I hadn’t been here in a while, thought I’d check it out again; wish I hadn’t. The whole point of the grill is to pick out exactly what did you want to eat, then select salts and sauces. Well six of the ten recipe cards where gone. Nothing on the wall matched what was available. No one to ask. So my gf and I had to guess what ingredients to put on my meal. I don’t cook, never really have. I don’t want to start at a restaurant. I was told«people steal the cards so we don’t have them». Well here’s a marketing tip. Plan on it. Have a repeat coupon on the back or make them collectors with a new drink recepie or whatever. Pop was like $ 2.50 which always seems like a gip. It’ll be a while before I come back.

I love Mongolian bbq & when we discovered Ghenges’s near our hotel, I jumped at the chance to eat here. The host was very friendly, explaining it to us & pointing out the instructions on the wall in terms of what they have & how to go about filling your bowl. For $ 11.00 per person, that is a deal. I had beef tips with snow peas, carrots, string beans, mushrooms, & triple g sauce; the chef at the wok was very nice & I had mine with udon noodles; everything was very fresh & tasty. The only thing I was a bit puzzled about, was that you are only allowed one time through as other places are all you can eat. But, he did tell us to fill our bowl as much as we wanted & I was satisfied. The only other thing is that it took forever to get our drinks & the place was not that full; I do not know if the hiost/server was maybe helping out in the back, but they should maybe get another person to help. Round it off with a Tsing Tao & you will not be disappointed. So, for some excellent Mongolian bbq at low prices in a casual atmosphere, Ghengeses’s cannot be beat. Keep up the good work guys.

Today I came for lunch and was disappointed. They are out of protein choices spices and sauces! Recipe cards weren’t stocked… feels like they are ready to close the doors.

Doesn’t seem to be the cleanest place, but price is reasonable and I really like the fact that you can take home the left overs instead of them throwing them away like other places. Sign up for their Birthday Meal Program and get a free dinner!

Rather disappointed I the operation. Food is okay. The seasoning options are nice but there is not much guidance for those who are not cooks or regulars at the restaurant for how much seasoning is actually needed. The sauces are rather bland the way the cook them in at the very end. Other similar restaurants have cooked the sauces in right away and the food had better results. If I had not been to other similar restaurants I would have enjoyed this better.

My friend and I went there for lunch. We both got food poisoning. He was throwing up and I was sick for about a week. This kind of food and place is ruined for me forever

The idea is really great. I really did like that I could season my own meat. With that said maybe I didn’t season the chicken properly, but it was just really bland. Even with all the spicy and garlic sauces that I used. But I was pleased enough. Next time I will just add more soy

Dry spices are mostly terrible. The dried ginger is horrid, would be way better fresh. Not a ton of flavor in many of the sauces. Still have a nasty dirt-like aftertaste in my mouth an hour later. There was a bad fish smell near the meats. Wife hated it also. Khan’s is way better, even though I would give them only 3 stars.

The stopped doing the unlimited bowls. That was the best part, you could have a little of everything. Now, they are no different than other restaurants. No reason to rush back!

Went there a good HOUR before closing and the staff were super rude. Closing up. Turning the lights off while we were eating. Even telling us to «lift our feet up» so they could sweep under hour table. There was 2 other couples they were doing the same to. And we had been nice enough to ask when we came in «are we too late?» So rude.

Like Khan’s but, ya know, terrible. I would not go back. Best thing they had going for them was their variety of seasonings. Other than that, I’d save my money for something more high quality.

Tasty food, but nothing original. I will give them credit for having a wider variety of meats than some comparable chains and also nothing is in the process of de-thawing when you choose it, thank goodness! I would advise that you don’t stray too far from the normal path though, because they cook all the food the same time and temperature. The sausage and beef for example are great, the calamari and tofu on the other hand are not so expertly prepared. Lesson learned. I like spicy food which is probably the reason why I keep agreeing to return here with my boyfriend. My favorite spicy salt and sauce combo is the dragon kind. 3 scoops of dragon salt, a full ramekin for dragon sauce and a handful of jalapeños should get your tear ducts watering. I love their dragon flavor because it is sweet and spicy which leaves you wanting to take another bite, even though it stings a little bit. The service here is really weird. I have been enough times to know this is not a one off, it’s the norm. You will have a waiter who will bring you water while you are picking your ingredients and return 20 minutes after you are done eating with the check. They will be expecting a tip, although I’m confused what for. It should probably be structured more like Noodles where there are cashiers and no wait staff. Overall it’s good food for when you are out running errands and want a filling and tasty meal, but not really the place for a dining experience.

I’m not a fan of the pricing structure at this restaurant – it seems if you make a combination that you’re not happy with you either have to choke it down or pay another $ 10 for a bowl. If there was a «redo» option, it was not explained to us. The sauces were flavorless and the«spicy» sauces had no heat at all. The steamed rice was clumpy. To their credit, the veggies and meat seemed to be fresher(as opposed to HuHot’s frozen selection). Service was friendly and refills were expedient. I won’t say that I’ll never come back, but its definitely not at the top of my list either.

I love this place for a very fast but a sit down type restaurant. It is a Asian focused but basically depending upon what ingredients you choose, you can take it in any direction of any type of Asian cuisine you want. This is not a gourmet restaurant however the food hits the spot when you hungry & This was the first time my buddy, Catlin came with and at first he was wondering if it would even fill him up because of the small size of the ingredients bowl. However, after the complete dish was served up to him he was shocked at the size of the bowl and in the process he even needed a carry out container for it. This time we did just the bowls which we had created from the awesome selection of ingredients, seasonings, & sauces. This place does offer a full bar for any type of adult beverage you might want or need. This also are one of a few places that offer fish bowl size drinks as well. The appetizers and desserts options are pretty good from the way it looks. I would totally recommend this place to any friends are family. you don’t want to spend a lot of money.

Ghenghis Grill though is your typical Mongolian Stir Fry restaurant where you pick your own ingredients in a bowl, hand it to the cooks, inform them whether you like nooodles or rice and in couple minutes your food is ready. The servers are a pleasant bunch and I have never had any complaints. Unlike its name, Ghengis Grill is not as grandiose as you would like it to be especially because during lunch it hosts lot of people from nearby Corporations. So plan ahead parking space is plenty and Bathrooms are pretty clean(at least the men’s section was, assuming women’s section is as well)

A few years back, I used to work with this guy. We’d regularly go out to lunch together, at least 2 or 3 times a week. We’d each take turns choosing our lunch destination. For some reason, my lunch partner would inexplicably always choose the same terrible Chinese buffet. You know the type of place I’m talking about, row upon row of steam table, bins filled with deep fried pieces of «meat» slathered in some sort of overly sweet sauce, and of course the Mongolian Grill. My recollection of the Mongolian Grill at this place includes such fond memories as frozen slabs of mystery«meat», shrimp and squid at room temperature and of course, my favorite, the guy cooking the food on the grill using an old cut off pool cue to move the food as it cooked. These memories, and the fact that I almost always found myself in the bathroom 30 minutes after eating at this place did make me eager to try other Mongolian Grills. So, now, a few years later, I find myself working in Eagan. I’m usually out somewhere to lunch at least a couple of times a week with coworkers. After a while, we’d sort of exhausted our usual spots. One day, someone in our group brought up the Genghis Grill. None of us had been or knew anything about it but based on the name alone, I had mental images of mystery meat and guys using old pool cues to stir the food. I voiced my concern but the rest of the group wanted to give it a try, so I conceded and tried to prepare myself mentally for the inevitable bathroom trip 30 minutes after the meal. I have to say, it was apparent immediately that Genghis Grill was going to be a different experience than I was expecting. First, the meat. You could look at this stuff and tell it was an actual piece of chicken, beef or pork, rather than a piece of something shaved off a frozen hunk of «meat». Along with the meat, there are of course a number of vegetable choices to add to your stir fry, as well as dry spices. At the end of the line they have a bunch of sauces you can add as well. You then take you creation up to the cooks where the fry it up and return it with your choice of rice or noodles. For me, the most remarkable thing about Genghis Grill is that the food actually tastes like what I put in it. You can taste the meat, the veggies and the sauce(s). My experience at other«Mongolian» grills has been that everything comes out uniformly bland and needs a liberal amount of soy sauce just to have any taste at all. Yeah, Genghis Grill is a chain, and yeah it’s in a suburban strip mall, so, [insert snarky comment about chains and strip malls here]. Chain or not, strip mall or not, I don’t really care, the food is good and fresh so I’ll be back.

Easy going place, it’s a chain located in a strip mall. Service is horrible. What do you expect? You walk up, and there’s tons of meat that’s been sitting out for hours. You grab it yourself, which means 7 year old kids have been grabbing whitefish and raw chicken with the same tongs. Dude, that’s gross. Average quality vegetables. The spices aren’t spicy, unless you’re a wimp. The sauces and bland. They cook it for you, which is nice of them. Grab the sriracha sauce as you head back to your table. It will cover the lack of flavor.

What is not to love about a Mongolian Grill!?! The food is good, they have a great variety of protein, veggies, sauces, and starch. The grill guys were nice and fast, the service was good. All in all, it is a great place. I knocked down a star because the bowl seemed smaller than in other Mongolian grills I have been to before, and you can only go through once unless you pay an extra $ 4. Overall; great food and I will definitely be back!

Fantastic choice if you need to have a specific diet need met. Last trip, the raw meat section smelled off… just off… you know, that old meat smell. Went with a vegetarian meal instead and it was fine. The interior is VERY shop worn. With such a high turnover rate, you’d think they could pop a few thousand into the seats. The black duct tape covering rips in the seats is not appetizing.
