Vain Salon

I moved to Duluth a few years ago and left a great stylist behind. It took me awhile to find a comparable stylist, then I upgraded to Kelsey at Vain, she keeps my style up to date and helps me look my best.

I love Vain salon! My hair stylist is Jessica and she is the best! She recently went on maternity leave and I had the privilege of having Kelsi, the new owner of Vain, color and cut my hair. She did an amazing job! I highly recommend Vain salon if you want the best hair care! They not only listen to what you want, but they really know what they are doing! They are up on all the new trends and are continuing their education constantly!

VERY pleased! Kelsey and Vain Salon are amazing! I used to drive 2 ½ hours to get my hair done in the cities, but thanks to Kelsey’s expertise with styles, cuts and color, I don’t have too! She is definately an advanced knowledgeable stylist and highly recommended!

I followed my stylist, Kelsey, to Vain after she recently became the owner of the salon. It took me years to find a quality stylist in Duluth and Kelsey has never failed to give me an amazing cut and color.
Kelsey is affiliated with TIGI Professional, and because of this she is always up-​to-​date on the latest coloring styles and techniques. She regularly travels to workshops to learn from the best stylists in the country. She is also incredibly astute at understanding what I want done with my hair, and always gives helpful feedback prior to cutting and coloring. I always feel confident that she is going to take care of my hair.
Vain Salon is affordable, clean, professional, and conveniently located kitty corner from pizza luce on Lake Avenue. There is a very affordable parking garage located just a half a block up on First Street.

The New owner, Kelsey, is amazing at color! They have great hair products, especially for fine hair types like myself. Atmosphere and cleanliness is top notch, so is their customer service!

This is the best salon –by far. I came to Sara (the owner) in tears with awful, boring hair. I said that she should do whatever she thought would look good. She didn’t show me until she was done, and let me tell you I have never loved my hair so much. She is so talented at what she does, and I have never received so many compliments on my cut and color. Over the 3 years that I have been going to Sara, I have NEVER walked out the door with anything less than the best. I always tell her a little bit of what im looking for and she takes it from there. She is so current with all the latest styles and best coloring techniques. I always leave with a new look ! I am devastated that I do not live in Minnesota anymore, but she is well worth the flight home !!! 5 stars all the way.

I can’t believe this is the first review for this place! Well, actually maybe I can. I had no idea they existed until my mom/​aunt/​cousin all told me it was awesome… but they’ve been around for 4 years, so I thought it must just be that I was really unobservant (and I didn’t live in the area).
I got a great cut here. I have really thick, curly hair. Even though I requested a straight style cut, she made sure that it would still look good if I wore it curly, which I didn’t ask for, but I reaaaally appreciate!
I asked her some product questions, and she recommended some products that she doesn’t even sell! So I knew I could really take her advice.
Two reasons it gets four instead of five stars: When she was done, I asked her to make my bangs just a little shorter, and she took off about ½ an inch, when I was thinking more like ¼ inch. So they were a little awkwardly short, but it’s partly my fault for not being really specific. The second reason is because the location is not super beautiful. It’s defintely nice, but it doesn’t feel like a luxury. But I suppose that is maybe why the haircuts are only $ 30!
