Good sushi at a GREAT price! This place is my go to place for sushi.

I really enjoy the rolls here and they are reasonably priced. Fat fish roll is a 5 star roll

Had bento lunch and hot tea, for $ 10. Good food for the money. Bit out of the way, would not have found it without GPS. Parking was full at 11:45am. Will come again.

This had been one of my favorite places for sushi but lately their timing has just been off! Love the food but come on guys get with the service and atmosphere! Bugs, torn chairs, dirty tables. Needs to be updated! Will be back but if it continues to go down might need to start looking for a new place.

If you truly want to get your sushi craving out of the way. This is the place to go to. I’ve never been disappointed with the service and/or food quality. I’ve tried a variety of rolls from spider, heart attack, philly, green dragon, etc. All fresh and made in a timely manner as well. I’ve also tried the spicy ramen, although I’ve subbed the seafood with beef(you won’t regret it) Their poke salad is also very delish(I ask for sauce on the side) so that I can manage how much I want. You come in,(if there’s no wait) and order first, then sit at any open table. You serve yourself when it comes to drinks, may it be water or soda. I’ve always had a pleasure coming here because the food is just really good. They can get busy at times because well… They’re popular! Get your sushi fix here

My Japanese restaurant go-to! The price of sushi here is considerably lower than other restaurants, which is great bonus. Setting: Looks like a totally random place off the side of the road. The atmosphere is very casual and great for family dinners or hanging out with friends. Seating: Inside, about 20 tables to sit at. During busy times, you have to write your name on a sheet of paper and wait for a table. During slower times, you can go ahead and seat yourself. Don’t be shy! Ordering: Quite confusing for the newcomers. You can either order right away at the cashier, perusing the menu from above your head on a big sign OR take a paper menu(and a pencil) to mark your desired food in the checkbox. I recommend filling out the paper if you need more time to look at the options on the menu. Food: The sushi is nothing special, but it tastes better knowing that it’s price is so low. I consider myself an average eater, and the kid’s bento box is always enough for me! It comes with miso soup, chicken teriyaki, California rolls(4), and shrimp tempura(2). Other times, I order the miso ramen, which always hits the spot! Service: It’s pretty much always the same people working there, and everyone is very nice! Most of them aren’t Japanese though. Come here for good food for a good price!

Fast food sushi at it’s finest. Ok it’s not great but for the convenience and price, Fat Fish isn’t all that bad of a spot. I didn’t get sick, the fish wasn’t awful tasting, there’s a lot of seating, and the service was ok. Don’t expect a nice sushi spot but I’d rather pick up a takeout order here than most«supermarket» pre-made sushi boxes. The restaurant itself has little to no ambience. You order a counter, pick your own seat, and wait for the food. There is a large parking lot but even though it was 2pm on a Thursday, there was only one parking spot in the whole lot. A lot of the spots were taken by Uhaul trucks. For my meal I got the chirashi and the Salmon Village. I tend to stay away from rolls but clearly this is a roll kind of spot so I had to order one on top of my customary chirashi. Although this place is $, I’d say it’s more on the lower $$ side because most of the rolls are over $ 10. Admittedly the rolls are bigger than most places but for a filling lunch I’d say you need at least 1.5 rolls. My Salmon Village was pretty decent. The quality of the ikura was awful. They lacked the«pop» and were mostly sad deflated balls. But honestly it went pretty well with the more neutral cream cheese and salmon. It was basically a fancier Philadelphia Roll.(3⁄5). The chirashi was your typical untraditional sushi place, bang for your buck kind of deal. It came with 13 slices of fish + 2 pieces of tamago: 1 ebi, 3 walu, 3 tuna, 3 salmon, 3 tilapia. The tamago was that kind of grainy fake egg and I didn’t particularly enjoy it. The shrimp was strangely sweet, the tilapia had that still thawing kind of texture/taste, the tuna tasted grainy and also like it was still thawing. The salmon was alright. Basically what I’d get at a normal sushi joint. I’m super happy they included butterfish because it is my favorite cheaper fish. The one here wasn’t half bad. It still had some flavor and texture to it. The rice was here was honestly a surprise. It has a very typical taste but overall it had good texture and some degree of flavor.(2⁄5) Overall, I don’t hate it. I may be back if I’m ever craving a fatty sauce covered roll and I’m in the area.

Definitely good food for the price you pay! Its a hole in the wall type place, décor okay and atmosphere is very casual. I came with 2 friends and we each bought one roll which proved to be more than enough! The rolls are cut quit large so be aware! The pricing is very good considering how much sushi you actually get. We got two raw rolls and one baked, all proved go be very very tasty. The raw fish wasnt the best ive had but definitely not the worst either. I would say overall I would come back seeing as the one baked roll we got was soooo good. Yum yum :-))

Good sushi, cheap, big portions! That’s why I’m giving a 4 star. The minus 1 star is because every time I came here; my food has always taken more than 20 min to get to my table. This past time, I waited 40 minute for one roll. Not sure how their system of keeping track of orders are but it needs to be improved or changed. They asked me for my ticket twice to see what I ordered. It’s not the servers or the cooks fault; it’s the management. But I mean, the food is good if you have a bigger patience.

Sushi itself is probably a 3⁄5 but the price bumps it up by a lot to a 4⁄5. I went on a Friday night with a party of 4 and had to wait about 30 minutes after ordering to actually get the food. Anyways, the raw fish on the rolls don’t seem fresh at all. I avoided the rainbow roll altogether because it didn’t look appetizing to me. The volcano roll had«crab meat»(?) on top which didn’t taste like normal fake crab meat. It was chewy? I actually liked it though, seeing as it was drenched in sriracha! My favorite was the lion king roll. I just love the sauce that’s on top! It’s one of the more heavier rolls. Anyways, come here if you are craving sushi but on a budget. I’d say the food you get is actually really good for the value you pay!

No complaints from this restaurant. The most inexpensive yet best quality sushi place I’ve had. I would highly recommend this to any American sushi lovers. The menu has a hugely diverse selection of items. Waiters are super friendly. I saw a chef who was carrying some garlic edimames. Asked if we could have some they said they could make one for us and charge us something they came up with. We agreed. Next trip we see it on the secret menu. Tip: try the grilled edimames. Best appetizer dish on the menu.

This place is great if you are on a budget. Meals are under $ 7 for a combination with 2 items and rice. Sushi’s are $ 5 to $ 13 only. They have a lot of selections and it’s pretty good for the price. The waitress and waiters could use a little smile, they are somewhat serious and not too friendly. I’ll give 4 star, but because of that, it will be 3 stars.

Came here for the price and cause I wanted to eat out but didn’t want to spend too much. I still ended up spending $ 20 tip included. Which is high for me since I’m cheap! I ordered the spicy seafood ramen and tiger roll. The ramen soup base is good, but the noodles weren’t to my liking. There was a lot of veggies and seafood in the soup which I liked but wasn’t too impressed with the way it was cooked. I wanted the shrimp to be out of its shell and deveined which it wasn’t. The mussels weren’t cleaned. The fish and squids were ok but not enough. The tiger roll was mediocre nothing special. It had a little too much mayo or whatever sauce they put with the crab. I wasn’t even too full and couldn’t bring myself to finish the soup. I just felt sick. don’t think I’ll be coming here for a while. Parking here sucks, it’s by a rental car place and there’s no place to park. and the parking area is already limited which doesn’t help. The venue itself needs some updating.

2013 – 2014: This place was totally different 2 years ago. The small sushi platter used to be around $ 25 + tax. The servers were high school students who were super friendly and got your order fast. You used to have to wait 20 – 30 minutes which was fine because their sushi was awesome and worth the wai. 2016: Online the small sushi platter says $ 30. Called in and they said it’s now $ 37. So your telling me you don’t honor the price you post and then you raise the amount up 20%. I get raising prices for New Years but come on. I instead ordered my rolls individually which came out cheaper and more filling than the sushi platter would have been. Ordered 9 rolls for $ 30 and fed 3 people. Wish they would hire new staff and get better service or even check how the people on Unilocal feel. I used to love this place but even the sushi isn’t as fresh and the salmon and sashimi is super super chewy. Not sure if I’ll come back. You were once my favorite sushi restaurant in the entire Bay Area. Also raisin your prices 25% a year doesn’t retain old customers.

Would give it a 3 but decided to bump it up because you really can not beat the price. If you’re on a budget and craving sushi, this is the spot. Their portion sizes are huge and for two people, you can get full for $ 30 bucks… Friendly service and the place is pretty clean. The past couple times I’ve visited has been inconsistent with the timing of when the food came out because the first time we had to wait awhile and the second time it came right out. I’d definitely come back if I didn’t feel like splurging.

Would be 3 stars, but bumped it up because of the awesome price! I have been here 2 times now. You order at the counter and then take a seat to wait for your food. They have a pretty good selection of baked, spicy and fried sushi rolls. The prices are good, but I agree with the other Unilocalers, that the quality isn’t that great. This is a great place to go to if you aren’t look for anything fancy and just want to fill up your belly with sushi. All of the rolls that I have tried have been pretty tasty. We also had the tempura green tea ice cream once and it was decent. The ice cream was icy and not smooth, probably because it was extra frozen in order to be fried.

Cant believe i hadn’t yet left my Unilocal stamp for these guys. I’ve been coming here for a while now, usually once, maybe twice a week. I have to give them 5 stars. Obviously, its not going to be the best sushi you’ve ever had. Its never gonna win any comps against Blue Ribbon or Nobu. But what they do offer is a sweet value. Dollar for dollar, you cant get any better sushi value than this. Portions are ridiculous for what they charge, yet they still are able to serve fresh fish. My favorites are the Lion King, a baked salmon concoction, and the Super Hamachi and Spicy Ahi rolls. Their bentos are equally as good. They probably get away with low prices due to their indistrial neighborhood location. And i like that most, if not all the customers are non snotty its real people. I think theres a large Hawaii contingent here too. I sense the HI accents. Yum yum sauce…

I should have had known from the smell of the place when I walked in that this place was far less than mediocre. Both of us were expecting a «good» sushi dinner and got chewy old sashimi, and dried up sushi rolls that tasted old and flavorless. I’m so disappointed and this is the first time I’ve stopped eating my sushi order because of its grossness and unappealing aesthetics. Zero customer service — you stand in line, order, pay and the food comes to you and that’s it… No one checks on you and no one asks if you actually like the food. Sorry Mr. Fat Fish — we’ll never be back. I wish I could feel different about your restaurant.

I’m giving this a 4 though my heart tells me a 3.5. I think the owners have really done their homework on tailoring the food quality, atmosphere, the layout, etc. which of course affects the total price of the meal. I know that might sound a little elitist, but I’m actually paying the owners a huge, huge compliment. My friend who lives in the tonier parts of San Ramon swears by this place and his wife is(according to him) less than thrilled about this restaurant. The restaurant is located within an area where there’s a lot of car dealership, industrial type businesses, a large public storage facility, etc. I imagine this place caters to the folks who work in the area who want a good quantity of food, of decent quality, at an affordable price. And this restaurant hits all those marks pretty well. We went there on Saturday at 1:30pm, this place was FULL with a steady stream of customers. The vibe I got is that this is a locals favorite-type of restaurant judging by the mix of customers coming in. Some guys in suits, lots of families coming back from sports events, mechanic/dealership types, etc. Just a good cross section of the business community and families. So I played it safe yesterday and got the grilled chicken teriyaki meal as did my friend who recommended it. They definitely give you a good amount of food and the sauce is typically American-ized teriyaki sauce(thick beyond belief and very, very sweet). It also comes served with a side salad with rice. I would rate the dish a 3 star for quality, 4 for quantity, so about a 3.5 overall just for the meal. Couple things about ordering here: you order first and then sit yourself. Given how fast this place fills up, I’d grab a table first if you are dining w/someone else. The menu is pretty big too, so in the time you’re trying to decide, tables might get taken. I would say that their rolls menu is probably one of the largest I’ve seen. Too bad I didn’t take a pic of the board! Parking is a challenge for sure, even on a Saturday weekend. I’d probably venture to guess its not easy finding parking in that shared lot. Overall, I’d probably visit in a pinch if I’m nearby and don’t feel like spending a lot on Japanese food. But I would much rather pay a little bit more and go to Meiko for reasons mentioned in my reviews of that restaurant.
