I love Art of Salad! This place has plenty of choices, in my opinion, about what one can get in a salad. The freshness of the ingredients, the courteousness of staff, the taste of the food, and the reasonable price, etc. all lead me to give Art of Salad 5 stars. The place also offers discounts for certain people– one of which is people with Rutgers IDs.

Have eaten here a number of times and every time is great. I prefer to salad and ½ sandwich. I usually go there in uniform as I am an Army recruiter and the staff always makes us feel welcome!

This is the perfect place for a healthy meal and/or drink! They have a variety of pre-chosen salads and every one I’ve tried has been excellent. Try the Tex Mex salad, it’s lighter than most I’ve tried yet still filling. You may also create your own salad. A small is rather large and the large is easily 2 sittings worth! The PERFECT lunch spot for anyone who works nearby. The ingredients are always fresh, staff is always friendly, you MUST try this place!!! 5 stars easily & did I mention it’s reasonably priced?!

For some reason their salads just taste delicious. The portion is big enough for two meals. The place is nice and clean.

It took me over a year to try this place and I’m glad I finally did. It’s nice to have a healthy option on rt. 18 where the majority of places are fast food. I ordered a small chopped salad and was impressed by the freshness and variety of ingredients. The inside is adorable and also has baked goods and knick knacks available for sale. I definitely plan on going back!

I was surprised to find this place on Unilocal.I didn’t think a place like this existed in South River/East Brunswick area. This place is «like» a Saladworks but I use that word loosely. It is better than Saladworks. This place has a nice variety of pre-chosen salad choices, or you can create your own. Their ingredients look and taste fresh. I’ve been twice. The first time I tried to Thai salad which was really good! So good that I came back 3 days later and tried the Mexican Caesar(I got grilled chicken instead of steak though). The Mexican Caesar was really good as well. Both the Thai and Mexican Caesar have cilantro in them… can you tell I love cilantro by choosing the 2 salads on the menu with cilantro? Both times I asked for a little bit of kale in the salad and they accommodated me easily. Next time I might try the create your own but there are so many ingredient choices I may have a hard time. I can only rate based on the salads and atmosphere but they do have sandwiches and juices as well. I’m just happy a place like this exists. I wish there were more tasty healthy eateries around. Try it out!

4.5 stars! This is a wonderful place for healthy eats and drinks. I always order a sandwich and it’s nice that you can leave the meat out. I usually get the«ALT»(avocado, lettuce, tomato) sandwich on super soft multigrain bread with a side of sweet potato chips. The chipotle mayo makes it super tasty. I sometimes wash it down with a green juice. They offer a half and half option where you can get a half sandwich or half salad or half soup. The menu is easy to read and their staff are very helpful for the indecisive like me. Inside of this establishment is cozy, colorful, and welcoming. There’s free wifi if you’re in a working mood. I’m not the biggest fan of their to go containers. It would be nice if they offered real plates/cutlery for dine in customers or improved their recycling station inside their shop. The recycling slot is wayyyyy too small for the plastic containers. I cringe a little inside when I have to put in the«Garbage» section. I know, a bit silly, but their food is great and green, their disposing tactics should be green too! If you check in on Unilocal or are a Rutgers student, they offer a 10% discount!

This place is so awesome. Right when I walked in it smelled like the freshest of food. Everything is high quality and the portions are more then readable. You are gunna spend 12 – 16 on lunch anyway you should do it here and get healthy fresh food. Management and staff are also kind.

Awesome place. I usually mix and match on salad n half sandwich. So far have tried the chicken pesto panini and turkey avocado blt n they are both always really good. The salad is always fresh and they have a nice selection of toppings n dressings. Also Buffalo Soldier playing as I walk in is always a plus!

I completely agree with«Sticklerfor S.» review. Except I wasn’t impressed by the dressings. Was really hoping they’d have green goddess– I mean come on, it’s a salad place! Came here based on reviews, very disappointed. Surprised there weren’t more nut options like almonds or walnuts. No egg. Tofu had a good aftertaste(couldn’t taste it in the moment) — but was way too soft– it felt like I was eating slime. Environment was great until I had to listen to them chopping the hell out of every salad to come. Employee couldn’t answer anything I asked(like can I sample the tofu, and is the pasta whole wheat) and had to ask a manager which would be fine if it was his first day, but you could tell that it wasn’t. Ended up throwing out the salad after eating about ¼ of it. Left with a strawberry Nutella smoothie. 1. More like a juice consistency. 2. DISGUSTING! And I love snacking on Nutella dipped strawberries– this tasted like peanut butter which I despise. Maybe they made it wrong. Not a place I’d return to, especially with Saladworks or Panera not too far away with PLENTY of things I love.

Vegans and salad may be cliché but this was delicious, hearty, filling, and affordable. I got a large salad because I was really hungry and I love salad. Everything is laid out in front of you, in the order that you choose: 1. Bowl or wrap 2. Baby spinach, spring mix, or lettuce 3. Protein — the marinated tofu is delicious and flavorful 4. Choose 4 veggie toppings(tomato, cucumber, olives, mushrooms, bell peppers, olives, chick peas, etc.) 5. Choose a starch(croutons, sunflower seeds, quinoa, etc.) There are lots of dressing choices, and I love that they mark the vegan dressings. They also list which dressings are low-fat. You can also choose a cheese and a bread, but I didn’t get either. If you want avocado, it costs extra. I got the cilantro lime dressing and it was delicious! By automatically including a starch and a protein, it guarantees that your salad will be hearty and filling. Their homemade kale chips and sweet potato chips are a steal at $ 1.50 each for a large cup, but since the lid is not air-tight(there is an X cut in the lid for a straw), your chips will absorb moisture and change from crispy to chewy in a couple hours. It doesn’t matter if you eat them right away, but if you’re getting chips to go for later, you’ll want to transfer them to an air-tight container, or crisp them up in the oven when you get home. I put my chewy kale chips into a 200 °F oven for 5 minutes, then turned off the oven and let them sit in the oven for 30 minutes, and they came out nice and crisp. Another nice feature: free wifi and lots of outlets! Charge your phone or laptop! My main criticism is the use of plastic. Salads are served in a plastic takeout container, with plastic forks, even if you eat in. I wish they were more eco-friendly. Although this isn’t a vegan restaurant, this is a great place for vegans! The décor was nice and clean, and everyone was really friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back(and bring my own reusable bowl & fork)!

More hype than anything honestly. I went here based on the reviews and I was greatly let down. All flash no substance. Your choices are very limited, and whatever is there, is there. Whoever thought to chop up spring mix didn’t count for it wilting upon impact. Gotta admit though that the dressing ALoNE is worth returning.

Hands down favorite place to eat. Best selection always ALWAYS fresh and the staff is awesome. They have the best drinks including my favorite San Pellegrino pomegranate and orange. Be sure to try their sweet potato chips they are awesome. Their app makes ordering lunch way easier you just walk and pick up and leave. LOVETHISPLACE!

PHENOMENAL!!! I swear, I have never ever been a fan of salads because well, they just never filled me up. This place is just amazing. The small is big enough for 2 meals! I love all the toppings and love the fact that the staff are so personable with their guests. I’ve also had it delivered to my office and still no complaints! Pick a topping, any topping and they will put it in! Fresh avocado… YUP. Cut and diced right in front of you. Another huge draw– the price! They don’t charge you an arm and a leg for a salad like other places that give you just stuff you can pick from your yard :) Now I know where i’m going to lunch tomorrow :) YAYYYYYYYYYY!

Art of salad where have you been my entire life? I chose a large salad, which let me clarify is HUGE! Enough for a large meal and then a snack and at under $ 10 a bargain. My second time around I ordered a small create your own at about $ 6.50 left me so satisfied until dinner time. Also, the create your own includes meat plus 4 veggies. Their balsamic is creamy and light. Art of salad makes eating healthy easy and economical. They also make smoothies which I have yet to try. The entire store including the restroom is spotless. They also have a small retail area in the very front. The employees are all awesome. They have a couple taking orders and creating the salads and one at the register. They each go above and beyond to ensure you understand the process and answer your questions thoroughly and ALWAYSWITH A SMILE. My only complaint is that I dont have one near me. I visit this location while traveling for work.

Very nice, clean place. All different types of salad choices and there are even wraps! Various toppings and dressings to choose from. Also they even do smoothies or juices. My cheddar broccoli soup was delicious but I didn’t care for the dressing I chose for my cali salmon salad. The dressing was(avocado/wasabi)

If you come here and love beets, get the Feel the Beet signature salad. The portion size is so filling and ingredients are: candied walnuts, craisins, goat cheese, beets, and spring mix… added raspberry vinaigrette dressing is my favorite. The salad itself is listed as vegetarian, but I usually add chicken or steak to it. I haven’t tried the fresh juices. But I’d probably get the one with broccoli, kale, various greens, and apple. The price point is decent compared to what you would pay in the City. Otherwise, the setting is really cute but a bit chaotic feel with the table arrangements. Servers are really nice too!
