Came in for the first time today and after looking at the prices I thought I was just gonna get some mediocre food. But I was VERY wrong. I ordered the bun bo hue and it was great quality and quantity for just $ 8. My boyfriend ordered 3 different banh mis and we shared an order of spring rolls. All that totaled out to be around $ 22. Great service as well. Will definitely be back.

Ridiculously cheap and delicious banh mi. Phở was good as well.

It’s a small family ran Asian cuisine resteraunt. Upon entry the staff made us felt very welcome and gave us excellent recommendations. I ordered a banh mi cha lua and also a banh mi thit nuong. Both these sandwiches are famous in traditional Vietnamese culture and the preparations of them here at banh mi café superceeded my expectations. They added a mixture of eggs on my meat sandwich which was a blend of taste I never had on banh mi before, making it an even more worth wild tasting experience.

Went in here yesterday and had those shrimp/pork rolls with the rice paper – so delicious and refreshing and then got some seafood phở which was great. Fast service and they didn’t make me feel bad for using a fork(I try to assimilate but would end up making a big mess for the poor waiter) They have a ton of smoothies that I can’t wait to try although it will be hard not to order the same thing every time… that good!

I love this place so much! The owners are super nice and the food is cheap! My car died here and they were so helpful and understanding. They have all sorts of food here, not just banh mi. Everytime I eat here I am never disappointed. They try to offer their suggestions if you are sure of what you want, but they are super sweet! Love coming here for a quick lunch. Plus if you buy 5 banh mi, you get one free

Love love love love. I live so close and I can get lunch for $ 3.34. Its super authentic and delicious. Food: I have only had the egg rolls(6), bbq pork banh mi, and thai tea smoothie and everything is really good. My only one complaint is that the quality of meat in the sandwich varies as does the amount of meat. Obviously everyone always wants a meaty sandwich and sometimes you dont get that. Service: I never wait for more than 5 minutes regardless of what I order, the small lady that make the food is always sweet and smiling to me Price: The smoothies are more than the sandwiches which I am totally ok with bc the price is so good. Tips: There is never anyone in the restaurant when I go but don’t let that deter you. It is divine.

I have one word for this place. Amazing. When we walked in smelled good but didn’t expect anything special… we looked at the menu and saw how cheap the prices were and were afraid that a 3 dollar sandwich wouldn’t fill us up… so we each got two… turns out a THREE dollar sandwhich is about the size of a subway footlong and SOSOMUCHBETTER… The service was fast and nice and the food was really good. The rib eye Bahn mi was delicious

Self seating the sandwiches start at $ 3 each, this is a total mom and pop joint. Food was pretty good, not as popping as ILUVPHO so if you want to try something a little more intimate i would try this place. Food took about 15 – 20 min to arrive. the rice dishes are a MUSTTRY! :) DONTTRYTHEPHO! it was flavorless, just stick to the sandwiches or the rice dishes, however i want to come back and try the cold noodle(Bun) dishes.

Was traveling back to Asheville and stopped here for dinner. Not a specifically vegetarian place, but the owner was very eager to make several dishes vegetarian, and even vegan, friendly. We shared the clear wrap avocado roll, which was very flavorful, and a stir fry noodle dish with veggies and tofu(also fresh and awesome). We also decided to order a Banh Mi for the road home(spicy mushroom) and it was the best I’ve had this far. Would highly recommend this place! And hope to drive through that area again soon.

So I wrote this review 2 years ago and I’m still standing by my words today. I came back assuming that things have changed for the better by now… NOPE. They are still as dirty as the first day I was there in 2013. WTF? They don’t use gloves to make the sandwiches, they use their bare hands and you could imagine cross contamination of meat to vegetables. OMG, what’s so hard about using gloves to make the sandwiches? They’re inexpensive and will save you reviews like this. The tables with the cheap table vinyl cloth are sticky and everything in there is just old and dusty. The floors are gross. Their sandwiches are probably the best I’ve eaten in the area but they’ve got to clean up, literally. It’s too dirty.

A change of scenery from the usual hustle and bustle of Pleasant Hill Road, Banh Mi Café belongs to a quiet plaza off of Satellite. I’m shocked by the terrible reviews. I made plans to eat here by the 4 star overall review before I scrolled down and realized the average score among my friends was between 2 – 3. Yikes. And while scrolling through the pictures, I wondered if I picked the wrong Viet restaurant for dinner. Parking in the nearly empty lot made me feel even more wary than I already felt. My friend told me she was almost there so I went ahead and ventured inside. There were maybe one or two other tables occupied, one of which sat the cute little owner(I recognized her from pictures on Unilocal). The menu is limited, but offers all the basics, from phở to rice dishes, spring rolls to(of course) banh mi. I couldn’t decide on a dish, as I was craving a rice dish, a vermicelli dish, phở or a banh mi. At the last moment, I decided on a medium(the smallest size) phở dac biet and a BBQ pork banh mi. I saw pictures of the tiny medium bowl of phở on Unilocal but I felt that the size was sufficient for me. I had half of my banh mi and could barely finish my medium phở. With the appetite that I have, that’s saying a lot. The phở wasn’t bad — there was a pretty good proportion of noodles to meat. Once I mixed in my bean sprouts, jalapeño and sriracha, it was a little hard to taste the broth, but I enjoyed my phở. The larger variety of meat led to one of each kind of meat, which I suppose is standard for a smaller size portion of phở. I was so hungry I forgot to take a photo before I devoured my phở. My banh mi had a nice toasted crispy baguette and there was an average amount of meat. Butter dripped off the sandwich, which was a bit too much for me to handle but it was still delicious. The menu had more adventurous banh mi I could have tried but BBQ pork banh mi was my standard order among all banh mi shops. Overall, a cheaper option for dinner in Duluth that satisfied my Vietnamese phở craving. However, I believe there may be better restaurants along Pleasant Hill or Buford Highway for higher quality and better tasting dishes.

Came by with a friend while visiting from out of state for a quick lunch. Atmosphere isn’t the best and our table was a bit sticky. Server was attentive and helpful with suggestions. Ordered the banh mi dac biet and loved it. Hoping to come back and try with avocado! For the price(less than $ 4) it’s definitely worth the visit.

Banh Mi Café is ok. I came here on a weekend afternoon for a late lunch. I usually get the banh mi dac biet(combination). The bread is chewy, and the sandwich contents was decent. I also had a coconut smoothie/tea drink thing. This came out much later after the sandwiches, so eh… I was kind of hoping to drink it while eating my sandwich. Service is ok. This place seems more attentive than the other Vietnamese restaurants I’ve been to. Like Lee’s and Quoc Huong, they honor the multiple sandwiches deal where if you buy 5, you get the 6th free. Most importantly, they honor it if you ate there and want to bring home the extra sandwiches. So this was nice since we decided we could eat banh mi again later in the day. Banh Mi Café is out of the way for me, but it’s a decent stop if you’re craving banh mi in the Duluth area.

I think the reason why this place is so highly ranked is due to the fact… the food is super cheap. I mean, $ 3 for a meal that can fill you up? I don’t blame people. I wish I knew about this place when I was in college! Could have came here before going back to Athens some days, haha. Parking’s not bad here. Banh Mi Café is in a small strip, so, eh, there are several spots. I’ve only been here during late dinners, so spots are open and I’m not struggling to find one. Space and Service — They are actually pretty big inside. I was surprised. I kind of thought it’d be smaller. Service is ok. I think when we went a few times, there were only like 3 tables. But the lady wasn’t very good at visiting the tables, refilling waters, and etc. :/I thought maybe the first time I went, she had a bad day, but after the 2nd and 3rd time, I kind of figured that’s how this place is run. Food — The egg rolls come out in tiny pieces. Not what I was expecting. They were meh. Too greasy & the ingredients weren’t popping. The sauce wasn’t really zinging either. I’d pass on these. I actually think BuHi’s Phở Dai Loi’s eggrolls are better in presentation and taste. BBQ Pork Banh Mi — Bread was good. The meat was bland. Definitely need to up their game on this. The Banh Mi itself was big, but just wasn’t put together well. Kind of messy. Also, way too much mayo/sauce. Overpowered everything. I’ll have to try another one. But right now, I live closer to BuHi so, Quoc Huang may be my go to still. Sorry guys! Since this place is cheap, I’d come here if I were on a budget + near Duluth.

A decent and local place to get banh mi at a good price. I really like the variety of banh mis. My favourite is the bbq pork with scrambled egg and avocado. My go to sandwich. The only thing that really bugs me about this place is the lack of customer service. I’ve called in to the place several times for a to-go order. And its always a viet lady that answers the phone. Her english and manners are terrible. She’s really curt on the phone and just hangs up after I tell her my order. From my experience, she messes up the order at least 3 out of the 5 times I call in. Its just really annoying to pick up the food to find out that its not what you ordered. But you paid for what you had ordered. Really on the fence about coming back here or not.

I don’t know if I just went on an off day, but it didn’t fit in with all the wonderful reviews. We ordered 4 different things to get a taste of a few different things. I just moved from the Buford Hwy area with Lee’s Bakery and Quoc Huong as my usual Banh mi places and what I ordered just didn’t match up. BBQ spring rolls: the bbq pork is just not what I’m used to. It was thicker and dryer. The spring roll skin needed to be soaked in warm water longer to be less hard and chewy. BBQ Banh Mi: again the pork was weird. The pickled radish and carrots were sparse. I feel like the pickled vegetables are what make the taste of these sandwiches and there wasn’t enough flavor. Banh Mi with Garlic Sausage: definitely had more flavor than the bbq banh mi, but I was not the biggest fan of the sausage. It was kind of like a hot dog consistency. My husband said it was okay for him though. Combination Banh Mi: My husband ordered this one and seemed to enjoy it. Even though this place is Banh Mi café maybe the noodle and rice dishes are better than the banh mis? I AM willing to go back and try some other dishes. BBQ sandwiches are always my favorite so I may even order that again to make sure it is not an off day.

They have a deal on banh mi(buy 5, get 1). I totally got the deal to stock up on sandwiches to bring for lunch to work for a week. Great deal and prices. The guy who runs the front is very nice and use to be surfer. We also tried a combo for a pork chop or something, not bad either. If I want to get some cheap and pretty good banh mi’s again I say this is a good option.

Omg. This place is awesome! Now mind you, it won’t be the BEST Viet food, but it’s pretty up there, hence the 5 stars(very rarely would I do so). Don’t judge the exterior of this place like I did. Like most places, be a fair consumer and let the experience, food, and service be the judge of things. So the owner is Caucasian. Let’s just put it out there. He will introduce himself and ensure you that he’s more than qualified because he’s been eating Viet food for over 26 years. His gf is the main chef, and she’s Viet. Does that ease your mind? He’s pretty knowledgeable about the different varieties of Viet food so you can test his knowledge or just let him give you a consultation. I was with a non-Viet friend, and the owner swung by and offered his services to her. I sat there quietly and listened, and of course I didn’t let on that I was Viet. lol. The banh mi dac biet was pretty good. I’d say it’s comparable to Quoc Huong, but a lot closer to home for me. The bread was crispy and had enough spread to give it moisture, not like some places where it’s dry like heck. My friend had the bun with pork and shrimp. She scarfed that thing down like nobody’s business. I’d say she’s impressed with it. We were told the fish sauce was homemade, something of the gf’s secret recipe. So for the atmosphere, food, hospitality, and price, this place gets 4 ½, but why not just round up since Banh Mi Café is super cozy. My friend and I felt super welcomed the instant we entered. Oh. This place isn’t large and spacious. It’s about the size of Quoc Huong. Just an FYI. So this place is on the outskirts of Gwinnett Place Mall. It will be in a cluster with other stores and businesses. I believe it’s in the complex call Gwinnett Station(?). It’s sort of at the intersection of Market Street and Satellite Blvd. Banh Mi Café is on the end of one of the strips. Parking is on the lesser end of the spectrum, but don’t worry about needing to park far. This strip isn’t popular so there will be enough parking.
