Models? Sports authority? I don’t really know the difference but I always feel like the sports authority is better than models. More products. More organization. And better merchandising. Associates are friendly and helpful tho. Only reason why I come here is cause it’s closer than sports authority. And sometimes they have some good sales on Nike merch!

OK here we go. The following are the events that took place a week ago at this very Modells. While searching online for basketball sneakers, I discovered Modells was selling Adidas Mad Handles for $ 29.99. Perfect for my price range. But what do I do? I don’t know if the size will fit me. So I do what any normal internet shopper would do and look at the return policy of Modells. You can return something unused with a receipt within 365 days of original purchase. I thought, no brainer. Buy in size 9, 9.5, and 10. Try them on, see what doesn’t fit, roll into this Modells and return it. But $ 29.99 is so cheap, I should buy two. OK place an order for 2x each size 9, 9.5, and 10. Done, easy. As I’m pressing the submit button, I remember there’s a coupon code! Too late. Order went through. That’s fine, I’ll just call tomorrow when Modells customer service opens and cancel the first order. I don’t want to lose out on this deal(since you don’t know when this sneaker will sell out) so I place another order(this time with the coupon code) for the same amount of sneakers. I go to sleep, happy, with my game plan for the next day. I wake up. An email from Modells. Your order has shipped.(2). For some reason, Modells decided to be extra fast with their shipping and sent out BOTH orders before I got a chance to cancel. Meaning 12 pairs of these sneakers were shipped to my house. I thought, no big deal, just more to return. They arrive. I try on each size. I’m a size 9.5. The next day, head to my nearest Modells with 10 pairs of sneakers. Go to this Modells. Get to the front. Have to return 10 pairs of sneakers. Hold on, gotta get my manager. Manager comes. His name is Ryan. He asks a lot of questions. I mean it does seem a bit suspicious I guess. He tells me it’s not common that someone does this. I explain my situation. He understands. Through lack of communication from both of us, he returns the three pairs that were at the cheaper price and only returns two pairs at the more expensive price. Clearly, that defeats the purpose of what I want to do. I only find this out after he prints out both return forms. I bring this to his attention. He realizes the vastness of the task ahead of him. And this is where his professionalism comes in. From the get-go, I could feel that this was frustrating for him. I mean come on, who does this right? I do. So, knowing he was a bit frustrated, I was expecting that I would have to battle and make sure he doesn’t shorthand what I want. But like I said before, he was very professional to even a personal level. I told him I wished they had a cancel button so that we could have avoided all this. He spends the next 20 minutes on the phone with corporate explaining the whole situation to a lady who tried her best to understand. In the end, I left the store with the promise that everything was resolved. Of course, it wasn’t. I look at my bank statement and they went even more extreme and only refunded 2 pairs of the more expensive ones. In essence, it was like they only returned 8 pairs instead of 10. Instead of going to Ryan to fix this situation, I figured a phone call to corporate customer service might be a good idea. I call them. I tell them they didn’t return my money. She apologized and returned it. So all in all, I am happy. Moral of the story, when returning a crazy order like this, explain the situation before they do anything. Treat everyone with respect. And at the end of the day, tell that great manager named Ryan that you’re going to leave a great Unilocal review for his service. If you made it this far, if you haven’t realized already, I highly recommend this Modells. Thank you.

For a Models… this particular one is okay. I personally have found other ones with bigger selections of sporting equipment and«fan gear.» Decent prices, very clean and organized. The workers here are nice… they also know where everything is and are very helpful as well.

As a hockey player, getting equipment from a Modells used to be easy. Now… not so much. The store is clean, it’s pretty neat, but they don’t sell any hockey equipment anymore! Let me explain something to you. I know we don’t live in Canada, but how do you not sell Hockey equipment but you sell stuff for lacrosse? That’s right, they’ll also get a truck load of these weird baseball helmets, volleyballs, and even ping pong tables… but they won’t carry hockey sticks or roller hockey balls anymore? When they first stopped carrying hockey stuff, that was in 2006. I asked why, they said they were going based off the hockey sales the year before(2005). Umm… that’s when the NHL had a strike and they didn’t play for the whole year. So still to this day… no hockey! I remember asking them a while back again if they were going to bring back hockey, they of course said yes… but still nothing. Hockey jerseys are crap now: Also… I don’t know what it is about the clothing, but the hockey jerseys are crap now! This is not their fault, it’s where ever they get the merchandise from. The hockey jerseys use to be double stitched, now… one number is screen printed with fake stitching, on the larger number that is sewn in. They feel cheap, and yet… are only $ 60 more now! I remember when blank jerseys were about $ 50 – 60, and the one’s with the player names were about $ 100. These jerseys are $ 160 now! Are you kidding me?

We come here for sneakers and all our sporting needs. We accumulated so many Modell’s points that we do occasional get nice cash discount — in addition to the continuous flow of 15% or 20% off coupons in the mail. Highly recommended — and better than shopping online which you are buying things that you can’t really touch & feel.

This Modell’s is pretty solid. I most recently popped in here for a gym bag. They have a big assortment of shoes(running, tennis, bball & those silly ones with the toes…) They also have a lot of the odds and ends you need for sports like new cleats, gloves, athletic clothing and all that jazz. They also have a big assortment of yankees/mets/jets/giants garb as well. I like coming in here after the season and you can usually get a killer deal on clothes.

If you ever need help with shoes or anything… good luck! My 1st job ever was at a modells but not this one so i know their customer service rules… you will be a dried out pile of bones by the time anyone comes around to help. Horrendous.

Again, a chain store that exceeded my expectations. I came to this Modell’s on Black Friday. I had something specific I wanted, but I also had questions about it. I received prompt, helpful service from not one but TWO wonderful associates. I have shopped at this particular Modell’s before, and have been able to find what I was looking for. But the helpful service is what makes this a standout place to shop for athletic/sporting goods/team apparel.
