Staff was nice and accommodating since we asked for a table with an umbrella for shade and got one. Food was surprisingly good but served on disposable plates and utensils were of fine plastic. No complaints there but only 4 stars bc we did wait about a good 45min for the food to come out. I will give this spot a second chance tho. Cheers

The best seafood out there! Family owned restaurant that you do NOT want to miss out trying(but beware, it will be an every week thing once you see how delicious it is). There are amazing food and drink specials, by far the best seafood on Long Island, and has a wonderful atmosphere. Enjoy it!!! Wish I could give more than 5 stars because 5 doesn’t do Bayside justice :)

If you haven’t been here yet, you’re missing out on the most beautiful atmosphere, wonderful food and the service is right on top of things!!! We love going for dinner, sitting outside close to the water and watching the sunset. When the live music is there, it’s so much fun! Thumbs up for a nice place to eat, drink and relax at!

This place is a disaster. Besides the view on a nice day forget about it. Was there to hear a band one night and the wine served in a plastic cup was un drinkable. I get its a seasonable place but they have to kick it up s notch at least

AWESOME summer spot! As well as great sunset view any time of year. Bayside is a local gem that allows neighbors to casually mingle while enjoying the Bay view with live band as well as great food. Music is very good and diversified. BUT the highlight is the summer 4pm — 6pm all you can eat clams, oysters, and peel your own shrimp. Bayside keeps the food coming without hesitation. An inside bar as well as many outside tables and a tented table area pretty much provides any seating type you prefer. They also have a corn hole gaming area. Staff is friendly and service is very good. Look forward to seeing you there!

Found this place upon our IHG rewards dining program, the atmosphere was great and the live music was an awesome touch. The food was decent as well. Unfortunately, due to our waitress we’re probably not coming back. Among our waitress passing us several times without acknowledgment before taking our orders, we first asked for water which she forgot about to the point where I got up and asked the bus boy for some. During our entire visit it was impossible to flag her down for more drinks, water, service in general. Staff seems under man power, especially on a busy night. Lastly, to put the cherry on top, seeing the waitress entertain friends at the table adjacent to ours and actually sitting down with them to have a DRINK was appalling. I’ve never experienced that nor will I ever because we’re not going back.

Service was terrible and my rice pilaf and mahi mahi tacos tasted like cigarette ashes… my wife had lobster rolls which also did as did all the fries

I am giving 3 stars out of nostalgia for the Bayside I typically know and love and hope returns. Our last few visits were sorely lacking in food and service. However, this review is about their Monday Taco Night. When we arrived, many of the outdoor tables were occupied, not all. We were sat, and told they were a bit backed up and we should get our own drinks from the bar. We should have known then. We did so, ordering their Monday night $ 4 margarita special. We sat. And we sat. And sat. Tables were emptying out now. The wait staff seemed to be fairly free now. One carrying on a nice lengthy conversation with a bus girl. We finally flagged a waiter down, and asked what was happening. He said the kitchen was backed up. We asked nicely what that had to do with service for drinks? Or ANY attention at all. He said they were short on wait staff too. We again said he seemed able to take our order now, and that the place had emptied enough that we didn’t understand why we were still just sitting there with not a sole having stopped by after 45 minutes(no exaggeration). He nicely took our drink order. We waited 15 more minutes for that for some reason. He then finally took our food order. In the hour PLUS we waited for the two tacos each we ordered, it became apparent that nearly everyone around us who ordered AFTER we did received their food BEFORE us. Then it seemed apparent that they were serving those who ordered off the regular menu first and pushing all of us who ordered tacos on the back burner. Well ok… tacos were $ 2 each. Their regular menu, more $$$. Satisfying higher paying customers first? We literally waited over an hour… with little apology. Bayside, if you can’t handle your regular menu along with your weeknight specials, then STICKTOYOURREGULARMENU! We frequent your place. This was a serious turn off. Send over an appetizer. BuY us a drink. Hey… BETTERYET, apologize and appreciate our patience for the total lack of attention and serious wait! VERY disappointed.

We discovered Bayside last summer and became regulars. Average food, Great staff, great water views, and good live music. I’ve been back 3 times this summer, and it’s been disappointing every time. Food has been below average, even burgers and blackened fish sandwiches. Went last night for Margarita Mondays for $ 5 margaritas and $ 2 tacos… granted, nearly every table was full, and only 2 servers, but we had to get our own drinks from the bar inside, and waited for someone to take our order and then 45 minutes for our tacos… which were not even Taco Bell-level. Our poor waiter apologized for kitchen and bar issues beyond his control, and we tipped him 20+% anyways. Where’s the disconnect this summer?

After a long work day, Bayside was a real treat. The location is a south shore hidden gem, sailboats and wetlands abound. A tent is offered to escape the elements, uncompromising the water front view. The food was superb, full of flavor and fresh zest. Land Shark on Tap. Very quiet & peaceful. A great experience. Next we will come for breakfast.

I read the reviews of some other folks so I was a bit nervous about coming. But, I wanted a view of ocean, and in my experience, when you order food you should get anything that’s marked«signature dish.» So, I got the two lobster rolls with the fries. Amazing. Nice tarragon flavor. Very refreshing. This is exactly what you expect a place like this to serve. My table mate enjoyed an Oyster po boy fried to perfection. The service was good — don’t mistake a loud Long Islander as providing bad service. They are loud. Get use to it. All in all, I say it’s worth the trip down a winding country back road.

We found this place on Unilocal. It was close and we wanted a nice seat on the water. It was definitely that, sadly that was the highlight of the experience. Wait staff was overwhelmed. Badly. We weren’t in a rush but it was good that we weren’t because they only know one speed. Calamari was ok. First time saying this but it lacked breading and had thai chili lime sauce over top instead of having a traditional dipping sauce. On to our lunch order received about an hour after placing it. But we didn’t mind, good guitarist and beautiful weather passed the time quickly. I just had a B.L.T. but she was in the mood for seafood… which was a shrimp salad sandwich which tasted spoiled. The after taste was unbearable after trying to eat it. Both of us tried bites but it was sent back and removed from the bill. Oh also, the drinks are $ 10 on average… they’re oook. Nothing to write home about.

We LOVE this place, so please do not tell too many people how special Bayside is! My wife and I «discovered» it this summer, and we went back 3x in one weekend… and have visited at least once every weekend since. Very good food, well-prepared, and a great wait-staff, especially Christina! The best outdoor views of the Great South Bay, excellent live bands and musicians, and a friendly place with a cool outdoor bar. and their lobster rolls are among the best I’ve had between Bay Shore and Montauk, which is a big compliment! Our only request for next summer is to get more table umbrellas!!! Have a great winter and we look forward to returning!

Great view, not much else! Went this past Sunday. Took a long time for waiter to take our order. Longer for food. I had seafood platter. Coconut shrimp was partially cooked/raw. Food looked like it was thrown on plate. Wife’s crab cake was tasteless. Won’t be going back anytime soon.

The location is great but the food is just average Long Island seafood. If you go here it’s probably for the view over the bay, which cannot be faulted, and not for the excellent seafood. Average beer selection, decent enough service, prices OK, generally not spectacular but nothing to complain about.

I love bringing my kids here for breakfast on Sunday mornings. The coffee comes quick and in a nice big to go cup so I can take it with me when my kids play on the swings after breakfast. They always allow us to modify their menu for my picky husbands order. I did have to send one thing back once, but the waitress was apologetic, accepted blame and quickly brought out the correction. I found the prices fair for a seasonal business. I did ask them once why the paper plates and they said that unfortunately do to their proximity to the water they were unable to install the equipment mandated by the board of health for dishes. I really feel its a great local spot and I would strongly suggest giving it a try.

First thing is first, LOBSTERNIGHT!!! Do it. It’s delicious. The rest of the food is alright, I was not blown away, but when you go there you’re there for the atmosphere and the service. The staff is always super friendly and the live music on the water is awesome. They have both an outdoor and an indoor bar — but the only time I venture inside is to use the ladies room. The menu could use a little adjusting but if you’re just going somewhere for a few drinks and the outdoor experience, this is it!

When it comes to July 4th weekend, I’m all about lobster rolls versus the typical BBQ. I came out to Long Island visiting a few friends and we were all kind of craving for lobster rolls. So we Unilocaled and found Bayside Grill that was closest to where we were. The only problem is we had a dog with us so we called in advance and asked if they have outdoor seating that would allow pets to come along. Whoever was on the phone said yes. When we arrived, we saw a sign by the entrance that lead to a gated area that said no dogs allowed. We went ahead to the restaurant and when the owner saw us with the dog, he kindly said we weren’t allowed to have dogs with us by the deck but he let us pass anyway as long as the dog didn’t bother other customers.(Trust me, the dog was a lot calmer than the other humans around us.) Despite the miscommunication about whether pets were allowed or not, the owner was being very nice about it and it’s the only reason I would give them an extra star. On the other hand, the lobster rolls were just OK. For $ 19, you get two lobster rolls along with a side of fries and cole slaw, which is quite an amazing deal compare to what you would normally get in the city. But there was definitely more bread than lobster and I prefer that they toasted and buttered the bread instead of just serving it plain.

Very enjoyable and has the right stuff to really be great. First and foremost, this appears to be the only waterside/waterview restaurant within a 30 mile radius that is actually serving breakfast(no, not«brunch» starting at 11AM, but breakfast at 9AM) which is huge. On top of that, the meal is affordable. Very affordable. The view is simply spectacular, better(and quieter, more relaxing) than Nicky’s in Bay Shore who no longer serve breakfast. What’s not to like? Well the service was a bit slow and slightly lacking. Not terribly slow and not incompetent, but just a bit slow and they missed a couple things(Jess asked for fruit cup not home fries, got home fries no fruit cup… asked for ketchup, didn’t come, borrowed from friendly couple next to us… slightly long waits for coffee refills). The food is pretty good, the breakfast burrito was fantastic and the coffee was drinkable(not great) but the home fries were waaaaaaaaaaaaay oversalted, so much that I need twelve extra vowels to get that point across. There’s a solvable solution, I will simply ask for them to not be seasoned upon my return and will add my own salt and pepper. So I’ll probably spend at least 2 weekend mornings here every month during the summer because I’ll never need to rush the service and the only issue I have with the food is easy to overcome on my own. If they get their act together a bit more with some improved service, I see no reason not to call this place a gem. I’ll have to come back for some fried seafood and an alcoholic beverage or four.

I am a fan of this place. Dining outside, reasonable prices for good food and drinks. Have been there a few times and each time I go, I remember why I like this place. The food is solid. The view is great and the people are friendly. Great place to go to in a town that has little in the name of restaurants.
