I don’t usually feel compelled to write reviews about grocery stores, but after my experience here tonight, I had no choice. I usually avoid Cubs at all costs, because everytime I go there, I usually almost get hit in the parking lot(an omen? I think so). I don’t know if I got too big of a whiff of whiskey from the guy in front of me on the bus ride home or what, but Cub it was for groceries tonight. What a joke. My first observation was the deli people putting away all the salad stuff at 7-ish…a smidgen early I thought and carried on… I didn’t have any other problems until I actually had to deal with an employee at the deli counter… I wanted a certain meat that they«were out of»…nice try kid… two big things of it on display in the front counter. After I pointed those out he literally was swearing under his breath as he cut the meat. I did nothing but laugh, this is the future of our workforce! After that I went to checkout and you wouldn’t believe the attention to detail during the checkout process! The guy checking me out grasped each item, looked at it, then scanned it. My eighteen year old self could have been hula-hooping with twelve books stacked on my head and checked out faster. I’d rather do all my shopping at Kwik Trip! Avoid, avoid, avoid!

Not someplace I want to shop. The coupon program drives me nuts and I refuse to go digging thru ads to find one — Produce is lacking in consistency and freshness, there’s no one to bag as there used to be at Rainbow and, frankly, even if I have to drive to Oakdale, I choose to go elsewhere. Have you noticed how empty the parking lot is lately? Other people hate the coupons also from what I’ve heard. I’ve shopped at Rainbow for years, but I won’t continue at Cub. I was so damn mad by the time I left this weekend I decided it wasn’t worth my frustration; «have you got the coupon?» No, and I won’t need to look anymore. There’s always Aldi’s, whose prices and produce are much better anyway.

This used to be a Rainbow Foods store before Rainbow went bankrupt and moved out. Now this is converted to a Cub. Fruits and vegetables are not fresh, store is kinda screwed up, unpainted walls, etc. Try out the other Cub in Eagan on 35E and Cliff Road. It’s a little bit better kept. :)
