Bring a group everyone order something different and share plates. A great find in the hill country with friendly atmosphere.

Kinda weird, kinda strange, but decent food and friendly staff. Prices are cheap. If want to go to a place that sells a fried catfish and shrimp basket along side a Chinese buffet, head on over. I wouldn’t say the food is particularly great, but it’s a good meal at a good price in a fun place. I’d like to go back at take in their live entertainment every other Friday night and hang out at the bar.

Ya know that feeling when you are stuck in traffic at the Y, don’t know what’s for dinner, and feel hungry for some fresh, tasty Chinese? Call Canyon Grill! Delicious takeout is ready to go in 20 minutes or less. Try the Thai Curry Shrimp; the Kung Pao Chicken is also good. Folks here are always very friendly and welcoming. The servings are so generous that you usually have leftovers for lunch the next day. Yum!

After a pleasant afternoon at my new favorite massage studio, I decided to treat myself to an early dinner before hunkering down to watch the CMA Awards. I stopped in at Canyon Grill and was greeted happily by the owner. Not wanting to undo all the«good» I felt after a sauna and massage, I decided on their grilled chicken salad… OMG what a treat-custom made to my wishes and a perfect ratio of chicken/salad! The chicken was amazingly seasoned and hot-the salad FRESH and ice cold, the way«it» should be. The dressing tasted like homemade, and the bread that accompanied this perfect meal was the best! Gaye, the world’s «BEST server» ever, is incredibly awesome… would highly recommend this establishment! Very quiet, quaint and a very diverse choice of options! Perfect for any craving that you may have at any given time. Really neat patio outside for the«outdoorsy» type and a really cool aviary adjacent to this diamond in the rough! Don’t drive to/thru«Drippin» without checking this place out!

Drive right by this place all the time on the way out to Fredericksburg, finally decided to give it a try, and I’m glad we did. This place has something for everybody — Chinese, Mexican, Wraps, Po-boys, Chicken Fried Steak — such an interesting mix, but it’s all good. I especially recommend the Thai Curry Tofu, grilled salmon pasta and the Canyon fries. Kids’ll love watching the birds in the aviary on the patio. Will definitely be back.

The burgers are huge — too big for me to finish — but delicious. I love that it’s a small, family-run business. Never tasted the Chinese food, but my dad has the buffet every time and loves it. Update: I am SOSAD this place closed. It was the best. RIP Canyon Grill. :’(

Good reviews, I’m confused so maybe it was just a bad lunch? I have to say the food was horrible. I had the lunch chinese buffett and my partner had the fried shrimp special and we both walked away feeling just a bit ill. The staff is awesome, very friendly and I liked the place, thus the 2 stars. We were just so dissappointed in the quality of the food so we won’t go back. I was also confused with the seafood, steak and chinese? It’s a shame because I like to see small establishments make it, but I have to be honest this is two thumbs down!

Caveat – Never had anything but the Asian entrées, never have been there in the evenings or on weekends because they are kid friendly and I am not. No idea about the bar and such, either. Friendly staff and owners. Good service. Good solid mostly Chinese food with a bit of Thai tossed in. Will spice to suit if you ask. Not spendy.

If you’ve never stopped here, you’d never know that Canyon Grill offers some really good Chinese food. It is a standby for weeknight takeout for us. I’m partial to the Mongolian Beef, my wife likes the Shrimp Curry, the kids like the combo fried rice. It isn’t fancy Chinese, but it is tasty. Many of my friends out here in the Drip have never eaten here. It is the only Dripping Springs restaurant(well, maybe Flores also) that we go to regularly.

Decent lunch Chinese buffet. Fresh and well tended to. Nice owners. Funky place that serves Chinese food, American grill, and a bar in the back.

Like my friend the Rooster says, there’s an increment between 3 and 4 stars that’s hard to pinpoint, but this place qualifies for some unusual reasons. The food is good and it’s reasonably priced — the pan fried dumplings and the Crispy Orange Beef are VERY good, in fact. That fourth star is earned for a combination of non-food related reasons, though. In this part of Hays County, any restaurant that offers Chinese, Mexican, and down-home American food in one convenient location is a godsend. That variety is great, but the real draw is the friendly and attentive service. You feel WELCOMED from the moment you enter the door. It doesn’t hurt that the owner is a bird hobbyist, too. You can finish your meal, relax with a drink, and wander outside to view the aviary and perhaps even pet a couple of day-old chicks in a box on the back patio. All in all, this is a surprising little restaurant along 290 and one that deserves your patronage.

You know that one tiny tidbit between 3 and 4 stars? In an amazing revelation I’ve discovered its pan fried dumplings! It’s not just those delicious little pillows of love; throw in some sultry Thai options on the menu combined with the friendliest staff in North Hays County. Jenny and I have discovered the best kept secret on the menu. The Thai Shrimp has a delicate flavor combining mushrooms, bamboo shoots, and cilantro. The sauce is mild; but just right in our book. The dumplings show up on the lunch buffet. I had been venturing in on my paydays for a equally tasty Thai Chicken when it vanished. I will disclose that I had and I quote«mild tantrum» and the owners had it back in the line up the next week at my request! I crave the cabbage with sesame oil. This place takes care of its clientele. Its not me they are worried about; its little Rooster. I have a few extra babysitters when I walk in the door. Truth is, CG is a great place with great people!

You know, sometimes I overdo it on the stars because I am just so affected by the attitude and friendliness of a place. We went again last night and it was just pretty just ok. But it was SOFRIENDLY! You can’t have a bad time here because they try so darn hard. Skip the pasta dishes, whether its lo-mein or something with alfredo sauce, it all basically tastes the same. The Chinese food is pretty mediocre as well, but I like the soups. They use real chicken stock. Stick to burgers, sandwiches — good stuff and reasonably priced.
