Huge bummer that this place closed. To the owners, I hope you reopen somewhere else!

Have had good sushi here and also have had real bad sushi. Doesn’t always taste fresh. You won’t see me eating here again.

A friend’s birthday brought us here. The bordering-on-inexcusably-slow service kept us here for over 3 hours, most of the time waiting, and waiting, and waiting. Our very hungry group of six arrived on time for our reservation and were seated immediately. There were only six or seven other parties in the place at any given point throughout our evening. The restaurant is a bit small, but is capable of accommodating fifteen or so parties, with primarily tables for two. We ordered drinks, apps, and a slew of sushi rolls. Drinks and apps were delivered relatively quickly, at which time our waitress, Rita, assured us that our sushi would be out shortly. We ordered the Mars Twist roll, the Spicy Yellowtail roll, the Baja Sunset roll(spicy jalapeño and lime — not on the menu), the Green Eggs & Ham roll(my personal favorite), the Soft Shell Crab roll, and the Utah Roll. All of the sushi we had was good, but not so good to be worth the excessive unforeseen delays ahead. We had one non-sushi eater in our group, whose Chicken Teriyaki and Vegetable Tempura meal arrived a full hour before the first sushi appearance. Well after drinks, apps, and our friend’s meal were ancient history, Rita reappeared to let us know that it would be just a few more minutes because they were really backed up at the sushi counter… all the while we were watching several to-go sushi orders being filled and picked up. When we inquired with Rita, she admitted they had a new guy rolling sushi that evening, and that he «had to cycle through the orders.» Whatever that means. We commented that it seemed like a no-brainer to let people calling in to-go orders know that they wouldn’t be able to get to them for 2 – 3 hours. Silly us. A full 70 minutes after we ordered, our first few rolls arrived. We were expecting the rest shortly; nope, they took another 45 minutes. She offered to bring us a free appetizer as a sort of apology, so we tried the Dragon Ball-Z which were pretty tasty. That was nice of her. In the end, Rita ended up not charging us for a refill of the veggie tempura to help rectify the eternity of emptyness. She was apologetic and thanked us for our patience. Although we were basically enthralled in conversation the entire time, much of it was regarding the wait we were experiencing. In light of the fabulous sushi to be obtained in less than three hours elsewhere, we won’t be back anytime soon unless we’re looking for some time to kill.

We were in search of Japanese food in the Salt Lake area but instead stumbled upon Ginza Japanese Cuisine. To be fair, the wait staff were nice, the nigiri sushi was okay(just), and the miso was good. However, the beef in the sukiyaki, which should have been as thin as the pages from which the manga art on the walls were taken, was thick as cardboard, and about as tender. The edamame was the color of canned peas and tasted salty on the inside instead of salty on the outside. Yikes, it was not at all authentic!

Wish I could give it zero stars. This place is the classic example of Utah gross Asian food. What should you order? Nothing. The rice is cheap instant rice, not Japanese. And the beef was so overlooked it was not edible. Totally gross. Stay far away from this place if you don’t want to waste your money.

Tried the Sushi at Ginza for ½-Price night — not stellar but not awful. Sushi was about as expected for a busy night and inexperienced sushi chefs. California roll pieces were the diameter of my thumb. Specialty rolls weren’t anything to write home about — one of them was served lukewarm right out of the kitchen. Fish seemed fresh on the rainbow roll. Perhaps the quality is higher on the other nights?

My friends and I lovingly refer to this place as «Jesus Sushi» because it’s THAT good. The handrolls are so good and I would recommend the X roll, the fubuki roll, and the mars twist. It usually doesn’t take too long to get the rolls and the staff is really nice. They have huge LCD screens that are nice to watch games on. They also have great Japanese beer and sake if you are into that sort of thing. They have great art to look at as well if you can tear your eyes away from the yummy sushi!

I love ginza… their half price roll nights are awesome but these rolls are well worth their full price… their sashimi is fresh and delish and the miso is to die for… overall great dining experience

I’ve been to Ginza a couple times now. Once with some friends and their teenagers and once with a friend of mine. Both times were great experiences. The décor is very trendy and I love their manga pictures. For being in Draper, it definitely has a unique style. The crowd can get a bit noisy, but their business seems to be a bit slow right now mainly due to the massive Trax construction nearby. It can take a little patience to get there, but is definitely worth the hassle. The food is good and well prepared. A lot of it is very similar to other Utah sushi places, but a bit more reasonably priced. They do need to develop a stand alone signature roll, but overall are very tasty.

Ginza Japanese Cuisine & Sushi provides an excellent place to get sushi in the Draper area and for a reasonable price(especially on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings). They have a nice selection of rolls that cover a wide range of tastes. Some rolls are inexpensive and simple(tuna rolls or salmon skin rolls) while others are ornate and exciting to eat(Mars twist, Fubuki roll, and the X-roll). The ingredients are pretty good considering Utah is landlocked; it’s not the best sushi in the world but it’s among the very best locally. The rolls are creative and well made. The pieces are for the most part bite-sized, firmly rolled, and presented well. I’d especially recommend the Fubuki roll for a tantalizing and impressive display. Ginza has an excellent dine-in ambiance and sets the mood for a nice dinner. It has high ceilings, cool artwork on the walls, and clean décor. If you find the Ginza downtown to be too«divey», you should be pleased with the Draper location. The service is decent. They are friendly but can be a little slow and occasionally inattentive, though it varies for any given visit. I can’t say you can’t do better for sushi worldwide, but Ginza holds its own with any other sushi bar in Utah. Review: 4 stars(5 stars if you eat on half-priced evenings; it’s an incredible deal!).
