I came here on Father’s day to celebrate my Father’s day. I made reservations ahead of time because I didn’t know how busy it would be. When I arrived at 6pm, it wasn’t packed or anything. I wanted to try out the teppanyaki grill. We were seated promptly and I thought the chef was nice and pretty cool. He did his show, he was courteous, greeted us and such. The waitress was nice except they forgot our salad and I ordered a roll, and they completely forgot about it. So in terms of service, I would say it’s okay just because they forgot and messed up our orders. Also, it wasn’t busy. I have the impression the person who served us our soup didn’t know English much because when I asked to order the roll, she said just«Yes we have that.» And I asked to order it.(Shrugs) I think if you want the teppanyaki experience, it’s not too bad but it surprises me how one messes up the order when it’s not even that busy. The food is okay overall. I think the best item is the fried rice, it’s so good. I got the chicken, it was just okay. Parking isn’t too bad. It’s next to the busy Trader Joes but they have dedicated spots for the restaurant.

The spicy chicken teriyaki is fantastic. My husband ordered the beef Udon which was good except for the actual beef in the soup was wayyyyyy overcooked. We are waiting for the free cocoa banana dessert for checking in here! Nom Nom!

This is one of the most overlooked restaurants in the Tri-valley. The ambiance is really fancy, they put a lot of effort into how the restaurant looks from the inside — it can easily compete with those crazy must-reserve-3-months-in-advance sushi places in NY. The food is fantastic(try their sushi that comes with the«special» house sauce — oooooh) and they have Teppanyaki(when the chef cooks your food in front of you on a big table, making it a little show). To top all that, they’re open until 11pm everyday but Sunday, which is unheard of in this sleepy suburb area and creates the natural hang out place for hang outers. The prices are very reasonable and after 9pm they have a happy hour menu with huge discounts. The only downside is the DJ that started appearing recently on weekends and while he spins some great tracks, the music is just too loud to be able to communicate with friends while eating. But that’s just my opinion — I can see how some might actually like it.

Super slow. It took us 2 hours to finally got all the dishes. And they came out of order. We had appetizer last. The sashimi was not fresh. The pieces were soggy. Felt like soaked in water. I had a diarrhea that night.

We go here probably 2 – 3 times a week. Sushi has been great consistently, the service is great, the ambience is awesome and especially the happy hour, makes it very attractive. There are plenty of rolls, sashimi, Ramen, etc to pick from during the happy hours. Would definitely recommend this sushi spot. If you like spicy, hot hot roll is a must try!

Took my son here for his 16th birthday. Since Benihana is the most well known tappanyaki place around, I’ll compare it. I’d say that the non-teppanyaki menu is probably slightly better than Benihana’s. The actually teppanyaki was great. I’d say it was 90% as good as Benihana. I can’t put my finger on it, but 90% is pretty damn good if you ask me. Prices are similar. Service is similar. Food preparation at the hibachi is a little quicker than Benihana. All in all, if you like Benihana, this is a great place to go to. Also, we didn’t have to do something ridiculous like reserve a table days ahead of time or wait several hours… it wasn’t super busy so we walked in and after 15 minutes, we got a place at the grill. I will likely visit this place often, as I just moved into the area.

I’m glad we gave this place a try. From now on, this will be our go to place for sushi and teppanyaki! Service is a little slow, but everything else was great!

We order dinner to go on a Sunday, the total of which was more than $ 90. After ironically 90 minutes, we still haven’t eaten. That’s a ridiculous amount of time for food that doesn’t even have to be cooked on a Sunday of all days. We will definitely be taking your business somewhere else to someone who can NOT cook our dinner in a reasonable amount of time. Ridiculous.

Mother’s day dinner– even we had a reservation, no waiter took care of us.. We still waited at front for a long time. All the watiers and waitresses looked clueless. Very, very poor management. Thumbs down

Came by for dinner after work to kill some time while traffic died down. Spotted this place after checking out Trader Joes next door earlier in the day. It was maybe 5:45pm and the place was pretty empty. I was scared at first, thinking it was unpopular, but I enjoyed my meal. I was greeted and seated immediately at a very large open booth, I already knew to order my usual: some nice cold sake and an uni nigiri. I was given miso soup, which was a courtesy, which I was happy to see. They served chilled water in a nice stem glass with a slice of lemon, and with a straw in the glass with the top cover part still on(attention to detail! love it). I ordered too much food so I was so happy I brought home leftovers to enjoy. + miso soup(free) = was tasty. I can’t say it was special, however it didn’t taste generic, so I was pleased. + Uni nigiri $ 9.95 = What a deal! It was extremely fresh and the rice was perfect — not too cold or warm, not too mushy or hard, it was just right. + Saba Shiyoyaki meal(asked to substitute the rice with salad) $ 10.95 = Great deal also. The saba(mackerel fish) was a large fillet piece and very tender and juicy. There was a nice lemon wedge and sauce on the side for it too. It was far from dry, and the flavor was nicely balanced — not salty. The salad was a generous portion of mixed greens with that wonderful miso type of Japanese dressing. + nice sake selection, however no junmai daiginjo, which I was surprised about. (posted pics) I couldn’t eat my entire meal so I I got little less than half left to go. The server was very attentive and friendly. I saw the back of the restaurant had the hibachi style type of cooking, where the chef prepares your meal on a flat grill in front of you(think: Benihana). A family of 4 was dining back there, and I saw a few more tables in the back with some patrons. I saw a table near me with Japanese nationals looking like they just came from work or a business meeting, and they seemed to be enjoying themselves. It is a huge restaurant so I’d say it was perhaps 20% full. Yeah, not crowded. by the time I left, 2 more patrons came in. Maybe it gets busier at 9pm when they have their late happy hour(9−11pm…so it says on their website). Although Trader Joes is in the building next to it, there is ample parking for the restaurant since they have marked/reserved stalls. Otherwise that shopping center can get hectic since there are other restaurants there too, like Bawarchi and Blossom Vegan. I am likely to come here again. Great food and modern and chill atmosphere, friendly and attentive service. I hope the next time I order just enough to finish my food.

I was ready to write a 4 star review for this place, UNTIL I SAW A WAITRESSUSETHERESTROOMANDWALKOUTWITHOUTWASHINGHERHANDS! I was completely grossed out and taken back. How could she would do that in front of customers? I spoke to the manager and informed her of what I had witnessed. She made the waitress go back and wash her hands. Although she handled it, I was disgusted and lost my appetite. Also, we had a party of 25, with 3 tables/grills. One table waited 45 minutes for their food to be cooked. That bothered me since we made reservations 2 weeks prior. It was frustrating when we were all eating 40 minutes apart. The poor birthday girl ate last. Perhaps they should have an extra chef for large parties. This place has potential but I think they need to make a few adjustments.

I am a vegetarian. When I tell my friends that I goto Sushi places sometimes, they give a weird look and tell me, «What do you eat there?». Yes, you don’t get as many choices but, you don’t starve either. We went there on a weekday. We just fell in love with Ozora. It wasn’t so busy. Teppanyaki chef who was good. Great food and service. Ambience is good with nice décor. As this place is in a cluster of shops and other businesses, parking is not an issue. Food was so good that it left a deep impression on us. We would certainly keep visiting this place. Overall, very pleasing environment.

Came here because I saw a sign that they have happy hour 9−11pm Monday through Saturday. So my review is only for the happy hour. Food: My date and I shared a dragon roll $ 6.95 and katsu don $ 8.95(fried pork with egg and vegetables over rice). Both were delicious and had happy hour prices. I did wish the portions were bigger. I usually have to take a bowl entrée home as leftovers but the portion was small enough to finish up. The roll also had just 5 pieces. Atmosphere: I really like their booths! They had pillows and great for a small group of friends. It was also dim with nice lighting and a big TV in the back. Service: Our waitress was very attentive and nice. Came by whenever we were low on water and took our plates quickly, all without us asking. Since we came at 9pm, there were little people here to serve. But I still appreciate that the service was just a perfect amount and not intrusive. Thank you! Overall, I recommend coming here if you are looking for late night sushi for a decent price at a restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Perhaps for a date or an intimate gathering of some friends. But if you want the best bang for your buck(and long wait and very casual environment are not issues for you), I recommend going to Fat Fish just nearby.

1 star for the teppanyaki chef who was entertaining and did not overcook the steak! I would return again if we didn’t have such a bad experience with the host/manager/lady is white dress. Made a reservation for teppanyaki for 7 people on a Saturday night. We had 4 adults and 3 children(ages 6, 5 and 3). Their teppanyaki tables comfortably fit 8 people, 2 on each side and 4 in the middle. When we arrived, they set up our table and seated us on HALF of the table. On the side was an added little table for 2 people. They then proceeded to add a party of 5 to the other half of the table. So there were a total of 12 people squeezed onto the table. The party of 5 immediately asked to move so they can be seated comfortably. When they moved, our party proceeded to move over so that we can be seated comfortably. However, the manager/hostess/lady in white dress told us we could not move over and then sat another group of 5 on our table again! At this point, everyone was feeling awkward about the seating so we asked to be moved to our own table(which we should have gotten to begin with since we made a reservation for 7 and the table comfortable seats 8). The lady told us it will be 15 minutes so we went back out front to wait. We did not get seated until ONEHOURLATER. By the time we finally got our own table(which was reserved for 1 hour prior) the kids were grumpy and hungry. If they had seated us at our own table from the beginning instead of trying to accommodate walk-ins by squeezing them in with us, everything would have been great! We also found the attitude of the lady in the white dress to be very rude and unaccommodating. Maybe because we had young kids with us, they thought the kids did not need much space. However, the kids each took up their own seat and each ordered their own meals. Plus, the kids were the only reason we were there that night instead of a real sushi restaurant.

Wow! This is the best Hibachi I’ve had in California! Better than Benihana’s and Kobe Japan. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and the lighting sets a great ambience. There’s a regular seating area, bar and 6 hibachi grills(I think, there might be a couple more). Each area has ample space so you won’t feel smushed no matter where you up sitting. I came here for lunch and ordered the black filet which is black tiger shrimp and filet mignon. All hibachi entrees include clear broth soup, a house salad, your choice of meat, and veggies. I ate every single thing on my plate! This will now be my absolute ‘go to’ for all hibachi! OISHI!!!(yummy in Japanese)

I drive by this place a bunch. Its pretty unassuming on the outside but nicely renovated on the inside. This place is huuge by sushi standards… although about half of it was for the teppanyaki shows. We were here on a Friday and it was pretty empty for this day. Sat down in a nice booth and ordered up a beer, some nigiri, a fancy rainbow roll, a kids katsu, and a few more pairs of nigiri for the wife. $ 85!!! Whooaaa… didnt expect that. We paid City prices out in the burbs. For what its worth, the nigiri sushi was fresh. No complaints there. The roll was flavorful, but lacking actual fish. There were small slivers in there somewhere. The kids plate was pretty large — the katsu was crispy and moist. Biggest disappointment was by far the calamri. $ 9.95 for five sad rings. Holy shat. Oh well… maybe i’ll be back when my piggy bank is replenished. Turn down the pricing a schoche and this place gets 4.5 stars.

Oh my Gosh! Best sushi ever! I’ve a lot of sushi in the the 12 years since I married my half Japanese husband, but this place rocked! Starting with the large open spaced restaurant and robust menu it was very welcoming. We had three different sushi rolls that were amazing and very fresh. The chef really put his artistic touch on all our dishes. After that amazing appetizer, we went on to be entertained by a different chef for the main dish. Grilled vegetables, chicken, steak, shrimp and fried rice. Lots of fire and spinning utensils, Was it ever good! Way too much to eat. Had to box up some to take home. Check out all the pictures! Way to go!

It’s A-OK and not great. My $ 21 chirashi dish was small and not tasty. My shrimp was not fresh and I felt worried after I ate it. The rice wasn’t very tasty either. Waitress kinda threw our miso soup on the table where a little spilled out. The free salad was great.

Ozora is a large spacious restaurant serving Teppanyaki & Sushi. The Teppanyaki looks fun & entertaining– this is where the chef cooks the food in front of you similar to Benihana. I have yet to try this here. However, what I do know is they have a great late night Happy Hour from 9pm-11pm. You must ask for the Happy Hour Menu because they place the regular menu in front of you if you don’t ask for it. What we ordered: –Fried Oysters– crunchy on the outside & soft on the inside. –Beef Short Ribs– can’t go wrong with meat & rice! –9 piece Sashimi– very fresh even after 9pm. –Wendy Roll– fried roll with cream cheese & fish. Delicious! –Orange Head Roll– good but not memorable –O-Toro — delighted to find O-Toro in the East Bay… What a treat! –Salmon Skin Roll– one of our yummy staples. And of course– you need a bottle of Sake to wash all the good food down with! Service is great and they are open till 11pm on the weekend. So if you’re in the area & craving Japanese… make sure to check out Ozora!
