4.5 stars — Thoroughly enjoyed the crab cake sliders and the clam chowder. Good service made the experience complete and I would definitely eat here again!

We went for Pink & Green weekend. Had the drinks! Very sweet and refreshing. Fish & Chips was pretty good. Burger also well cooked. Deidre was excellent server! We’ll definitely come back.

It was ok. Underwhelming. Wouldn’t go back unless I didn’t have another option. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t worth it. My dinner companion did seem to like her ribs though and said they fell off the bone.

The newes is a pub and a pub only. If you go in expecting a 5 star restaurant with pressed linens and a full silverware setting, you’re sorely mistaken. If you go in expecting to carry in your precious dime sized Fido in your rhinestone purse, this isn’t your place. THISPLACEISPISSAH! Dark, gloomy, poorly lit and dare I say, pub-like…imagine that! If you like revolutionary style atmosphere, this is your place. I regularly get the Mac n cheese or bangers & mash. Both dishes are consistent and I love them. I personally feel this place is a gold mine.

We have been going to this restaurant for years, have owned a house in Edwgartown for 20 years. We had dinner there tonight and were underwhelmed. Always thought of The Newes as a good burger or reasonable dinner spot. The beers tonight were served in smaller glasses and still $ 6.75 each. The food was ok, not great. For 2 people $ 100 was way too much for what we got. I will focus on value for my $$. There are other restaurants in town with better food and ambiance. After many years the Newes no longer does it for me.

I have to go back again tonight because I can’t recall much from when I went 2 nights ago. Quite fun if I do say so myself

In an attempt to conceal my tiny, well-mannered, adorable miniature Pomeranian AND satisfy mine and my boyfriends hankering for New England seaside fare, we sat at an outdoor table at The Newes From America Pub in Martha’s Vineyard. The menu is comprised of traditional Irish dishes and your typical American eats. We were tempted to try the«rack of beer» custom sampler, which did deliver 5 beers of our choice in an old flight paddle rack, slightly awkward to maneuver without tipping. Fine. Great, time to eat. Summons the greasy, stoner-esque waiter, to fetch a decent bowl of clam chowder and a much less enjoyable platter of rubbery, ill-cut, previously frozen calamari and waaaaay too many deep friend jalapeño rings. No thanks, I’m saving room for my $ 20 lobster roll and«salad»(add $ 2 extra to NOT have fries). My boyfriend opted for the bangers and mashed. I was rightly skeptical. Shit came out looking like some Jimmy Dean links were left to wrinkle in the sun for 2 weeks, covered in a questionably dark mystery sauce,(clearly meant to conceal) atop a sad plop of basic bitch mashed potatoes and a small heap of green beans in white chunky sauce. From later discussion, apparently the shriveled links tasted grotesquely burnt and the maroon sauce was an overload of sodium rich gravy from a mix or a can, but certainly no one’s love for the culinary arts! The«white» sauce smothering the green beans was actually an appalling amount of kiss-killing garlic, also derived from a jar and carelessly overpowering any attempt at a flavor profile. My lobster roll was 9 parts lettuce leaf and 1 part, undressed, lack-luster lobster. Rip off central. The«salad» was some greens literally stuffed into a tiny soup crock with no other vegetables or meaning. I pulled out one forkful and the entire bowl of leaves exploded like the last hunk of tissue from the Kleenex box. Fail. In an attempt to keep my little furry lady(still well behaved and hidden) happy, I ordered her the chicken wings off the kid’s menu. Three clumpy pieces of batter heavy chicken arrived at the end of the meal with fries. I pulled them apart to feed her the meat. Stoner Steve returned, not to ask us if we needed anything or to inquire as to how our meals were, but to inform us if we wanted to come back, the doggie would not be allowed. Don’t worry buddy, we wont be back.

We’ve had two meals here this weekend: a breakfast and a dinner. The breakfast was delicious– I had the French toast which was cut thick, dipped in egg and served with mixed berries and warm syrup. My dining companion had the yogurt fruit parfait which was freshly prepared but she also enjoyed tasting my French toast. Dinner was a classic New England Clam Chowder filled by BBQ Ribs. My dining companion enjoyed the turkey sandwich. Have a look at the pics!

I would have given The Newes 4 stars but our service was just bad! I feel that if the food is good, service can be mediocre and it will be just fine. Not here!!! The service was so bad it almost made the food taste bad. After being seated we were greeted almost immediately with our drink order. From there is went all down hill. After 15 minutes we had to ask for our waiter. Once out waiter arrived we said«through you forgot about us» he then said«I was busy»…hmmmm I through as a waiter you are supposed to «wait» on people, what else can you be doing. He was busy chatting with the hostess. We had to ask for refills and ask for the check. Just Bad!!! Sucks to give this place a 1 because I actually liked my Fish and Chips. Next time I am around my eyes will skip this place! Note to management… please keep your servers in check, it does mean something to people.

The service was slow. The food was good and well prepared. At the end of the meal they gave us the wrong check. The waitstaff were not friendly and many of them seemed like they did not want to be there– the bartender is probably the nicest guy in the place. The waitresses were not receptive and the waiters lacked basic etiquette. The food was decent but the service did not meet expectations. If the service were better our experience would have been much more enjoyable.

Although I am giving this a three star rating I am telling everyone that visits the island they have to go here. It is probably one of the oldest pubs on the island and I have been going here since I was in my mothers womb… Literally. The reason I am giving this place a three star rating is because I think the quality of the food has really gone down since I could remember. However, the french onion soup and Roquefort stilettos were superb as usual. I do think this place is better in the winter and I do miss the pepperoncini that they used to have at the tables. The beer is definitely good to get if you like to drink a lot of beer because they come in large mugs and they even have a sampler rack which is pretty awesome just hard to finish if you are a girl that gets full from beer easily.

Nice place. Great atmosphere. Server was a bit shy but English wasn’t her first language. Understandable. Served me a breakfast item after breakfast was over. Big plus. Lox and bagels were good. No capers though. That was odd but great presentation and taste.

A fun place to eat in Edgartown… the food was good– Not mind blowing awesome but nothing to complain about either. They were extremely busy and so the service was rather slow — but they kept coming to the table to update us on how much longer we would need to wait.

Great restaurant in Edgartown. Portions were huge and the prices were very reasonable. Haddock Fish and Chips were amazing – giant piece of fish. We also ordered Fried Chicken and Reuben Sandwhich. We ate outside – great spot to people watch. Definitely a kid-friendly establishment – very accommodating staff. Service was outstanding. Would highly recommend it.

While visiting Edgartown, we wanted to have some lunch. I saw that this place has good reviews so I went to check it out. It was really empty when I went. We were pretty much the only dining customers. I was weirded out but Martha’s Vineyard in general seemed pretty empty. I guess it’s because I went during off-peak season. The staff was really friendly and chill. The bathrooms were pretty clean. We ordered the lobster mac and cheese, Bangers ‘n Hash, and the crab cakes. The lobster mac and cheese was amazing. There was just the right amount of lobster pieces swimming with bacon bits in the perfectly melted 3 cheeses covered in panko. I expected the bacon to be the cheap crispy, hard kinds but it wasn’t. My only complaint is that the cheese cools down to a glob-like consistency. 9⁄10 I didn’t really try much of the Bangers ‘n Hash dish besides little bites. This dish consists of Irish sausages and mashed potatoes. The bangers were cooked with onions and they were delicious. The mash was not really up my alley. It was very buttery(yellow-colored mash) and creamy. I don’t generally like butter in my mash. 8⁄10 The crab cakes were decent-sized. They were the first crab cakes I ate that tasted fishy(a good thing). Generally, I feel like they taste more like stuffing. I want to be able to actually taste the crabs! It is a crab cake after all. You actually see the crab meat when you cut into it. Usually it’s mushed up breading at other places. 8⁄10 Come eat the good eats of Edgartown! I also hear the beer is good!

It’s the best I think it’s ever been. I’ve been going here for years and was surprisingly surprised. Burger was really good along with the prime rib($ 19.99), 3 cheese mac and cheese and fish and chips were ALL worthy of repeat performance. They have two sizes of beer, many good selections(some local) and decent service. Our food was served quickly and hot! We’ll return. soon…

I always come here when I’m on the vineyard. It’s kind of dark very pub-ish. Not a huge place but very intimate and cozy. The French onion soup is killer good, a must have. The Caesar is good very thick dressing though. My bf ordered the French dip sandwich, neat was good au jus was great… bread was not fantastic. We also tried the buttermilk fried chicken– yum.

For me, every vacation needs a quiet little spot, a comfortable seat to pull up with ready access to a cold beer. My spot on the Vineyard is a little busier than most, and there aren’t a whole lot of seats at the tiny bar(either of them), so you have to time it right in the high season. But, this is it. Cold beer, prompt and friendly service, the brown bag of hot and crispy, fresh fried Onion Rings are a welcome bonus.
