Best kept secret in Draper! I always love coming here and am always surprised it’s not crowded. The food is amazing and always super fresh. Lots of yummy sweets too. Today we had the Mediterranean and Turkey Avacado Sandwiches and Blue Chicken Salad with a lemon bar for dessert. All fantastic. Sitting on the patio is so relaxing.

Since I had a a class out this way, I made a point to eat lunch at Food for Thought. Why? It is set out of the way, of black hole they call 300 East and 12300 south. Very quaint, quiet and clean. Old historic home, next to a little memorial park. 4 stars is probably the rating I would give, but because the other low stars seem to be complaining, because they don’t accommodate big parties or child’s menu, I’ll error on the side of finding a place in Draper that isn’t a Celestial family dining experience.(No feet on the table or salt shaker lickers, while sister and sister chat about missions or lack of mission) I’m sure that happens here, just in smaller parties. Staff is super friendly. Food is fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Pastries look Devine, but I can only say, my sister said they were wonderful.(She had a flower shaped sugar cookie). I had southwest salad. Chicken is high grade lunch meat, but it worked, because this is not a pretentious place. The spicy dressing, was indeed spicy. I’ve been here 2 times, and got the same salad. Because, it is super good. I can’t wait to go back, and try the house made soup. Nice patio and I cannot emphasize enough, how nice it is to eat on Draper, without actually eating in Draper.

Quaint place. Staff is nice. Pastries are to die for. Salads were very good and good sized portions. Butternut squash soup was watery and pretty bland. They have gluten free options for the pastries.

The brownies were exceptional and beautiful. I got a piping hot s’mores brownie that changed my mood when I smelled it. Our order got a little messed up, but we ordered a something convoluted and it was probably our fault. The owner was eager and very helpful too, caught us a bit away from the café and put rewards points on our account we forgot to use. Beautiful place!

I have been here three times in the last 4 months. The food is wonderful. The atmosphere is fun. The staff are very nice. BUT… the service is horrible. All three visits with different servers. Wrong orders delivered, so S-L-O-W-W-W I could not believe it. What should have taken less than 30 – 40 minutes was beyond ridiculous. The first trip, a salad and a cup of soup. I was really surprised that a cup of soup took over 25 min to bring to our table. There were only 5 people in the restaurant. And the second trip, two salads were ordered — -identical salads,(the Thai salad) mind you. Only two other people in the restaurant and they had their food. We were served a sandwich and the wrong salad. And the third trip was equally fun — wrong salad and the server asked if it was okay if he left it… What??? I would love to leave a better review. The food is delicious but they need to work on the service! STAT!

I think this place has gone downhill over the years. Their baked goods are still my favorites, but their breakfast and lunch items aren’t as tasty. Service was awful last time I visited with a large group for brunch.

I really liked this place for the location and the cuteness factor. Old houses are cool. We thought we would have a bite to eat, but after looking at the menu, realized it’s kind of pricey. So, we opted for soup and a biscuit. It was not bad. I wished for a pinch of salt and pepper in my butternut squash soup, but there were no salt and pepper shakers. The soup was not very hot. The soup portion seemed small. Maybe, I’m cheap. I liked the biscuit. The servers were friendly. I loved looking at the old stuff, like the fireplace. I would go again, but for the hot chocolate. That was worth it. And I might try dessert.

I have come here for years and always loved it. The food is still good but the service is terrible lately. They aren’t flexible at all, won’t do combos or even split checks. They never refill drinks unless you ask and are very slow. Disappointing.

Came here for a quick snack and ended up ordering a whole meal. Everything looked so good! I ordered the turkey & cranberry sandwich, a cup of tomato & Parmesan soup, grapes, and a lemon bar for dessert. Everything was awesome! I loved the sandwich so much. I will definitely be craving that sandwich & soup until I have it again. Cute little shop and an awesome menu!

My experience at Food For Thought was nothing short of incredible. The owners are so friendly and welcoming, the same treatment could be expected from visiting an old friend. I tried a latte, apple bar, lemon bar, and a butter beer. They were all thoroughly enjoyable, and two thumbs up to any Harry Potter fan, right? I look forward to trying they’re gourmet sandwiches and quiche on my next visit. I highly recommend supporting this small business. Draper is a beautiful community that needs the small town vibe and amazing product that Food For Thought offers.

They have organic coffee, so I’m sold! And anytime to I can support a small local business, I’m in. I will definitely be going back to try the food menu.

This quaint ladies lunch place used to be a fave, but I’ve been underwhelmed the past two visits this week. Food hasn’t been fresh: soup served lukewarm and the famous chive biscuit was either cold or microwaved/rubbery. Curry croissant dry, and the pear/Gorgonzola salad was essentially a leafy lettuce package opened on the plate with canned pears on top. Not sure what’s happened here but it’s definitely not the place I loved! And bring back the Andes mints with the bill!

So it’s been a few months since stopped in, and I just wasn’t feeling my go-to places today. A cookie or brownie and a sandwich seemed like it would hit the spot, so I decided to skip the table service portion of the experience and called in with a to go order for me. It was ready when I arrived around ten minutes later, and I added a cookie(for my daughter) and a mint brownie(for me! And it tastes like a gigantic, delicious Andes mint), as well as a caramel vanilla latte to my order. I spent about $ 22.00 for the takeout, but I’ve always enjoyed the dessert offerings and the coffee. They also make handcrafted sodas and have some delicious-looking flavorings(like S’mores) for the hot chocolate. One of these days, I need to stop myself from getting my favored caramel vanilla latte and try one out – I’ve got my eye on the butterbeer! The owner, who I’d met last summer when I stopped in, spent a good chunk of time with me picking my brain on the menu, what I liked and disliked as a customer, and what kind of things I would suggest to improve the overall experience. I shared with him my past experiences(see previous review) and he was very apologetic and willing to listen to my ideas. He also informed me of a Draper free concert that would be happening on Monday and said we should come and check it out. I think it’s great to see them getting involved in the community events. Hopefully it will bring in some new customers for him. Based on this conversation today, I am excited to see the new direction he’d like to take this charming little restaurant.

Underwhelmed definitely. Worst part? At the bottom of my salad bowl was about 6 pieces of cat hair. Overpriced and seems it needs some training on cleanliness

Great little gym of a restaurant, located in an older home in Draper which makes it very quaint. They have great sandwich soup and salad combinations for lunch. I’ve yet to have anything bad at this restaurant. They also have a wide variety of homemade pastries and candies.

I brought my grandchildren who are 7 and 8 yrs on a field trip to the Draper historical history park to see their 3rd great grandfather Henry Eastman Day’s monument. We decided to make a lunch out of it and try the quaint little bakery in front ot the monument park. It was around 1:00 and upon entering we were not greeted too promptly and to my surprise they had no childrens menu to speak of and so my grandchildren order off the adult menu. I was disappointed they could have a grilled cheese sandwich or mac and cheese and chips and a childrens drink for a $ 5.00 like most delis. Instead we ended up paying full price for sodas and for each child it was $ 8.00 total for their meal, my granddaughter who is 7 didn’t eat hers because the onion bread that there sandwich came with fell apart when they cut it in half so she couldn’t get a good grip on the sandwich(turkey bacon and avocado) to take a bite. And they put hot dijon mustard on it so it was too spicy and not really very good! when our sandwiches came they not only looked very unappetizing and the bread was torn like someone cut them in half with a butter knife. We ordered fruit for our side and we received a half sliced orange in a styrofoam cup, and there was one slice of meat in our sandwiches and worst of all the meat was room temperature and that is never good as all food should either be really hot or really cold in a restaurant and I had the the turkey cranberry sandwich and it would have been good IF the cranberries, and cream cheese spread would have been refrigerated properly, room temperature is just so so BAD, really sad! and I felt sick to my stomach afterwards until late that night. Refills would not have happened if i had not asked after waiting for some time. I was sadly disappointed in this place! I saw allot of local ladies there and that is what keeps this place open. They lower their standards out of loyalty! Being a Ballard, Day, Greenwood decent, I have allot of relatives who still live in Draper. All are loyal but they should expect more! its too bad because it gives the owners a faults sense of there food and bakery items might really be good! I ended up taking my grandchildren to get something to eat after because they were hungry. Come on people get it together, If you’re going to open a bakery at a monument make us proud! I don’t think it is asking too much to hire good help and treat even your loyal customers who are willing to pay good money for your substandard food and bad service and for heavens sake put some meat on your sandwiches! And take a refresher course with the staff about food poisoning and storing food in the proper temperatures. I will be making a call to the health food department so you can all get your memories refreshed!

While visiting in the area I took my daughter here for her Birthday I ordered a salad she had a sandwich. My salad was not fresh I was served a limp green salad that was certainly not worth the price. My daughters sandwich was not impressive. The baked good were a better choice.

Really cute place to stop by and get a little treat. If you’re going for sandwiches get their vegetarian one, even if you aren’t a vegetarian, it’s probably the best of that kind I’ve had in a long time. The staff is super friendly, especially the owner and they will try to go out of their way to make your expierence enjoyable!

Growing up in Draper, Food for Thought had become a regular spot for my friends and I to catch up and enjoy food together. The location is quaint and homey and perfect for catching up on each other’s life. Today unfortunately has made it so our group of friends will no longer get together at the restaurant. First we walked in the shop and there was a Huge line out the door to pay. Waiting outside of the line after 10 min I finally went up to the employee just hanging out behind the counter and told her we needed a table. After requesting two high chairs she placed one at the table and walked away. After another ten minutes we asked for menus. Got our food fairly quick and it was decent as usual. We don’t necessarily come for the food. Then the it gets really bad– Just a reminder this restaurants hours are open until 4pm. We were talking enjoying our food. At about 3 o’clock they started flipping all the chairs upside down around us. Remind you there were still other people eating. Then at 3:20 an employee came up and told us they close at 4 and asked if we would leave!!! 40 min until closing because they like to leave right at 4!!! Are you kidding! If you want your employees to leave at 4 close shop at 3! And especially don’t kick your paying customers out! Unfortunately this experience made us feel un welcomed and un important. Ask me to leave at 4 even 3:45, but 40 min before you close is ridiculous! Let’s just say next time we will be taking our business else where
