A lot of the complaints here hold true; I decided to take a chance one day and try this place out anyway — «All you can eat sushi.» It’s hard to not try it. I ate till I was full, but I would NOT go back here again. I quickly learned that the fish was NOT fresh– so I went with a strictly unagi approach only to find out that«they ran out.» So I started ordering multiples of other things until«they ran out» again. The wait time in between orders was long and made this uninviting place even more unbearable. The only reason I ate until I was full was to get my money’s worth: This place was pretty expensive for dinner.

This place got a lot of bad press, and I could understand why from an aesthetic perspective however, the staff was always awesome to us, catered to everything we asked for and in heavy times always doubled our orders to make sure we got through the wait. From what I gather, Sushi House of Saki CLOSED for business at the turn of the new year. I hope and pray they are reincarnated somewhere else in Dublin. This was my family’s weekly hangout and we are devastated to see them go. If anyone has any information leading to the conclusion of where/when this outfit moves to, I will pay REWARDMONEY, in cash.

0: Bad — 10: Excellent Price [ expensive] Quality of food [ 1 ]: Salmon taste so bad. Service [ 0 ] They ask me to shut up when I was ordering(LOL !) Speed [ 1]: There was only 2 costumers. they took 30 minutes to make a roll [ lol] All you can eat?! Ans: NO ! If you keep ordering same thing such as salad or edamame… they will say that it’s stock out. I am pretty sure it’s fake. Why I kept ordering edamame? Come on… they take about 30 minutes to make a roll, I wanna eat something while I wait ! If you are coming here. try another place. Try Hanabi Sushi. 99% fresh.

Several reason why this place only gets one star from me: 1) Mediocre food(fish doesn’t taste fresh) 2) Bad service(you better order everything you want in the first two rounds. From that point on, they will start ignoring you and omit some of the items you order) 3) Overpriced(why pay $ 14 when you can go to Tomi and get twice the quality and selection for less?) I will not go back to this restaurant anymore. There are definitely better AYCE sushi options out there.

First timer and yes, the all you can eat is a plus… but the food isnt really that good as far as sushi goes. On the surface it seamed ok but not even close to most other sushi places that offer all you can eat. lemonade was good though. So — Food — just ok drink — great Service — slow and lacking the English tongue. Price — Average

First time we were here it was pretty bad, but we thought it might have been just an off day, so we did try again after a few months and … nope, still bad. It’s nothing about being a sushi snob, either. You’re lured in by the ‘all you can eat’ sales pitch, but then once you’re there you realize there’re a billion rules you have to follow in order to not be charged twice as much as what their dinner price says(I think it was $ 13.99 last time?). You get a little sheet with the menu and you can pick five items per ’round’ per person, but throughout our meal, not one round came out accurately(always missing items, or gave us the wrong items, etc.). Staff are not personable, food is slow to come out, and make sure you read the fine print because you get charged a dollar per item under ‘specials’(it used to not be that way; it used to be you could only order one type of special item per person for the meal, so we never expected it to change and we got charged a lot more than expected at the end of the meal –__-). Food quality itself is pretty bad, so no wonder they have the surcharge(like $ 5 per person) if you don’t finish all your food. If you don’t heed this and decide to go anyway, don’t get any of the rolls; they’re just mayo and mountains of rice with an afterthought of fish somewhere in there(if you’re lucky), and that fills you up fast … or you choose not to eat it and … tada, $ 5 extra ! Bottom line is … just don’t come here. Seriously, save your money and go to any other sushi place. It’s not like the bay area is in short supply of them.

If you like old ginger in jelly jars on the table and dry wasabi then you will like this place. The sushi smelled a bit fishy. very small pieces of fish. Some rude wait staff. slow service between orders. Lot’s of rules too abide by too. Spend your hard earned money somewhere else. you have been warned.

I was really apprehensive about having lunch here. The Unilocal reviews were pretty negative on both service and food quality. Yet I had already walked the center and looked at all the other menus and just didn’t find anything else that I was in the mood for or wanted to pay for. At one time or another, I’ve dined at all the other restaurants except for the Afghan place, shabu-shabu place and Sushi House of Sake. So, I took a chance and walked in. I was told to have a seat anywhere. I took a booth and saw an ordering sheet. I marked several items before the server came with a menu and to take my drink order. The biggest risk that I saw was that if you order something and it doesn’t taste the way you like it, you may have to finish it to not be charged the $ 5 wasting food charge. One of the items I ordered was karaage chicken. DON’T! It tasted as if the meat had been marinated in soy sauce for too long before being breaded and fried. It was so salty and there was so much of it! But that was the only dish that I ordered that I really didn’t like. I also had: Tempura Prawns — pretty good Tempura Vegetables — 3 pcs carrot, 2 pcs onion; 2 pcs kobacha pumpkin — okay California Roll — very good Spicy Tuna Roll — very good Salmon Nigiri — meh Hamachi Nigiri– meh — the rice was fine; fish was so-so; just not highest quality Seaweed Salad — good Snow Roll — spicy tuna inside and crab salad outside — very good Hamachi Kama — they charge an extra $ 2 for this — good Udon — only a few noodles but the broth was good to wash everything down Would I go again? Maybe, if I’m in the area and have the urge to eat way too much.

An AYCE sushi restaurant with numerous rules to follow… — 2 hour limit, — Buffet must be selected by all in a party or not allowed, — No wasting of food or an additional $ 5 charge pp, — May only order 5 items at a time per person, — Last order is half hour before closing(8:30pm), — Eat all before waitress comes around with the next order sheet, Yes, more rules than the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld. Oh, I forgot to talk about the food… Mediocre sushi, lots of rice in the sushi, small fish slices, one piece of shrimp tempura at a time. Agedashi tofu was very good, you will be able to order more than two times since the place is not busy… wonder why???

First of I must clear up my shame in going to a buffet let alone writing a review about one. But it wasn’t really up to me so I just shut up and ate my food. I came here for dinner on a nice rainy day, a sushi buffet seems like it would have been busy but this restaurant alienates its patrons with a bombardment of signs listing different rules and catches. I must note that the sushi wasn’t disgusting but for the price I think that people would be better inclined to spend their money on Chinese buffets which feature cream-cheese and imitation crab sushi similarly dressed in mayo and that dark indistinct sauce that feeds my umami/msg cravings. The one really, really positive thing I have to say about Sushi House of Sake is that their shrimp tempura is AMAZING! They were cooked so perfectly and uniformly crisp that I almost think they may have been frozen.

A pretty average sushi place, but who can resist all-you-can-eat? For $ 20/person for dinner, it’s really not bad. We ate a ton. They don’t have a huge menu of items to choose from, but all the standards are there, along with some new ones(try the Golden Nugget, forreal). The miso soup was hot and tasty, perfect upon coming in from the chilly weather outside. The waitress kept coming back to refill the hot tea and water, and the sushi chef kept everything coming. Definitely A-OK with me.

$ 13.99 for the lunch buffet. Only 5 items per person can be ordered at one time. The whole table has to be eating buffet and lastly, a $ 5 charge will be applied to wasted food. Got it? Once you have read and agreed to the rules you may proceed w/your meal. I was excited at the variety of items you can order with the buffet. Basically, small plates of appetizers, entrees, and sushi. i. e– agedashi tofu, karage chicken, teriyaki, tempura, handrolls, sushi and nigiri. I was disappointed with the quality of ingredients. The Lion King was drenched in mayo sauce which didn’t mesh well with the rice. It was also filled with shrimp/mayo mix(I call this sushi filler). The others all had similar sushi fillers. The ingredients just didn’t seem fresh. I like my sushi fresh and cold not mushy and warm. The squid salad and the seaweed salad was good(nothing special). I don’t think I’d go back. There are better sushi buffets outside of the East Bay that server better quality food and that don’t have weird rules.

The back wall of the restaurant has a list of «rules» that apply to their all you can eat sushi but when we went we ordered more than was«allowed» and they gave us no trouble. And since the portions are small, you can try more things. Sushi was fresh and didn’t have that«sitting around» kind of taste to it. Some of the rolls had a bit too much sauce, but they were good about special requests, even during the busier times. $ 20 for dinner is pretty reasonable. All in all, pretty good stuff. Sorry about all the quotes, I guess those should be saved for the Zagat review.

Lets keep it straight forward… –Come here for buffet only LUNCHBUFFET –Why? Because the sushi here is cheap if you have one smothered in mayo then you basically tried them all. After one or two rolls you won’t even notice a marginal difference in taste. –That’s why I say take the buffet offer, because you can get other items if not sushi. Why waste money on a few cheap tasting rolls? Plus the sushi is freshly made, but still not the best quality. –Buffet is good to get your sushi fixed. –Staff is friendly, bathrooms are clean, and service is quick. Don’t go on a date here, just come here an get your sushi fix in a professional manner or messy manner.

Me and my boyfriend frequent this place for dinner when we are craving sushi. The AYCE is ~$ 20 per person at night. I recall we were quite miffed the first time we went by the many restrictions that they had for what and how you can order, but we got used to it quickly. Just be prepared for a long wait between orders, which couples with their policy of having a maximum time for each table. You are given a paper for each round where you can order up to 5 items per person. There is a special menu of items that each person can only order one of per round. Only after all the food from the previous round is served will you get a new sheet of paper to fill out for the next one.(Beware of ordering too much, since they have an extra charge for things you don’t finish.) The service time is quite slow since everything is made to order, especially things that aren’t sushi, and you must also factor in how many people are there. We learnt that it’s better to sit at the sushi bar because the sushi chef will actually let the waitress know when we are ready and they hand us the sushi right when they are done making it. The boyfriend also gets to watch the game on their flat-screen TV during the periods of waiting in-between. I really like their salmon. Though not the best, it tastes much fresher than at some other sushi places I’ve been to. The California Roll and crab chips are also really good. He is more partial to the Caterpillar Roll that’s on the«special» menu, but unfortunately, he only gets to order one per round.

The dynamics of this place has changed. The AYCE menu was weird. We were expecting a regular restaurant menu. There are notes at the top saying that everyone either had to order from the regular menu or the all you can eat option. There are also extra charges for any leftover food. The struture of the menus and all the rules are not very inviting so it kind of killed the mood. However, the waitresses were nice and our food came out pretty fast. We were there for dinner on a Monday night. We weren’t aware of the change in ownership until we pulled up to the parking lot. We noticed a new orangish sign. We gave it a try anyways.

No. I love sushi, but this place gave me a bad impression my first time there and I never went back. First of all my table was dirty! My water glass had lipstick on it. The table was set with used chopsticks! Disposable chopsticks come in a paper sleeve and I know they were used because they were broken apart. As I inspected it… I pulled them out of the sleeve and there was wasabi on it! EeeeeeW! I Informed the waiter. He was embarrassed and tried his best to recover. Now to the sushi. The portions are ok. Presentation needs finesse. The taste … none. Where’s the flavor? My rices was mushy. Fish had a refrigerated smell as if freezer burned. I questioned it’s freshness and ended up with complementary glass of plum dessert wine. Want the best Sushi in town? Not this spot. My favorite place is still Matsu.

The«All-You-Can-Eat» restaurant that paces your meals for you at their convenience and benefit: There is a reason why: 1. you can only choose 3 items per round– each item where rolls are 3 – 4 pieces and appetizers big enough for one person 2. you hunt down servers because they don’t want to give you more forms since you have to ASK for them each time in order to get more food 3. appetizers come out slow(I waited over 10 minutes btw, this is a ‘buffet’ isn’t it? 4. you have a 2-hour time limit to eat. which doesn’t include wait time to receive food or get a hold of checklist for food. For awhile, I told a waitress we wanted another form to check off more food, she never comes with one. Five to ten minutes pass and we ask a waiter. Then we overhear the lady ask him what we want… I waited for my first round for about fifteen minutes and only one came out. I then ask the lady where my chicken teriyaki order was, and she implied I never checked it off my form. and offered to add it to my list. And yes, she came out with it a minute later– see I did check it off the first time. ***FOOD: Appetizers took forever and rolls came out quickly. Good: none stood out. OK: Alaska roll(raw salmon & avocado), Hawaiian roll(raw tuna & avocado), Dragon roll, assorted fish on top w/cali roll center, salmon nigiri Meh.: chicken teriyaki(not broiled as much as I’d like), some fried roll with tuna in the center, spider roll(didn’t like the seasoning on the rice that came with it) The UGLY: fried oysters(murky green mush in the center), chicken kaarage(use of tempura batter that wasn’t fried enough, therefore pale and not crunchy, and found chunk of raw flour-YUCK.) Their frequent visitor, aka little finch-sized bird, which was given that title by the server when pointed out, was eating sushi/tempura scraps off the floor in the restaurant. By the way, that was a cute addition to the place. Overall, I would not recommend this place. Unless you have at least an hour to eat and do not care about quality, you may want to stop by although I’d rather pay a little more elsewhere to fully satisfy a sushi craving.

$ 19.99 for all you can eat dinner of sushi, appetizers, and other Japanese entrée items is not too shabby. The sushi was okay. You get what you pay for. I remember liking the crunchy roll. The rolls were a little heavy on the rice, but I’ve had worse, so it wasn’t too bad. I’d skip the deep-fried sushi rolls. They were too fishy tasting for me. I’d also skip the sashimi which was overly refrigerated. It tasted/felt like it was defrosting from being frozen. While the place is called Sushi House of Sake, it has only a paltry selection of sake. Also, note that there is a separate charge for the sake. It’s not part of the all you can eat. Warning! We ordered the sesame chicken and it had shrimp in the middle!

Sushi House of Sake’s name doesn’t appear anywhere on the outside of the building they occupy. the name just appears on the menu. the décor is about the same as when house of sake was here. flatscreen: soceer drill: order from checklist for each round. supposedly only 3 items per round. lst round order 9 nigiri, soup, and one appetizer, … lunch buffet all you can eat(13.99) or dinner ayce(19.99) sampling: –nigiri(l each) *ika(fishy, chewy), ikura(ok), maguro, saba(fishy), tamago(huge), tako(thin), tobigo, albacore, ebi, sake, hamachi –overall nigiri fish sliced very thin, sashimi not so fresh. –miso soup: sweet tasty(msg), otherwise same –dried oyster(2 small piece): ok, tasted fresh –tempera(2 large piece) doughy tasting, no shrimp taste –seaweed salad: almost ok, lacking sesame oil –squid salad: premade, chewy squid, so-so –karage-age(chicken): a few small pieces, tasted fresh. –green tea: pretty nice taste temaki: –very friendly greeting upon arrival, after you pay, they ignore you. –appetizers only partial orders, was able to sample many items. –rating: food 2 stars, value, 3 star, service 4.5 stars. –nigiri on the poor side, appetizers-passable. –food came quickly, some food already prepped in kitchen. –some items out: unagi, salmon teriyaki. –2 hour limit on eating
