My husband and I had dinner tonight at this place and let me tell you. The best tasting sushi I had in a very long time. Everything is so god and fresh. Price is very comparable and worth every penny. Service was great, food was great, atmosphere was great and price was AWESOME for what you got. I will go back for sure. My new favorite place.

This place is very small but the food is big on taste. I came on a Wednesday evening so I didn’t have to wait; just walked in and sat at the bar. This is by far the best sushi I have eaten on this end of town.

The food at this place was good but not great. I’m giving two stars mainly because the wait was extremely long both to sit and to order. It’s a small place so it gets extremely packed on Friday and Saturday nights apparently. So if you go, make sure you go on a weekday. It was over an hour before we actually got any food. The food wasn’t bad, but definitely wasn’t worth the wait.

Visited on a Friday night total of 3 adults and 3 children. The place is small so I wouldn’t recommend for a large group. There is no waiting area so expect to exit and enter while waiting to be seated but brace yourself because the wait to sit is a walk in the park compared to the amount of time you will be waiting to eat. Sodas are canned(without refills) and they only carry Sprite, Coke and like fruit punch. Not kid friendly as there is no kid menu available(so essentially not parent friendly… This mom would like to enjoy some dang sushi without having to get a sitter for her kid) The sushi was average at most but with the hunger we had built up with the ridiculously long wait we inhaled them like they were heaven sent. No apologies were made by waitress or manager in regards to the excessively long wait. No discounts or deserts were offered as a courtesy to make things right. 3 small roll dishes, 1 chicken teriyaki, 2 Gyoza orders and an edamame. The appetizers came out with the food … That’s annoying. The price was around $ 60 – 70. Would definitely not make this my go to sushi spot and that sucks because I live up the street just minutes away but I would rather drive somewhere else for better sushi and a more pleasant service experience.

Service is great. We love the food. The price is reasonable. We love the complimentary chicken-based soup. For people love spicy, try Triple-X. We really recommend this amazing sushi restaurant.

Came in 30mins before closing so was a light crowd. Did not feel the least bit rushed by the staff there which was nice. Was not sure what to order but the server asked me a few questions and made great recommendations. Good came out fast, everything tastes fresh and I was full for approx $ 30 which doesn’t happen often at a sushi restaurant for me… Highly recommend and will definitely go back again to try some of the other items.

Flying Roll was the choice for light lunch on a Saturday afternoon. I have also passed this place many times, but did not even notice that it was there. It is hidden between many other shops in a series of buildings that all look the same on Peachtree Industrial. I went with my friend who loves sushi and sake equally, so we each ordered a sushi dish and he got a large saki. I had never tried saki, so I sampled this in one of the tiny saki cups. It was warm saki, which I was not used to, so I am not sure what it should have tasted like, but it definitely tasted like alcohol. My sushi was perfect, definitely some of the better made sushi I have had. The waitress was very friendly and continuously checked to make sure we were enjoying our meal. The décor of this place is the only thing holding it back from a perfect review! It ranges from classy to stereotypical from one wall to another. If the owners ever decide to fully renovate or revamp their image I think that they would greatly benefit from having a single theme and sticking to it. Besides this, the food was great and if you are in the area craving sushi you should definitely visit Flying Roll.

I’ve been here a few times now I’ve been impressed very time. The service is very friendly and quick and the sushi tastes very fresh. I’ve only had their rolls, but the rolls I’ve tried were all good. The prices are also about standard of what you’d expect to pay for sushi.

I just found this place the other week and it is hands down the best sushi I have had thus far and I love sushi. There prices are very reasonable and have great lunch specials as well. My favorite rolls are the flying tower and the spicy crab rolls they are a must try.

Ate at Flying Roll for the first time tonight with the hubs, and I was not disappointed! Arrived around 6:30PM on a Saturday night. Since it was fairly early, we had no trouble getting a booth right away. The greeter was very friendly and patient with us as we took our time going through the large menu. Everything sounded great, but we decided to forgo the appetizers and go straight for the rolls: Fuji Volcano, Flying Ninja, and BBQ Eel. Three rolls for two people was plenty for us. I mean, I FELT like I wanted to eat more, but I probably would have been sorry afterward. The Fuji Volcano was delicious. It’s smothered in a thick coating of crab meat, scallop and a delicious mix of mayo and mildly spicy something or other. With that sauce it was a bit heavy, however, so I recommend splitting this among a table and ordering something lighter to go with it. The BBQ Eel was simple and amazing. The eel was so delicate and fresh — none of the fishy taste I often encounter at other sushi restaurants. The Flying Ninja had shrimp tempura in it and was also deliciously fresh. It’s covered in a Panko bread crumb topping, so can also be a little heavy, so keep that in mind. I was really pleased with everything we ordered. I can’t wait to come back and try more!

Service is great. Menu is extensive. Price looks reasonable. I recently came back to fulfill my craving for spam musubi. For four pieces and about $ 4 it was quite satisfying. I like the touch of soy(?) sauce and the sesame seeds. $ 5 minimum to use credit card. It has a small humble interior but I haven’t seen much of a waiting line the couple of times I’ve visited. Try it out of you’re in the area. I would love to come back to see their other fancy rolls.

Located on the intersection of Pleasant Hill Road and Peachtree Industrial Boulevard(head down a bit on Peachtree) lies this«little» Japanese restaurant called Fyling Roll. You can see by the number of reviews and the average score that Flying Roll is a very popular destination for Japanese food in the Johns Creek/Duluth area. My first visit was during the lunch hours and I will say that it was packed for lunch. The restaurant itself is rather tiny and space is limited. There are a few booths along the wall that can seat most of the customers and a few separate tables that sort of bunch together in the corner. My advice is to go for a booth of you can. Now when it comes to the food I can only speak on behalf of what I ordered and it was pretty good I would say. I ordered a Fishkatsu lunch box, which is similar to pork and chicken katsu(battered meat/fish cutlet that is pan fried). It came with soup, 4 pcs of sushi, tempura, and a side salad. Not bad for a lunch special and believe me it will fill you up. The food like most Japanese Cuisine is not heavy and you won’t feel like you have to run a marathon afterwards to work it off which is nice. I would say for a busy lunch session, the service was very good. The waitress was on her game that day and was able to assist all of our needs. Great job there! Overall, Flying Roll deserves all the praise it’s currently getting and rightfully so it’s one of the better lunch spots in the area. I’m sure the dinner is just as good as well. Give it a shot if you’re in the area and let me know what you think about this place too. My Recommendations: –Fishkatsu Lunch Box(only lunch)

I’m completely addicted to the sushi at Flying Roll. I would eat here 5 nights a week if I could afford to and mercury poisoning wasn’t a concern. It’s the best sushi I’ve ever tasted; bar none. I would have reviewed this place sooner, but I wanted to think about how to word it. I’m sure tastes and experiences will and do vary, but you’re doing yourself a serious disservice if you like sushi and don’t try this place. Now for some details. I definitely lean toward American-style sushi so I’m not as well-versed with nigiri or sashimi, but if you like rolls, I defy you to be disappointed. The menu is huge and in addition to plenty of traditional rolls, they have a plethora of specialty rolls that are actually unique; not to mention anywhere from 4 to 8 featured rolls that aren’t on the menu. They’re just written on chalkboards around the small restaurant. It’s the true differentiation and inclusion of so many unexpected ingredients that sets the tone, but ingredients can’t just be thrown together and expected to work. The rolls are an amalgam of delicious weirdness. Example: my favorite roll is the tropical eel: BBQ eel, cucumber, spicy mayo, and mango sauce. It’s crunchy, sweet perfection. Speaking of which, if you like eel, you’re in luck because the menu is a little eel heavy. They know how to prepare it too — clean cuts, no bones, captured flavor. They take their time with the rolls. The wait is a little longer than the average sushi place and it’s been worth it every time. The prices are above average too in my estimation. This is no discount sushi, but I’ve paid more for lousy sushi. Here, I feel like it’s worth every penny and more. The ambiance is fun too. It’s definitely intimate — not more than 10 or 15 tables. The décor and design is reminiscent of Japan, but somehow this feels more authentic than the generic pan-Asian décor in most sushi places. They even have Japanese game shows on TV. Don’t ask. I have no clue what I’m watching. The staff is very nice. We get complementary soup every time and they remember us there, but don’t push us or expect us to order the same thing. In truth, I have favorite items, but I order something different every time and I’m always rewarded! We’ve taken friends there and I’ll drive way out of the way for a dinner at Flying Roll whenever I can. I want to write more because I am so taken with this food, but I need to get over there for some sushi. Just kidding. It’s the middle of the night and I don’t think they’re open… are they? I’m going to check. Go there. Eat their food.

Decided to try this place out for dinner tonight with the boyfriend. We arrived at 8:05pm, Flying Roll were super packed so we weren’t seated until 8:20pm. We weren’t greeted when we first walk in and that’s fine since I know it’s rush hour for dinner and they seem to only have two servers and one busboy. Once we were seated and got the menu, we ordered the following: –spam musubi(3.99 $) –sashimi salad(7.99 $) –salmon teriyaki(12.99 $) with normal steamed rice. Not fried rice. –Mango roll(11.99 $) The Salmon Teriyaki came with a salad and a soup and that came out first. The soup was kind of salty and the salad with the house dressing is nothing spectacular. Soon, the spam musubi came out. I suggest ordering the spam musubi to share. One order of this is four big pieces of spam musubi that after eating all of it, I couldn’t really find room to fit other stuff. SIKE! lol I of coursed stuffed my face with the mango roll which came right after the spam musubi. They did bring out the sashimi, but instead of bringing out the sashimi salad, they present us with the sashimi appetizer. We quickly inform our waitress that we didn’t order it and she was able to quickly resolve that. After that, all the dishes were present. Now… I didn’t get my foods until almost 9pm and that is when they are supposed to be closed. WE felt bad but our waitress assured us that they don’t actually closed until 10pm and that we could still enjoy our foods. Nonetheless… we were full by this time. Eating the mango roll and spam musubi were enough for me. The boyfriend waited so long for his salmon teriyaki that by the time he were able to dig in… his hunger passed. Overall…my verdict for the foods is that it’s aokay. I really liked the spam musubi and at first the mango roll. But after five pieces of the mango roll… the cream cheese inside really made me feel sick of it. There were excessively too much cream cheese. So if you don’t like cream cheese… i suggest getting something that doesn’t have it. I used to love cream cheese… but tonight… it was just too much of it. The salmon teriyaki was flavorful. but because we waited so long for it… we weren’t able to enjoy it and so we end up packing it togo. Maybe next time I’ll order pickup or stop by when it’s not peak time. I also had to pack up my sashimi salad. But overall. I would come back to try other stuff.

Solid little sushi restaurant tucked away in a quiet strip mall in Duluth. We came here for a cheat meal today for lunch before heading to the gym. We were curious what the hype was about this place and now understand. The interior is cozy, comforting, and quiet. The waitress was polite and attentive throughout our time here. Most important to the majority is the food was delicious and well made. I usually get sashimi as that is what I grew up eating but since this place is known for rolls so I ordered rolls. The quality of the rice, combination of interior and exterior roll ingredients were fresh, and the homemade soup, ginger, wasabi was a nice touch. These small details let me know the place cares about quality, hardworking, and the 5 senses(texture, taste, smell, etc) still with their food. Overall a very solid sushi restaurant that deserve the reputation they have acquired. Highly recommend.

«Not if you open a sushi bar. All you need is some raw fish and a knife.» — Firstborn(1984) What a fun experience — and well executed. I was worried when we were descending upon this small sushi shop on a Saturday evening with 15 Unilocalers in tow, but the staff handled us like pros. Normally, I would not have opted in to such an event(allergic to most seafood), but when I looked at the menu and the photos on Unilocal,I saw they had other non-seafood items that I could enjoy. Woo Hoo! When I showed up, they had already set aside tables for our group(Jang C. had called in a reservation for us) and they were well prepared. I looked over the menu and was excited by a few different appetizers, but knew I wanted to get the steak teriyaki, so I landed on just getting the tempura to start. Wow, they really provide a lot of food. So to start, I ordered the Tempura appetizer. This comes with some veggies and 3 shrimp — you can get all shrimp if you want to pay extra. Personally, I wanted the veggies as well. It came with a large onion ring, a large bias slice of zucchini and a large wedge of acorn squash — all crispy on the outside(super light tempura batter) and still with a bite on the inside. There was a small ramekin of teriyaki sauce on the side for dipping. The shrimp were like sticks — long and lanky, and totally delicious. Not at all over cooked. Next up, my steak teriyaki. A huge portion of meat, cooked perfectly(not well done) and an equal portion of veggies — carrots, broccoli, onions, zucchini — also cooked perfectly. Not mushy at all. They were topped with black and white sesame seeds and served in a very hot iron plate with a wood base. I didn’t realize how hot it was at first and burned my finger — oops. I should listen more closely. The entrée came with a small ginger salad to start(typical) that was good — iceberg lettuce and ginger dressing and fried rice(I think I paid a small up charge for fried instead of steamed). Everything was really flavorful and I enjoyed it thoroughly — I ate all of the meat, most of the veggies and maybe 1⁄3 of the rice? I was so full by the end that I could not eat another bite. Overall, it was quote the bargain for as much food as I was served. I would definitely come here again. Service never lacked for the table — my water glass was constantly being refilled and the food all came out hot(for me — mostly everyone else had sushi rolls). They know what they are doing.

Flying Roll is a sushi roll shop. They specialize in rolls. They have a lot of rolls. It’ll be difficult to try them all. They call themselves fusion. I guess they don’t want to be considered a traditional sushi place. Besides rolls, they have other Japanese stuff like udon, teriyaki meats, and so on. So if you’re not a raw-fish person, you can order the other stuff. Their portions are big. 2 rolls are good enough for a full sized man. It looks deceptive. When they come out, it doesn’t look much. But since they pack so much meat, rice, and other junk into the rolls, it becomes a filling meal. I tried their Spam Musubi. I liked it. The spam was grilled well. And I loved the special sweet sauce. That helped to balance out the flavors of the salty spam. I also tried their Amazing Mango Roll. It wasn’t really amazing, but it was pretty good. The mangos seemed fresh and the fish was fine. Their udon was decent. It comes with a ton of junk inside. It has lots of noodles, artificial crab and other stuff. It was deceptive since they put a lot of stuff inside the udon. So it looked like a small bowl, but it’s quite filling because of all the noodles. I think Flying Roll is a place where you feel you get your money’s worth. They give you a lot of food for the value. However, the food is carb-heavy. They might give you a bit more rice and noodles to make you feel fuller faster. I was stuffed full when I left, but I got hungry a few hours later. The service was nice and the food tasted decent. It’s not a bad place to go.

«If your reviews are sounding like essays, start a blog. I can’t read your life story on my phone before ordering from the menu.» [Time & Date of visit]: Friday 7ish pm [Party Size]: 10 [Location/Ambiance]: Parking — Plentiful, even with the restaurant sharing a lot with the rest of the strip. Inside — The restaurant is a bit narrow. Not leaving much room for big parties to wait inside. To the left, before the sushi bar, are various sized tables for 4 – 6. Since our reservation was large, they allowed us to line up 3 tables to accommodate us, even though we blocked two seats at the sushi bar. Ambiance is, slightly on the intimate side with how dim the lighting is, While still being casual. I saw various sizes of families with kids coming in after each other as well. Noise level is average I think. Above the booths, there are chalk boards with specials hand written. Pretty interesting. [Service]: Tending to our group was one server and a food runner. Both were good on water refills and remembering who ordered what, as the food came out staggered; depending on who ordered first. She also remembered our seating arrangement and as we paid by card for the check. As she called out our first names, while passing the guest book to the correct person. Nice. [Food Highlights]: Spam Musubi —($ 3.99) Two thick slices of spam atop a bed of quite a bit of rice, then wrapped with seaweed. I like that the spam was slightly overcooked for a bit of crisp on the outside. Not too much on the accompanied sauce either. Their version reminds me of Waikiki’s but almost there. Good comfort food eats but filling. Caterpillar roll —(9.49) Not as much eel as I was hoping for, but the avocado was fresh and perfectly ripe. Though the ratio was off as way more avocado than bbq eel, I still enjoyed this roll. Flying roll —(11.99) Taking heed of Lana D.‘s review, I was cautious to not want to be adventurous with some sashimi. And I’m glad I didn’t. Though the salmon portions were good, it didn’t taste fresh. More frozen and just thawed. I didn’t taste the buttery, tender cuts that other higher quality sushi places offer such as Sushi Mito. [Total Bill w/Tip & Tax]: Even with our large party, the server did not charge us a mandatory gratuity fee. Before tip, my total came out to $ 27 with tax. {Summary}: As for food quality goes, I think Sushi Mito would be a better choice. But for pretty good sushi and you are already in the area, I would say Flying Roll is a good choice. Food would be 3, service is up there for 4 stars.

Thank you Unilocalers! Finally a good local place to get great sushi at a decent price! Me and the wife have been coming here for the last couple of months and thoroughly enjoy the atmosphere, and more importantly, the sushi. I HIGHLY recommend the volcano roll. That sauce is amazing, and i usually pair it a spicy tuna roll. Delicious!
