I grew up in Doylestown and currently reside in NYC. We visit my hometown frequently and ate here a few months ago and had a nice dinner and drinks. This is relevant to the review, which is in regards to our dining experience two nights ago: We were seated and while I used the restroom he ordered us drinks. Upon returning to my seat the waitress approached us and bluntly requested we show ID. We obliged and upon seeing that we both held NY driver’s licenses, her face fell and the show really began. First, while eyeballing the ID in his hand, she asked my fiancé if he had a second ID «to back this up.» Without a fuss he procured his work ID(he’s NYPD and his work ID has his photo and date of birth clearly indicated). She looked for a second and told us both that we couldn’t be served any alcohol. I asked why, and she responded with«I’ll go get the bartender.» The bartender showed up with a handbook on photo ID for different states. She examined my fiancé’s ID against the NY state page example and said that she couldn’t verify it as real. He assured her that our IDs are real and explained to her the different markings on the ID which indicate authenticity(actually something he knows about given his occupation) including the ones that show under a black light, to which she cut him off: «I don’t have a black light.» Well. If you are in the business of scrutinizing obviously real identification and are going to act as dubious as a bouncer rejecting a 17 year old at a nightclub, maybe you SHOULD have a black light, to fill out the role. Apparently they’ve had a problem with fake IDs, and as a result appear a little gun-shy about serving alcohol to anyone with ID they are unfamiliar with. At least that’s what she might have been saying, I don’t know– all I heard was«Hey, I am a bartender who can’t tell a real ID from a fake, and even though you are both obviously well over 21, not presently belligerent or intoxicated, and ARE the people who your identification indicates, I still won’t serve you.» I am not one to make a scene, I just wanted a glass of wine with dinner after a long day. So we left. We left and went to Café Alessio in Doylestown and had a delicious dinner with fantastic atmosphere and very skilled, professional and enthusiastic staff. So please, don’t waste a single penny at Tomatoes. They don’t care enough to educate their staff enough to properly serve their patrons. There are plenty of other restaurants that actually want your business and will give you a better experience for it.

Was never a fan but have been there several times when friends suggested it as a meeting place. Last night was last straw. Flat beer served in warm pint glasses. Horrible food that had to be sent back. Terrible, slow service. Another patron slipped and fell on a wet spot on floor. Banged her head hard but was given almost no attention by staff. I had to clean up the wet spot on the floor with cocktail napkins after it became clear staff/management wasn’t going to do it. Really not much to recommend about this place other than the flatbread which I’ve had on past visits.

I came here for lunch with my grandmother when we were shopping in the area for some house stuff(there’s a Home Goods just a few doors down in the same shopping center). There isn’t anything else in the shopping center besides a Chinese restaurant and I was famished so by my grandmother’s suggestion I gave it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and the food. I imagined from looking at its exterior that it was going to be too typical bar like for my preference at the time.(I do love a good sports bar don’t get me wrong). Although there is a bar inside it has a family friendly touch to it. The menu has your classic bar food choices but with some refinement and fresh spins. Nonetheless, its an extensive menu with everything from pizza to burgers and salads to full entrees. The food was decent and came out quickly. The service is very friendly and attentive.(Bonus points for our waitress who BROUGHTOUT another Diet Coke for me without me having to even ask!) Overall it was good experience. Admittedly, I can’t say that I would ever go back unless I was in the same situation in the same place again. But, all in all, its a good choice and I can tell its a local favorite.

Great service, shrimp bisque was fantastic. Portion on boneless buffalo wings was a little small but all in all a great little place to grab dinner.

My review is colored by the fact that I hate sports bars, and that’s what this place is, in essence, it’s a big sports bar surrounded by tables. Food is your average big mass ‘o pasta and deep fried everything, no surprises good or bad here. Service is prompt and efficient. If you’re just looking for a place to go for a basic meal, it’s fine. OK for kids. Noisy, gambling machines on the bar.

I went to Tomatoes with my husband and brother(who is in a wheelchair) on a Thursday night to have dinner & watch the game. We’re always trying to find new places that will accommodate the wheelchair. The entire experience was average. The food was good but nothing special. The service was acceptable meaning the waitress was nice, brought our food and checked on us once but didn’t return unless we waved her over. We came to watch the game and assumed because of the«sports bar» title that it would be more upbeat but because of the wheelchair and being unable to access the bar area, we were in the dining area which just had one TV on mute. Overall, I probably will not be returning to Tomatoes. It had an old outdated diner vibe to me and I feel like I could get a better meal someplace else.

Do not eat here… I got good poisoning from crab and the chef argued with me about it! Lousy customer service.

I can’t understand when you are so close to South Philly that the Italian food up north could be so bad. Simply an upscale Fazoli’s

In a Strip Mall on 611, on the edge of Warrington and Doylestown. Tomatoes. Tomatoes was ahead of it’s time. One of the Pioneers of what we experience everywhere now in a Chain Restaurant. Lots of Appetizer’s, Salads, Sandwiches and Entrée’s to choose from. This place has been around for at least 20 years and probably longer. Food was always okay. Service was always okay. Not a chain, older and still going strong.

This place was the shizzle back in the day. I am amazed they are still here(and glad of it) and that they still serve that good(if slightly salty) Italian Wedding Soup.(I think they call it Chicken Holiday — but it is basically IWS.) In the old days, pre-Applebee’s, this was a good place to grab a drink(they used to have a full bar and poured strong ones.) and have a some good food. The pasta’s were tasty back then. The restroom could use an overhaul.(One, might argue that the entire place could use a little sprucing up in the décor department.) Rock on, Tomatoes! Rock on!

Don’t know if this place is still around, but if it is eat here! The NY Strip with Burgundy Butter was great. Chicken Holiday Soup(italian wedding soup) is served every night and is out of this world. Great sandwiches and salads. Take out beer and pizza, too. Service was always very good. Steve and Colleen were standouts.
