I hate to be a downer about this chain. Lord knows I’ve purchased a couch and several other furniture items from here in the past. But in the last few years I have not, for the life of me, been able to find anything that’s worth purchasing here. There is so much damn merchandise in this store. Like the space contains the conent of 2 stores in one. Ooof. Their displays are farkakte too. It’s so crowded and so hard to navigate. Causes sensory overload and that ain’t cool. At holiday times, it’s like the occasion puked glitter and appropriately festooned owls everywhere. Too much. For the most part, everything is WAY overpriced and not super great quality for what you pay. I did see a throw blanket I liked in there recently. Not only was it $ 60 but it was also dry clean only. I have dogs and cats. Dry clean only is not an option in my household. So the bottom line is, everything is expensive, high-maintenance, and fragile. Not compatible with my household but it’s nice to look there. I also don’t like that every employee asks you if you’re finding everything okay. I can barely concentrate there as it is and now I’m being asked questions too? Ahhhhh!

I could start with the obvious and say that the stuff at Pier 1 is fun, funky, and is pretty much like catnip to me, but I won’t. Oh, wait. I just did. The staff here is excellent. I wasn’t really expecting to find employees here to act in a capacity that was much more beyond being cashiers(sorry! my bad!), but every time I’ve visited, the staff has been more than happy to help me pick out pillows, wall art, and even a centerpiece for my dining room table. They came up with some pretty cool ideas to add color to my house, and I LOVE what I’ve brought home from here. Not to mention that the last time I was here, they remembered me, asked about the pillows I bought last time, and asked how things were going with the house that I just moved into two weeks ago. I’d come back here even if the customer service wasn’t as great as it is, which honestly, is just a nice bonus.
