Trailfitters

For some reason, every time we go to Duluth, we find ourselves needing some piece of outdoor gear we forgot at home. Trailfitters has pretty much become our go-​to place to make up for our forgetfulness.
It’s on the second floor (below street level) of the Fitger’s complex and is a really nicely appointed outdoors store. I guess I’d say it’s kind of like a locally owned and smaller REI, sans climbing wall. But if you have a need for a windbreaker, rain jacket, caribiner or coat, Trailfitters will hook you up just fine. The prices are not low — no outdoors gear is ever cheap, right? But we have found a few deals there when we catch a sale or a clearance time at the end of a season.
Staff is generally friendly but is relaxed — generally you need to seek them out if you have a question or need help. They’re not really the type of staff that approaches every customer and asks if they need help. I guess just more of a relaxed vibe, if you will.
Oh, and if you’re staying in the hotel at Fitger’s, there’s a coupon in your welcome packet that will help you save a few bucks.

Great store! Huge selection of all sorts of gear for your outdoor adventures in Duluth. Check it out the next time you are in Fitgers. You won’t believe all of the cool stuff they have in there… warm stuff too, which is very helpful in surviving and enjoying the Minnesota winters.

This is one of the best outdoor apparel and equipment stores in the Northland. In addition the service is intensely helpful and knowledgeable. Most of my backpacking gear was purchased here.
