Food is 4 stars, but the service and beer are 2 stars. A previous reviewer referred to «helicopter servers» and that’s a good characterization. I had a black IPA — one of my favorite beer styles — and I chose not to finish it(and that’s definitely not a common occurrence for me!). Come for the food and view but don’t expect much from the service or brews.

The appetizer came out very quickly, before my water or cocktail. It was great. Dirty dishes sitting on the table must not be offensive in Duluth, Mn. Great food, great location, over priced food and lousy service.

What’s better than an ice cold beer and great food right by Lake Superior? Second time at Canal Brewing and both times were very good. Today I had the Point View Walt beer which was great and a pork quesadilla. The quesadilla was LOADED with pork and came with sour cream and fresh salsa. The price for the quesadilla($ 10.99) vs portion was very generous. I would defiantly recommend stopping by for lunch or dinner at this place, the indoor and outdoor atmosphere is great and there are great views of the lake. Staff is friendly and food/beer was great.

Great atmosphere! Tried a complete flight of beer! Fun to taste 14 different beers! Even as a non-beer drinker, I enjoyed trying them all! We had the hummus tray appetizer, which was excellent. One in my party had the Reuben and fries, he said it was one of the best ever! Another had the fish tacos, fresh and tasty with just the right amount of flavor, not too spicy. I had the sliders! Yummy! Loved the sauce! Perfectly cooked, toasted buns, caramelized onions, cheese, wow! On a cool summer eve we took our drinks outside by the fire to end our lovely dinner. Beautiful.

Like the food not the beer. Their burgers were good Reuben was great. But the beer is not even close to being the best in Duluth. Great location in Canal Park if your visiting from out of town.

Second time in Duluth from Rochester and had to come back for the great service and food. Get here early as spots fill up fast. Ordered their incredible garlic wings(personally think they are the best in MN). Beer selections are varied and appeal to any taste. A must come in Duluth.

Nice place. A bit expensive, but the food is great. Service is good; a few miscues, but not bad service. The pork nachos are a must try. I had the rueben, nearly perfect. My bride had the Asian chicken wrap, very good. Soninlaw had the lemon chicken, he said it was perfect. My daughter’s burger was good, but all the jalapeños were in a stack –one VERY hot bite! The soups are good. The Bloody Mary is apparently good. The Beers are ok.

Food was excellent. We had a blast trying out samples of all the brews. The view and patio were amazing both times. Loved the tour and the vibe. No problems biking in with a dig either. Our fav brew place in the best travel city in Minnesota.

We came here twice to eat on vacation with our dog and they were really awesome about having our furry baby. The food was really good and definitely suggest the burgers. The beer selection was varied and we tried several different taps which were all great. We would have been here four times but the rain kept us away having the puppy with us.

I would give the place a 4.5, but a 5 is more fitting than a 4. First off, the location is superb, and with some better weather, the patio would be so much more welcoming. They do have a fire pit if it’s cold outside though! The atmosphere is very welcoming and they have their beer list in a few locations so you don’t have to squint like I always do. Second, the beer. They had nine of their beers on tap, plus two guest ciders. Their brown ale has apparently won a silver at the 2014WBC. We sampled a few and I was fond of them all. My wife decided to get the Secret Surf Session IPA and I got the Neo German Wheat. I loved mine! My wife has pleased with hers as well. Not as quality beers as Bent Paddle down the road, but definitely drinkable beers. Third, the food. I had the firehouse burger(I think so). It had capicola and some other stuff but it was soooooo good!!! I had beer cheese soup on the side. My wife got fish and chips and said it was«super amazing». The fish was mahi mahi. Overall, I would recommend this place. Bret was a great server and extremely friendly, although he wasn’t very spot on with bringing out water(it’s alright Bret, thanks for being so nice). The food and beer were delicious and it had a splendid view and atmosphere.

This is a great spot on Canal Park and close to Downtown Duluth and the DECC. They have a great patio facing Lake Superior, lots of indoor seating, and a good menu. I had the taco salad which I didn’t happen to like(not enough salsa, cilantro, chili seasoning in the burger meat)…but other dishes looked good and the beer was very good. It’s a great space to hang out — nice and open with great views. The service is fast, and the prices reasonable.

Very knowledgable about their beers but kind of has helicopter servers. Prices are reasonable. Didn’t have food so I can’t comment on that.

The beers may be relatively unexciting(but still good!), but my wallet would be in danger if I lived here during the summer. Sitting out on the patio with the firepit overlooking the lake and lakeshore path was a perfect way to enjoy an afternoon in Duluth. The food looked fun and interesting, although we stuck with our beers. IPA is solid but not outstanding. Super fun atmosphere for anyone, even the non-beer geek.

We just stopped here for some drinks, so I cannot comment on the food — although I’ve only heard good things. I wanted something lighter, so I went with a Dab’s, my brother got the Trippel and my Dad got the Brown Ale. I really liked that the brewers kettles were visible and they were super explanatory regarding their brewing process. The beers were all enjoyable, and the staff was attentive. Outside is pet friendly on the patio so it was fun seeing all the different pups. There are about a dozen tables looking out over the lake, and there is a huge propane firepit with chairs surrounding it. They even had an old employee out there busking and playing some music — it was such a fun atmosphere!

Had a great experience at Canal Park. I had the opportunity to experience several(okay, many) of their flavorful, easy drinking beers and several appetizers. I found all the food to be very tasty and the servers did a great job. I have no reservations suggesting a visit. Great view of Lake Superior too.

Every time I’m in Duluth this is a must! The food is fantastic and the beer is even better. My favorite is their Dawn Treader Tripel. For a 9.2% beer it goes down incredibly smooth. This trip I tried their Pear Cider. Tart and bubbly I throughly enjoyed this drink as well. To eat I had the hummus plate, which at $ 12 seemed a little much, but trust me when I tell you, it was definitely worth it. I even had left overs! The bartender was very friendly and attentive. And seeing as he had a section to tend to as well as the bar(which was full) that’s a great thing to have. This is on my list of places people must take in while in Duluth.

This is a good location in Canal Park with a fair amount of its own parking. It’s an easy walk from the hotels in the neighborhood, particularly the Hampton. Service here was solid, the beer selection was good, and the menu looked great, but most of the food was good though not that memorable. The Beer Cheese Soup, though, was all star! It was rich, thick, tangy, sharp, steaming with just the right amount of crunchy popcorn. Go here, if only for that soup and to try the beer.

There are quite a few breweries that take Mondays and Tuesdays off. I’m happy that Canal Park Brewing Company doesn’t follow that trend because it meant I was able to stop in while in Duluth(on a Tuesday afternoon). The bar and seating is spacious and clean with a more modern feel. There is an outdoor patio but we opted for a table inside.(This ended up being a good call as we later watched seagulls harassing outside diners for their leftover bread.) Knowing we had dinner plans, my friend and I decided to split both a beer flight and a sandwich so we wouldn’t spoil our appetites. The Reuben sandwich and fries were the perfect snack to have with our beers. I enjoyed the Nut Hatch Brown, Foggy Jack(porter), 40 Acre Saison and Golden Strong. We also tried Stoned Surf(IPA), Hank and Dab’s(pale ale) and Clear Waters(cream ale) which I did not enjoy as much. If you’re walking around Duluth, stumble in to Canal Park Brewing for a drink and a snack and a great view. And then maybe stumble out. Just not into Lake Superior.

Canal Park Brewing Company is ok. We waited a very long time for our food after we ordered. One of the meals we ordered was incorrect when it was served… but they fixed it quickly with no problem. The side salads were pretty plain and not that flavorful. The kids’ mac and cheese was about the size of a cup for $ 6. The quesedillas were the smallest 3 little pieces I’ve ever seen on a quesedilla plate… which were way overpriced. The nachos were horrible. It was like someone took the crumbs from the bottom of a chip bag, dumped them in a basket, sprinkled some unmelted, cold cheese on them, and tossed some cold pieces of pork on top… along with some beans, corn, etc… all cold. The turkey burger was very small, completely dry, and pretty flavorless. The only saving grace was that the asparagus and egg sandwich was excellent! Would definitely be interested in eating that again. I would recommend wearing a thick winter coat during the summer as the air conditioning is set at frigid.
