I want to love Maxwells. I want it to be my local spot. But every time I go, I find I don’t really enjoy my food. My husband really likes the buffalo chicken empanadas. I Had the tuna burger a few trips ago and found it to be stringy. Tried the shrimp po-boy and just wasn’t impressed. I think all of their burgers and sandwiches should come with fries, was surprised that most don’t(ex. po boy came with a little dish of coleslaw which they considered a side??). My husband liked the fish and chips. The warm apple crisp was delicious and clearly homemade. It was excellent. I love that they have the outdoor patio and good specials during the week but we are going to stick with apps and drinks when we come here. I would skip it for dinner.

My favorite is the hanger steak sandwich with a Blue Moon… mmmm… but there’s loads of other good food on offer — chicken tacos, Texas grilled cheese, Thai chili wings, etc etc — all really good. Large bar with plenty of seating but get in on the early side if you want a spot — this is a very popular spot! Great for meeting up with friends…

Nice bar/pub in Islip has a large bar and a small restaurant off to the side. The fare is basic pub grub. The wings are very good here, some of the best on Long Island. Burgers are very good as well as was the crab cake sandwich. Service is always friendly and prices are average. Note that each night of the week has different drink specials. Thursday night is martini night! It’s a nice place to meet up with some friends for drinks and wings.

I’m glad I gave this place a try after assuming it was just a bar. They have tables! We’ve been coming here for lunch which is ideal because it’s not as loud as dinner time. We came here on a Friday night once and we couldn’t even hear ourselves think. Food is always excellent. My go to has been the Rustica Burger. Roasted red pepper, mozzarella, and pesto aoli. So good. Burger is always cooked perfect. I also tried the Crispy Chicken wrap which was also pretty good. They serve waffle fries as a side, or you can upgrade to sweet potato fries. I think they have a potato salad too. Service is good. 1 burger, a wrap, and 2 waters, $ 26. Prices are pretty decent, especially for the burgers.

This place is pretty yummy, it saved my boyfriend and i who were in babylon and didnt make reservations somewhere for dinner. we were turned down with snooty rude treatment at verace and tremme(def wont bother with those idiots in the future). Anyway! our waitress was such a sweety and the food was a lot better than your average bar. then we walked down to the actual bar where the bartender was AWEsOME and devised me an excellent drink. i really had an excellent valentines there because between the awesome friendly service and their good low key vibe i couldnt have been happier. two thumbs up!!!

One of my favorite bars by far. I’ve been coming here since I’ve been old enough to drink and with the new expansion it’s less like a crammed aquarium and more like a fun place to hang with friends, yet classy enough to have a drink with mom.

Second time here the device and Atmosphere are great the food and menu is above the regular bar grub. The food quality is excellent… Esp in the burger had a Kobe beef option last night. Oh yum. The Mac and Cheese I found a bit dry to my taste, but still good .I will be returning

A very meh place. Not impressed with the wine or cocktails selection. Got the pretzel bites to start and they were ok. Got the crab cake burger with sweet potato fries. Bit into something odd in the burger and it just tasted like a frozen crab cake. The sweet potato fries were really good. My friend got the fish and chips– fish was very overcooked and overly-breaded. The chips were very undercooked and was basically only cooked on one side. Probably a nice place to get a beer and watch the game– not a nice place for a sit down dinner. It’s typical bar food.

I went for a holiday lunch today. The place was so packed that the bartender was waiting tables. She did an impressive job. I had the Kobe burger special. It had A-1 sauce, swiss cheese and bacon. Pickles, tomato and red onion too. It was very good but I did not notice a real difference from regular beef. It came with Yukon gold potatoes My friend had the fish and chip which she loves and it was a large portion. Service is always good and so is the food

Just checked this spot out the day after thanksgiving and had a pretty nice time. I really wish the barback Kevin was able to serve drinks. They should make him a bartender bc he was super friendly and hella cute. I’d come back another to weekend to party

This is one of my favorite bars ! The atmosphere is always cool and chill, the bartenders are really good people and they always have good music ! I like the back patio they have there with the fire pit since now it’s getting chilly outside

I am very surprised Maxwells only has 3 stars. Their food is great their drinks are strong, the atmosphere is comfortable. Check it out just once. I recommend the Thai Calamari. The Long Island Ice Tea’s hit the spot(If you like strong drinks).

After a nice walk on Main Street one beautiful Saturday night, my girl and I decided to chance Maxwell’s for dinner. Observing the façade, I noticed a wonderful antiquity to the dark-brown wood that was used for the doors and window frames that, for some reason, reminded me of an old train station; and to the left of the front door was an opened section revealing some bar tables and bar stools that were each occupied by seemingly happy patrons, enjoying their meals and drinks while breathing in a cool, late-night August breeze. Inside Maxwell’s was even better. I was not expecting such a nice sight. Very homey, if you will. There were hardwood floors, perfectly-placed tables, along with their accompanying chairs, and a sleek-looking bar area. The lighting was dimmed, giving off a very romantic feel. Maxwell’s is also a lot bigger inside than one would expect from just observing the outside. My girl and I were seated by a very friendly host, where we were then approached by an even friendlier server who helped us throughout our first Maxwell’s dining experience. The food is downright amazing – as if heart and soul went into the cooking. I ordered and(quickly) devoured a Crispy Chicken Ranch Wrap, with a side order of waffle fries that weren’t under– or over– cooked; and being not a fan of raw tomato, I politely asked to have it removed(while ordering, of course). The unsweetened iced tea was exceptional, as well, tasting as if it were brewed and steeped for the perfect amount of time – but I was also slowly getting trashed off the lemonade Martini(whose name I’ve forgotten – I’m sorry) that was a bit more strong than it was sweet. Overall, Maxwell’s is a wonderful dining experience with great food, spirits, and people. The booth at which I sat with my girl was super comfy – and cozy, if I may – and the prices are well worth every penny – but nothing there is super pricey. I highly recommend Maxwell’s, even though I only have one visit notched into my belt. You will not be disappointed. If so, my bad. Thank you for reading. I hope my review UnilocalS you decide on where next to eat and drink.

Nice setting for lunch, service was very very slow but helpful in deciding. The first item I tried to order from the menu was told they didn’t have which was a bummer. The food was pretty good and made up for complete lack of service. Our chips were stale that came with the artichoke dip. Drinks should be made self-serve. I would call in for a to go order or stop in to have a beer. But I would probably not go back to eat.

Just had my first dining experience at Maxwells and I have to say that I am really impressed. I’ve heard great things about this place and iam glad I had the experience of tying it. Let me just say the service here was impeccable: many check backs on how good our food was and offerings of refills on our drinks. 5 stars on service. The food too was also very good: Shrimp Po’boy, fish n’chips, and a surprisingly good parpadelle bolognese. All reasonably priced too. Atmosphere is pretty sweet. Cozy nooks all over. Drinks here are amazingly strong and at a considerable lower price than most other establishments around. I had a generous poor of a Grey Goose Martini(like 5oz.) for 9 bucks! You just can’t beat that! I wish that Maxwells were closer to my home, I would no doubt be a regular here. If you’re in the area I highly recommend checking out Maxwells. *Bonus is that their kitchen stays open late(11pm week nights — later on weekends), for all you vampire hunters out there!

Decided to check out Maxwell’s this past Saturday night… our party of 4 was seated immediately & found service to be excellent — our drink orders were very quickly taken and filled, and we were never kept waiting long for anything… not sure why the complaints about the beer list, I found several local options not from the typical macro brews as some other reviews claimed, not a huge list but certainly not restricted to the cliched brands either… food was quite good, had the tequila lime shrimp which for the health conscious is an outstanding choice, nice portion of grilled shrimp accompanied by asparagus, fire roasted tomatoes & some truly delicious quinoa — others in our dining party enjoyed their meals as well to sum it up: good food, decent beer list, reasonable prices, friendly service — return is imminent

Well the food for one, these people can make food. The Stuffed Clams were absolutely delicious! As well as their chicken sandwich and waffle fries. Pricey? A bit. It wasn’t over the top though. Their drinks are also amazing. I had the Pink Lemonade and White Sangria — both highly recommended for you fruity drinkers. Our service was on point, as well! After dinner the lighting does get dimmer, of course for the nightlife. So if you’re still seated you’ll be hurting your eyes to see the person in front of you. Yes, for sure I’d go back again!
