscuits and gravy. They were some of the best that I had. The quesadillas here are amazing as well as well as the cheese sticks. I’d also recommend any type of burger as well. A wide selection of food all cooked to perfection. Pretty high quality diner food.

Best in Class — Coney Division, :). Maybe it’s the Chicago Dogs, the great service, the fact it’s located in one of my all-time favorites places in the world(Corktown/Michigan & Trumball) or that Breakfast Burrito w/Michigan Chili(not your standard coney chili) that seems to be on my mind all my waking hours, IDK, it’s just the standard I’ll measure all Coney’s by, :) . Locally-owned, not a franchise/cookie cutter Coney. Excellent«dog» menu to include such selections as the Ruski Dog, Grecian Dog, Junkyard Dog, Fire Dog, Kraut Dog, All-American Dog, Chicago Dog(my favorite), Bacon Cheddar Dog, in addition to your standard coney’s, et … You can never eat enough hot dogs, IMO. Full menu, I have not been able to get past breakfast though … but I will. The Breakfast Burrito w/Michigan Chili(not your standard coney chili) is da’ bomb. Available with sausage gravy also, but I’m telling ya’, the Michigan Chili(not your standard coney chili) is a super touch. And it’s huge, like as big as your face, lol. Clean, clean, clean, the staff is always wiping something. Excellent service, :). Carryout & catering available. Two thumbs up!

Fast, super friendly service with excellent food. I go here at least twice a week. Mario, the owner, runs a clean operation & cooks a lot of the food himself. I have never had a bad experience here!

1st off — this is a Coney Island. If you go into it expecting something other, you’ll be disappointed. Decent food, prepared quickly. What sets this place apart is the service. Know the diners of yesteryear? The shiny 50’s neighborhood joint where the waitresses remember your name and what you like? That’s this place. The opposite of pretension. Every restauranteur in Detroit should come here and leave asking how they can make their patrons feel as welcome as you do here. Big fan.

This place is amazing. I only wish I’d come here years sooner. They offer a 4.25 breakfast. Eggs, toast, meat, and hash browns… nice and crispy hash browns. I always find service so friendly and fast at diners. I’m not sure why but it makes me feel like I’ve eaten a complete meal when everything is firing on all cylinders. Our coffee, which is really good diner coffee, was filled frequency and the food came out fast and hot. I imagine my fat… will be here often in the future. I’m speculating that lunch and dinner are just as good and will find out soon.

Before my boyfriend and I started dating he always talked about taking me to Sunday breakfast at Onassis’. He mentioned that one of the waitresses, Trina, was one of the best and she was always kind to him. It was kind of a tradition for him to dine there every Sunday, whether he was alone or with friends. I finally had the opportunity to go there this morning and let me tell you, I was pretty excited to be apart of one of my boyfriend’s favorite things. Onassis is located across from the old Tigers Stadium in Corktown and it can easily be packed on a beautiful day. The service blew me away! Trina was an absolute doll and treated me with kindness and I felt like I was apart of the family, even if I just walked in the door. Drinks and orders were taken promptly and small talk was wonderful. The food though. The best breakfast I have ever had. Nothing too gourmet about it, but you can’t beat the price! Breakfast for two with drinks included was $ 14 … and that’s even with leftovers! The French toast was so fluff and fresh. Not too burnt, made just right with just enough cinnamon. My side of bacon was more than enough for me(heck, the boy even ate some of mine!) The boyfriend had eggs and bacon and he didn’t really say much about it, but he did finish the entire thing so it had to be something great, right? I see me coming here more frequently in the future! Superb service. Wonderful company. Clean establishment. You cannot compare!

What a great place to enjoy a morning breakfast. Try the choice of Omelettes. Mmmmmmm good! The front line staff is very friendly especially Ty, Lisa and Maria. Not to forget the other staff members. The owner/cook(Mario) is excellent. He cooks to order. It’s like«having it your way. When it comes to a business model he has the three P(s), People, Process and product. Enjoy.

If you need a quick, fillling and simple breakfast… then Oasis is your go to spot. Located across from the old Tiger Stadium, this little gem has a very nice line up of good breakfasts, I’ve eaten here more than four times and everytime Oasis puts out a consistent product. My overall experience is 8 out of 10.

For quick, cheap, and good food — this is the place to go! Service was quick and friendly — even though it was 30 minutes before they closed on a Sunday. I ordered the chicken grecian pita — and it was perfect. I was impressed that they had beets on the menu. For fast food, this was great. It was big and tasty and filled me up. It didn’t come with fries, but that was okay because it was enough in itself.

Ate here when I was hungover and desperate for an omelet. It was delicious and our waitress was adorable. The portions were huge, the staff was friendly, and our bill was practically nothing. They were brewing fresh coffee when I got there and it perked me right up. Yum!

Everyone should have a good Coney Island nearby and this is mine. I’ve been here a number of times but mostly for the same reason: breakfast. Highly recommend the Grecian Skillet, sliced hash browns that are crispy brown on one side but keep their potato texture, golden onions, tomatoes that cook just enough to not taste raw, gyro meat, eggs and cheese. They do all the other normal Coney Island fare too. The waitresses have always been very nice and service is quick.

I am finding Onassis worthy of an extra star upgrade, as in the year since my initial review I’ve visited Onassis many other times, and always have had very good service and the food is above average for standard coney fare. Also, they do lemon rice soup(yes just lemon rice, no chicken) better than I’ve had ANYWHERE. I swear they sprinkle crack in it — good thing they offer it daily. I have to get it at least a couple times a week. Stand outs are the breakfast items, the club sandwich, and, of course, the soup.

Lightning-fast, friendly service at this new Coney. Prices are good and portions are huge. The lemon rice soup seems to be homemade unlike at most Coneys, and the Greek salad is gigantic and comes with plenty of veggies on top in a fancy bowl. The kitchen and dining areas are very clean. This is no high-falutin’ fancy place, but the quality of food and service exceeds that of other Coney Islands.
