I walked in for a simple mens hair cut.(light taper and blend, leave the top alone) I walked out looking worse than having my shaggy hair do. I paid $ 37 for nothing, and on top of that I spent and additional $ 70 trying to get it fixed at TWO other salons! Maybe it’s not the place for mens cuts… I’ll never come back. Fighting for a refund won’t even fix my nightmares and dissatisfaction.

All the stylists here are great — I’ve had three different ones on four different trips — but my favorite is Wes. He does an AMAZING job with layering and side swept bangs. He also offers free bang trims! I like that the place doesn’t smell strongly of chemical odor like other salons, and the receptionists are always happy and greet you when you enter. Cost is moderate-pricey, depending on what you get, but I end up paying $ 50 or so(including tip) for a great haircut that lasts months. Even though its a 45 minute drive to get here from where I live now, it’s totally worth it!

As the owner of Cloud Nine I would like to respond to the review left by DM. First I would like to thank her for giving credit to my amazing staff, they are all independently employed. I too will agree the paint was a faux finish and was a little outdated, ironically we had the entire salon repainted on 8⁄16 just a few days after her post. As for the coat rack and chairs they are for functionality as we see as many as 200 clients in a day. We have a staff of 26 so when we are all working there are many people coming and going, we pride ourselves on not making people sit up front for long periods of time. To address the cleanliness of the salon, we have always kept the salon impeccably clean and have never been cited by state boards. As the owner I have made it my mission to run a top notch salon and our huge following of clients speaks for itself. Sometimes you are just not able to please everyone, and looking at the other 29 reviews DM. gave it seems many more businesses fall short as well.

Salons make me uncomfortable(IE: the kind of discomfort that compels you to down some scotch or engage in a random street fight) due to all the squishy, feel good ovary coddling that usually ensues during a haircut. But I know I’m not a majority when it comes to that amongst the lady folk so I’ll elaborate a little. Unlike most salons, they seem to go out of their way to look at a client and adjust their interactions accordingly. I, personally, appreciate this greatly since it means I don’t have to be forced to engage in all those gooey lady things(trading pants, talking about wieners… etc). I really just want to go in, get a friendly greeting, barely talk about neutral things while getting a trim and leave. This has been the only place where I’ve been able to do that without being made to feel excessively awkward(like being asked repeatedly if I have/like kids and then sitting there weirdly while some huge conversation goes on amongst seven other women and my stylist). This particular salon is just a sort of station for multiple independently licensed stylists so if you happen to develop a liking to a certain one they may give you their information to meet them elsewhere on different days or times. In addition to doing hair they also have a manicure/pedicure operation set up in a separate area. Haircut prices start at 20 – 26 dollars and increase according to the stylist’s level. The interior is nice. Slate floors, neutral colors, a decent waiting area and clean stations. There is one thing I would HIGHLY recommend, however. Bring some spare cash for a tip if you intend on paying with your card. Because all of the stylists are doing their own thing, the tip has to be configured into the final cost of the card swipe which means they are essentially forced to ask you how much you want to tip before they run the card. It’s very awkward for both parties involved… trust me. I should also note that all of my cuts were done on a walk-in basis so you don’t necessarily need to make an appointment. Bottom line: if my beautiful girlfriend doesn’t feel like cutting my hair(she kicks ass at it) or if I’m out and decide to trim on a whim, this place fits the bill quite well.

Pampering is their specialty! And, go to Wes and you will get a wonderful sylist and conversationalist! It is a little spendy, I would imagine it depends on who you see, but worth it. The place is packed, so I suggest calling a month in advance.
