This place was honestly so impressive! Came in around 5:45 and it was not busy at all. We were seated immediately, and were given complimentary miso soup and edamame! My friend and I ordered two rolls and gyoza — all 3 were delicious. I got the Kaki Special and it was so fresh and super tasty! They also gave us a complimentary fried fish. The service was exceptional, and my first experience there was so memorable. We also got complementary ice cream at the end(green tea and mango)! Highly recommend this place and I will definitely be back.

I enjoyed my meal here at the lunch time with my friend. We ordered bento box with teriyaki chicken and california roll, Ichiban sushi roll, and Chicken udon. I ate the chichen udon which had a lot of sliced carrots, mushrooms, and zucchini in it and had sliced grilled chicken. One of the good thing about this restaurant is that it gives a small scoop of ice cream for the dessert without charging fee for ice cream. There are two flavor, mango and green tea. I went with my friend, so we got two different flavor. The ice cream was tasty, and the food was good. I only give a point off for the Ichiban sushi roll because it was a small roll. The price as we all know is no different than other sushi restaurant because it is what it is. Otherwise, sushi tastes good.

Interior is very cozy traditional Japanese restaurant atmosphere. Came in 7:30 on Saturday night, still very busy. The service is very quick. My Unagi Donburi is good. Unagi itself is perfectly cooked but rice is a bit hard. The tempera is ok. Shiyosaba is very good. The teriyaki beef is so so. After all, the service is very good. We will try raw stuff next time.

The service is nice and they give you complimentary items but the sushi is pretty bad. I tried this place twice and was disappointed both times. The green sauced stuff that came on my sushi wasn’t pleasing to look at and even worse to taste. The quality of fish isn’t good and it’s way overpriced. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Service(3⁄5 stars) — I decided to have lunch with a girlfriend of mine. We wanted to get some sushi and I wanted to try a different place. Sooooo I chose this place. As soon as we walked into the restaurant, we got greeted and we got our table. The restaurant is a pretty small place but it wasn’t super busy or anything for lunch hour. they have a large selection of rolls and it was hard to pick. F O O D Comes with complimentary edamame and miso soup Nemo roll(3⁄5 stars) — this roll was a regular California roll with a different variety of cooked fish on top. Kind of like a lion king roll style sushi but it wasn’t baked enough. So it just looked like mayo and fish on top of a California roll. It was average. Grilled Squid(2⁄5 stars) — the texture of the squid was fine. But it wasn’t grilled enough to have that grilledddd carcinogen taste. The sauce on top of it wasn’t That good. It also comes with squid tempura. The batter for that wasn’t good… Sadly. Wished it came with a mayo dip for the grilled squid though.

Pleasanton is home to some of the most fresh sushi spots in the tri-valley. But during my visit at Kaki, I had to say that the fish was just OK. We ordered 2 rolls(Sushi boy and the OMG roll) and and gyoza for lunch! The meal came with complimentary miso soup, edamame, and green tea ice cream which is a major plus. The OMG roll was explosive and sweet to the taste buds, and the sushi boy was a simple salmon roll.

This is our family sushi spot in the Pleasanton/Dublin area. I enjoy it because is a small family restaurant. I’ll admit, the customer service can be hit or miss, but I’d say 8⁄10 times it’s always pretty good for us. I do believe when it’s packed the serving team gets overwhelmed so they forget things, but the food is good and they are always really nice to our family. I LOVE their salmon skin hand roll. My husband usually gets the nigiri mix or chirashi bowl. I’ll play around with the menu. Both kitchen and sushi bar are really good! Very random thing, but our family likes this place because it isn’t «show offy» like the other Japanese restaurants we’ve gone to in the area. It’s a very simple restaurant and its about the food, which I love about it(and you get free ice cream too). Since I usually order from the sushi bar, I love that they have a really good selection of traditional rolls and special rolls withOUT all the fancy sauces and you can just enjoy the fish as fish. I feel with the newer spots, it’s about how much sauce & crap you put on it and lose the roll itself with all the glitz and glam of random toppings.

I went there to eat for the first time with my wife because the reviews seemed solid with over 400 reviews and it fell short. I call Kaki Sushi shortly after my experience letting them know I wanted to tell the manager or experience and no one has returned my call. This leads me to believe they do not care about their customers and how they can improve. I have eaten at probably every sushi restaurant in Pleasanton and many in Dublin and this was sadly the worst around. I ordered the ika fry and it was too chewy and the oil it was fried in was old. I have made ika dry at home and mine might not have been as tasty but it was not chewy or cooked in burned oil. I also ordered a roll and bento box, not special at all. The salmon in the bento box wasn’t flavored, rather tasteless. The miso soup was also lacking some flavor, I could confidently say my home made miso soup was more tasty. I am still hoping someone from the restaurant will call me back so I can let them know of my experience. To make up for this experience I’m looking to go back to my go-to sushi spot Meiko and Zakuro.

I come here weekly. After trying various Sushi joints in the Pleasanton Dublin area this is my favorite. Excellent Fresh food, great staff and a very nice atmosphere. The prices are excellent for the food, and you get some delicious complimentary ice cream at the end of your meal. Sit at the bar on weekends and you’ll usually share some nice Sake with the Chef. Try it! Hand Rolls are nice sized and most importantly, tasty. Their grilled an fried fare is great as well, and they have a nice exotic flavor to them. The place is very clean, as are the bathrooms.

I’m a vegetarian, but I end up going to a lot of sushi places… Kaki sushi is probably up in my top 3! Service: Super friendly staff. Clearly a lot of business people and vegetarians come here because they were quick, efficient, and knowledgeable about what I could order. Ambiance: From the outside Kaki sushi looks tiny, but it really opens up and has a minimalist zen layout on the inside. Definitely felt relaxed as I was eating lunch. Food: The vegetarian roll was great — the vegetables and tofu tasted extremely fresh. I also enjoyed the complimentary miso soup and edamame. The green tea ice cream at the end was delicious. Although it was hard to find, I’m glad I came! The only improvement they could make would be to add a few more vegetarian rolls.

My friend and I came here after a tough night of studying and were welcomed in so warmly. The place is really quaint, I remember coming here years ago and it seems almost the same. They gave us a complimentary fried fish appetizer that was so yummy! It was the perfect amount of crispiness and saltiness that was just delicious. Judging by the other reviews, this place seems to love treating its customers to complimentary treats. I love places that geniunly want their customers to have a good experience at their restaurant. The rolls were also super fresh and delicious. Price point is also great. Will for sure be back here after those hard study grind nights.

As per Unilocal’s 3 star comment, this place is A-OK. The restaurant is located in a big spacious plaza kind of off to the side but parking is easy. The restaurant itself is surprisingly big inside and there were plenty of seats when I went. Like most new sushi places I got my standard chirashi + one extra item. The chirashi came with a bowl of miso soup and a salad. The chirashi is what I expected: a decent number of a basic selection of fish. The cuts were thick like most Korean run sushi places(which is good or bad depending on your preference). The rice had good texture but below average taste. Fish quality ranged from tasting alright to freshly thawed. Not bad but not extremely fresh either. My extra item was an order of Kampachi nigiri. I was happy they gave 3 pieces of nigiri instead of 2. Taste/freshness wise the same as the chirashi. Overall not a half bad place at all and the free scoop of ice cream at the end was a nice. The service was fast and attentive. While it wasn’t spectacular I wouldn’t mind coming again.

Really good service with some really good rolls — came here on a Friday night with my girlfriends and got complimentary green tea and mango ice cream. Their rolls are reasonably priced with good portions and their raw fish isn’t too bad — it’s nothing straight from the ocean, but this is Pleasanton. East bay is literally not from the ocean so what can you expect? Would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a quiet sushi dinner with fast service.

I really enjoyed my overall experience here because of the great food, service, and atmosphere. I came here for dinner with 3 friends and right when we walked in we were greeted by our super friendly server and did not have to wait for a table. After we finished ordering, we were brought a complimentary fish dish that was very good and had a great tangy, soy, lemony flavor. We we also given complimentary edamame which was a on the more overcooked and mushy side which isn’t too big of a deal for me. I was not too hungry and so I ordered the sake roll and an unagi hand roll which were both pretty good for the price. I expected the sake roll to be bland since it is just seaweed rice and salmon, but the hand roll was surprisingly bland, no extra sauce or anything like what many other sushi places do. Not a problem that soy sauce can’t fix though. Overall, I would definitely come back here if I was in the area for the accommodating service and the complimentary dishes. Parking was also easy to find because of the private plaza parking lot.

When I’m craving for sushi plus a side of «tons of extra freebies», Kaki Sushi immediately comes to mind. They have an extensive menu from your teriyaki/katsu dinner sets, udon, and donburi to your sashimi and sushi rolls. The options are limitless. We ordered what I order at every sushi joint, my «staples»: caterpillar roll, dragon roll & lion king roll + sexy sexy roll and crazy roll. All the rolls were solid and did not disappoint. I really appreciated how all the rolls were not saturated with sauce! Throughout our meal, we got complimentary miso soup, salad, edamame, and a piece of grilled salmon on bone(it was so savory and sweet, NOMS!). At the end of our meal, we got a free scoop of matcha ice cream. Kaki Sushi is definitely one to visit if you’re ever craving for sushi rolls plus more! I’d pass on the sashimi here as it isn’t the best or freshest compared to other sushi houses in the area. Service was phenomenal and the seating arrangement was very comfortable.

Like everyone else, I was wowed by the amount free food they offer. They give you miso soup, edamame, a free fish appetizer and Ice cream at the end. On top of that, the food is reasonably priced and service is prompt. My mom had the chirashi, and I had the red dragon roll, unagi handroll, and what I believe was called the volcano roll which has no rice. I thought the chirashi was a good size with a good amount of fish. The red dragon roll was really tasty and it had a lot of flavor. The unagi hand hand roll was simple but delicious. My least favorite part was the volcano roll or whatever its called, and it had no flavor and the spicy tuna was dried out. Food came out really fast even though it wasn’t super slow. Everyone was super friendly and said hello when you come in and goodbye when you leave. I will definitely be back here.

Zensai!!! There is no shortage of complimentary appetizers here at Kaki Sushi — free miso soup, green salad, edamame, vegetable pancake, and fried fish fillet. Instead of the latter, ask if you can have grilled salmon fish bone. It is not available all the time, but it is the better alternative. Nibble away that fish until all that is left is the skeleton! Most of the rolls that we’ve tried were OK with the Chuck Norris and OMG rolls as the headliners. The Chuck Norris roll has shrimp tempura and avocado topped with salmon, spicy crab, tobiko, and green onion. The OMG roll is filled with crab stick and avocado with spicy tuna and unagi on top. I could have listed a few more but I’m not too thrilled with their crab stick. Don’t get me wrong, I’m fine with imitation crab if it were shredded and mixed with Japanese mayonnaise. However, rolling a stick of imitation crab inside a sushi roll is not cool. For me, that’s cutting corners. After all, how difficult is it to tear an imitation crab? Sushi is an art and half of the overall experience is how the food is plated. This is one aspect where Kaki Sushi needs some help. Their spicy mayo looks too pale and their unagi sauce is a bit translucent. Also, what’s up with the green sauce? The colors don’t seem to blend well with the presentation. My daughter gave the Kid’s Choice Award to the Beef Yaki Udon. This is actually one of the better stir-fried noodles that we have tasted. Special mention went to the free ice cream at the end of the meal. How could I disagree with her?

We visited Kaki Sushi because we wanted to try another Japanese restaurant in our area. Kali is easy to find if you know where the Walmart Neighborhood store is. The restaurant is located on the north side of the strip mall. As many people have said, the staff is super cool and friendly. As I’m Korean, I recognized most if not all of the staff there are Korean. My Taiwanese fiancé noticed that they’re playing Korean music in the background too. Anyways it’s all good. Dae Han min guk ;) As was the food, but somethings weren’t as good as I’d prefer. First what’s nice is that upon sitting, they bring you out a complimentary salad and miso soup. I liked their miso soup better than Meiko’s because it was less salty. The salad was average. I ordered grilled mackerel(Saba) and the lady ordered sashimi. We also ordered the agedashi tofu. I’d say her sashimi was pretty fresh and tasty. The tuna was especially good. My Saba was unfortunately a little overcoooked but still good. They give you two pieces, so I had some left over. Oh after ordering dinner entrees, they give you a complimentary fried fish. In Korean they call this complimentary bonus dish«service» or in Konglish«suhr-bis-oo»(phonetically spelled out). Just so you know :). This fish actually was better than my Saba. The agedashi tofu was outstanding. It was fried with a tempura batter and was crispy on the outside. They didn’t bathe it in a bowl of the sauce either. This is how I prefer it served so I don’t have to eat it too quickly lest the coating become too mushy. Anyways we were in a hurry because I had to go to the gym for training, but overall it was a good experience with good service. Plan to return for a non rushed meal.
