Chicken Rice Bowl was delicious! Good veggies(onion, peppers, zuchinni or was it cucumber — unsure), good rice and sauce! I’d order it again! Delicious mango boba! Yum! Fast and friendly service! Sorry that the restaurant was closed by the food truck was bomb!

I got to a food truck faire just as people were closing, but I managed to get some tacos from baba ni taco. They had an interesting twist on tacos in their puffy tacos, it had a nice taste to it. I also had a bubble tea. Bubble tea in my opinion can be hit or miss, sometimes people have tapioca which has a really odd texture. Luckily, Bob Ni Taco did well with their tapioca and it didn’t have a weird texture. I thought the people were pretty nice, and I think the food was very decent. I wouldn’t call it anything to write home about. Again, if I were at another food truck thing, I wouldn’t say I would avoid this truck, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for them either.

@Bobanitaco This review is on their truck. Fusing Asian and Mexican food is hardly a new idea in the food truck world. It’s a staple of this industry. Point being, It becomes hard for some trucks to stand out if this is the road they’ve chosen. What I like about this is that the sensibilities of Asian cooking are very different than Mexican cooking. Enter Boba Ni Taco. NOT just another Asian — Mexican fusion truck. These folks went a little beyond the standard Korean bbq wrapped in a tortilla. I tried 3 of their tacos, chicken, shrimp and bacon. That’s right, bacon! In my opinion the best of the 3 because well, it’s bacon! ‘nuf said! The shrimp was very tasty with the chipotle ranch slaw, salsa and caramelized onions. In fact this combination of flavors was on all the tacos. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, plump and juicy. The chicken taco had another flavor going on that I couldn’t quite identify that was very tasty. It sort of tasted like hummus, but that’s not what it was. All in all a very good lunch, enough to eat and relatively inexpensive. All in all a good truck that I’m looking forward to seeing again to try some of their other items. And of course… STALKERAPPROVED

The service was friendly. Apparently it’s a married couple who decided to mix asian and mexican culture/cuisine together. The boba portion of the place is good. But the food was overly-flavored and it was a little bit on the salty side? Or maybe there was too much of something? That’s what it felt like. Too much of something. I haven’t gone back here the first time I came. I think the food was more than enough for me to handle.

I’m a sucker for enchiladas and so when we got flyers for this place, I was glad to have found it conveniently right next to El Pollo Loco. They’re not as busy as El Pollo Loco and parking can be a hassle since it’s in a tiny plaza. I ordered the Green Pork Enchiladas $ 7.88, tax included. It was pretty good, except the beans were waaaaaaayyyy too salty and the rice was bland. The house salsa was just o.k. Nothing too impressive so far about this place, but I will come back to try their puffy tacos and boba and give an updated review then.

Pleasantly surprised. This spot has taken the place(phsyically) of th Taza Fresh rip-off that I didn’t like much. The layout remains the same(its still stuffy) but its cute and the décor a bit more modern. Pros– Friendly attentive service. The food was prepared quickly and was tasty. Cons– The menu is too big. I get the whole fusion thing, but how about doing just a few things really well catering to dishes(tacos) that really sing instead of trying to satisfy a generic menu obligation(burgers). I love boba and I love tacos. I’ll be back and hopefully we’ll see that they tightened up on who Boba Ni Taco really wants to be as opposed as what they think they should be.

So here’s why this review has jumped from a two star to a four star: 1. Friendly Service ***** The people who work there are extremely friendly. If you’re willing to start a conversation with them they’ll talk with you if they’re not busy. 2. Cleanliness ***** Extremely clean restaurant 3. Food**** You have to try the puffy taco, they’re better than the $ 1 crunchy tacos at Abarcas Taco Pub. 4. Speediness *** Their speed has decreased by at least half since the last time I was there. It probably would have been much faster had I not told them to remake my taco because there was cheese on it. 5. Attention to detail***** Most places don’t really care about the details when it comes to making sure that people with food allergies are satisfied. This restaurant remade my taco after putting cheese on it. 6. Willingness to make corrections****** This is something that I am particularly picky about, but they excelled in this area. Overall, compared to the last time I was there, a huge improvement. As I predicted it was the fundraiser that was what caused all the problems that I had the last time. I would definitely go back soon: D

I went in there craving a Boba drink, and was intrigued by the smell. It smelled delicious in there!!! I just wish they had bigger Boba straws, the Boba beads got stuck in the one they gave me and I’ve never had to wait that long for a drink in my life. It was totally worth it… It was amazing! I took a menu with me and definitely plan on going back to try some of their yummy smelling dishes.

Like others, I wanted to like this place: cute idea, nice folks and clean. Unfortunately, they’re not ready for prime time. They need to refine their recipes. For example, the onion rings were ruined by the addition of too much garlic salt. It was cloying and unpleasant. The cobb salad lacked anything that would bring it together and the ingredients were not first rate. Perhaps brining the chicken would bring much needed moisture. I did like my philly cheese steak, but even there the bread was severely lacking. All these things are easily remedied especially for a place like this where the concept is loose and cooking is done to order. Do it and we’ll be back.

I stood outside the place for a couple minutes, and the owner/worker asked me if I was scared. I said no, I was just surprised at the sign. Willing to take a risk, I chanced a boba and I was thoroughly impressed! $ 2 + tax for the boba, and I got a drink card. Bottomline: I think I’ll try a taco next time.

Food: The puffy tacos were nice in that the shells had a good texture. Unfortunately, the meat(I tried all the different kinds) is just average. Their menu has an eclectic mix of items. Though it’s nice to have the option of having boba tea with my chimichanga and sandwich, it’s not a combination I would usually go for. Service: Can’t comment on this since we ordered take-out Ambience: Can’t comment on this either.

This place was completely empty on a thursday night. So at least we had lots of attentive service. GOOD: Service. Friendly staff would get us napkins and forks and straws, even though it was on a self serve counter. BAD: Food is extremely greasy. And for the amount of heart-clogging grease, it should have tasted yummier. I was extremely thirsty the entire night and the next morning. Making the taste proportionate with the grease is an area of opportunity for them. The Cheese Fries looks great in the picture… but that’s, we’ll just leave it as «It looks great in the picture.» FAV: Coconut milk tea recommended by the lady.

I really wanted to like this place. Such a kooky idea… Mexican and Chinese? I’m totally down for that. Unfortunately this place did not deliver. While the people were really awesome, nice & attentive, the food was completely lackluster. I had an almond slush without boba and the puffy tacos. The slush was the best part of the meal hands down. I liked the taste, though I can’t comment about the boba, since I opted out. Better than most slushes I’ve had at other Diamond Bar boba places. The puffy tacos had potential but alas, not much flavor. In fact, I went with a few friends and that was the general consensus about all the meals. The food seemed half homemade and half canned/premade. I paid $ 1 extra for a spoonful of guacamole that was only somewhat decent. Aside from the food the whole place had a weird smell that came and went, and the inside was like –20 degrees. Again, I really tried to give this place a chance. The people were super nice and they even brought us free puffy chips and salsa while we were waiting for our other friend. I just wasn’t impressed with the food at all, and judging by the different plates my friends had, I’m sound with my decision that most of the menu is just not going to deliver… sorry Boba ni Taco.

Came here for lunch, and ordered puffy tacos w/boba. The boba was very Q, chewy and flavorful, and the milk tea was delicious as well. The tacos were filling, and all 3 were filled with ample amounts of seasoned beef, chese and lettuce. The cheese fries were pretty good as well, though nowhere near the amount featured on the picture outside the store. will probably come back to try the other items on the menu.

Okay, so I’m going to be the first to give them something less than 4 stars. 2 stars; sorry. Yes, they’re super friendly and nice. There’s a guy standing it the walkway trying to drum up business and get customers in. There’s a board that also says 4.5 star rating on Unilocal, too. Well, not today. I’ll be honest and say I’m disappointed with what I was served as lunch. Ordered the tuna salad sandwich and a honeydew milk tea. You can the judge of first impressions: You’d think there would be at least a leaf of lettuce to round out the«salad» in the tuna salad sandwich? Nothing, no lettuce, no red onions, not even a pickle. Two pieces of bread and in between was tuna. Didn’t see anything in the tuna, either. At least when I make it a home, I’ll add celery, onions, carrots and cilantro or parsley, if I have it. Chalk this up to «I can make this dish at home.» Hmmm, another idea for a Unilocal list… And then the onions rings. I really don’t have much to say other than it was greasy as hell and the batter flaked right off. My honeydew milk tea tasted pretty good at first, but towards the end it got really sweet. And the boba pearls didn’t taste fresh and it got chewy and rubbery. I was chewing and chewing and chewing before it broke apart. Didn’t melt in the mouth at all. As far as the name goes, I believe there’s only 1 taco dish on the menu: ground beef. Didn’t see and didn’t ask if you can get it with asada, carnitas, al pastor, pollo, you get the picture. The rest is really diner food — hamburgers, cheeseburgers, blt, fish & chips, turkey avocado, salads, etc. Hey, they even have fried rice and chow mein. Well, so far I’m in the minority when it comes to Boba Ni Taco. I’m going to hope that maybe it was an off day, ’cause really, my tastes aren’t that discerning.

First time visit. Great food and great owners. The pork burrito was awesome. The Foster dessert was worth the drive. Will go back soon.

*Note: I’d actually prefer to give the place a 3.5 but I decided to round up cause I’m a supporter of all that is small and local and starting up and the owners are friendly and if I can come back to a place more than once, it must be good enough! This café, restaurant, Boba shop, taco shop… I’m still not quite sure what to call it… is cute. That’s the only word I can really say for it because it’s not eclectic, it’s not modern… it’s well… cute. I’ve been here twice with the boyfriend since it’s opened, trying to maximize on their combo deal of drink and meal for $ 5 and for that price, you get what you pay for… in a GREAT way! Good serving by good people. The owner is a wife and husband who fused their cultures together and it couldn’t be cuter. Cute overload? I know sorry! On to the food. Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich: a bit on the cheesy side for my taste, but if you like cheese– gettem! Chinese Fried Rice: i don’t remember the exact name for it but it was pretty good! Too much peas for my taste again, but again, fulfilled it’s duty in appeasing my hunger! Cheeseburger: I like the homemade taste to this, though if I were to maximize on the demands of today’s foodies I’d add some kinda pizazz to this«seriously easy to make» meal. Green Sauce Pork Burrito: I’m not giving the best help when saying what I got but trust me, when you see the menu, you’ll know what I’m“m talking about. This was pretty good, just nothing wow about it. It’s worth a try, I think I’ve become spoiled by other foodie places that I’m giving this place a harder time than I need to, but bottom line: it’s good for your money.

Update: My friend and i go here about 2 – 3 times a week, so we’re basically regulars here at BobaTaco(that’s what we call it now), and together we’ve devoured all the main entrees. But I think the restaurant is still trying to really get its stride, and they’re a little more organized then when they first started for sure, but there’s also plenty of room for improvement. They’ve added the chef’s special which is a $ 5 combo that changes every week. And recently the staff has been talking about adding a few new things to the menu, some of which i’ve had the pleasure to try.(I’m hoping the grilled jalapenos stuffed with shredded cheese, and cream cheese, wrapped in bacon, battered and deep fried will make it on the menu. One can only hope. Haha.) If you’ve never been to BobaTaco, here’s a couple tips that might help for a better experience: First, when you buy an entrée, a fountain drink automatically comes with it. This was initially confusing for me because it’s not mentioned anywhere in the menu, yet cups are stacked up, readily available to the customers. Next, a lot of things are offered free of charge, you just have to ask for them. For instance the burger they have seems kinda plain on its own, but you can ask them to grill the onions, or put ranch or bbq sauce, or buffalo sauce on it. One of the best burgers i’ve had was here because i ordered a double($ 1 more) cheeseburger, and asked for grilled onions, bacon, ranch and buffalo sauce on the burger(all of which were free), it was fantastic. Current Favorites: Chicken strips wrap w/bbq sauce and super stuffed jalapenos(these two are from the secret menu.) Double cheeseburger w/bbq sauce and onion rings(2 to put inside the burger), cheese fries, and the pork chow mein. Old review: This place is awesome! The restaurant itself is very small, and there’s only a few tables, but the employees are all very nice, enthusiastic and welcoming. Now for the interesting part of this place, the menu. It’s not that big, but it’s extremely unique. I was amazed. My mouth was hanging wide open as I read the menu for the first time. It’s as though the chef decided choose the major dishes from a bunch of different restaurants and put them all on the same menu. Here are some of the items that stood out: the Turkey, Avocado, Cream Cheese Croissants, the Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches, the Taco plate, Fish and Chips, Chicken/Pork/or Beef Fried Rice, Chow Mein, the Breakfast plate(which includes 4 strips of bacon or 2 sausages, 2 eggs, hash browns, and pancakes too!), and then they also have salads, and soup. Oh, also, for most of the main entrees you get the choice of a side of fries, onion rings, or salad. They’re all good, but the onion rings are BOMB(they’re fresh, and hand battered, not from some package.) That reminds me, everything here seems to be made from scratch, that’s why its so good. Oh yeah, and for desert you can order Bananas Foster??! When I saw this, i was like, «…lolwut?» So, yeah, we definitely ordered that when I went. It was great. I think the best part was watching the chef prepare the banana/rum glaze(cue flames/explosion). For Drinks, they have the normal fountain drinks, and of course all the usual boba milk tea flavors, along with slush(I think they also have mini boba on fridays.) And they have milk shakes too!(vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and banana) I had chocolate, it came with whipped cream and 2 cherries on top: D So, the entrees all range from $ 5 – 8 for the most part. I’ve been there 4 times with friends so far, and my current favorite dishes are the Philly Cheesesteak w/Onion rings, Fish and Chips(the quality of the fish is superb), the cheese fries and of course, the Tacos. But I’m definitely going to keep going back until I make it through the whole menu. So yeah, Diamond Bar finally get’s an awesome, inexpensive, non-chain restaurant. All the food is prepared fresh, it’s yummy, and half the fun is interacting with the staff and watching the food being made.

Boba and Tacos? Huh? I mean I love both… but at the same time? Well I’m going to have to try this out… I am drinking the Boba Milk Tea as I’m typing this… very good boba. The food smelled and looked very good but I didn’t have any this time. I will go back and try a few more things off their menu! But I have a feeling I might be going often! :)
