Old people love this place. I find it average. Service has gone downhill a bit in the last year or so. Only come here when my grandparents want to. Salad bar is good. Food is typical large commercial restaurant fare.

Have been going to Charlie Brown’s restaurants for family dinners for years. This time it was to celebrate Mother’s Day. It was crowded as expected but the salad bar remained well stocked and our server was attentive. Due to the holiday, it was a prix fixe menu including app, entrée, and salad bar. I had clam chowder to start which was surprisingly delish and full of clams. I typically order clam chowder only at seafood-centric restaurants, but would order this again here. My boyfriend had the avocado bruschetta which was one half of a small avocado containing bruschetta. Basically a two bite app, so would have been better had they served two. My main course was prime rib which was cooked as ordered along with a «perfectly baked» baked potato. The prime rib and the au jus accompanying the prime rib could have been more flavorful. Entrée gets a 3, service 4, app and salad bar 4

This restaurant has always been my wife’s favorite since the beginning of time. The prime rib is her standard and she has never been disappointed. The ribeye, short ribs, and fish and chips are my personal favorites. Exceptional service and the food is fantastic!

I get the ribeye steak every time and its very good. I ask for extra seasoning on it and a side of homemade spicy chips.

I visited this restaurant on Jan. 15th. I ordered the Combination Platter. It was inedible. The chicken fingers and chicken wings were completely dried out. Even the mozzarela sticks were dry. A few days prior my mom had the same experience with what she ordered. Very disappointing.

Around this neighborhood, Charlie Brown establishments have never lasted the test of time but this place has remained a constant to locals and new comers for more than 40 years. Like most long standing restaurants, they do one thing the best and that item for me is their Prime Rib. My order is the same here every time: Queen Cut(mid rare; juicy and tender) and ayce salad bar(always fresh) With a price tag of $ 20 it can’t be beat. The servers are killing it with kindness as well which adds to the warmth that the mahogany themed dining room brings. This place a real neighborhood gem. **Also check in on Unilocal to receive a free Firecracker Shrimp(pretty big portion and delicious)

The service was excellent! Our server was very pleasant and attentive but the food was terrible. I ordered a burger and fries and the fries were old and full of grease. The burger was dry and full of these chewie bits. I would not recommend this restaurant nor would I return.

Come here with my dad occasionally whenever I visit him in NJ. It’s a bit of a drive for us, but we do love eating the food! And they do offer coupons, but not sure if it’s for everyone, or some kind of rewards system coupon, like $ 10 off two entrees. We get that a lot. To be honest, we usually always bring our meal home, because the salad bar is so good, we fill up on that. Some salad bar notables: Shredded carrots, eggs, black olives, delicious macaroni salad(not too heavy on the mayonnaise or mustard), potato salad(this is a bit heavy so get sparingly), cheeses, deli meats, tomatoes, mushrooms, artichokes, crumbled bacon. I hardly ever need to get actual lettuce here! They have iceberg and romaine. Croutons, salad dressings, and olive oil/vinegar. Bread slices, but it’s cold, not toasted, and not very soft. Maybe it’s the type of bread they use. As for the main dishes, I’ve had some good steaks here. Cooked how I wanted — medium rare. The most recent time I came here our large group had the most tender prime rib meal. Oh my god. Medium rare, or borderline rare, juicy succulent pink. Delicious, melt in your mouth! Maybe a bit too salty, but that’s how restaurants like to cheaply season their food, so I don’t hold this against them. Service is always friendly. It’s not a crazy, rowdy, jam packed crowd/place here, although there is a bar and people like to sit and watch games. I think the crowd feels either older or more family oriented. At least at this particular location. I know the hostess is always the same older woman. The place is kind of drab though. Very outdated, boring, dark brown décor. And it has a musty smell when you walk in. It fades away, but musty, like wet cardboard around the front. Bathrooms are pretty tidy and by the front, in the hallway you walk up to be seated by the hostess. There’s a large step, so be careful walking in/out!

POORFOODPOORSERVICE. Had dinner on a Wednesday evening. Restaurant was empty. Service Very Slow and obnoxious server Gaston. Showed our Unilocal coupon as he snickered when honoring. $ 10 wings were soggy Prime Rib was full of Fat and a dried up end cut. Stuffed Shrimp was such a small portion that plate was filled with Rice. Then when I showed him our $ 10 mailed coupon he said«pick which one you want» not both. Been a loyal customer but NEVERAGAIN

As far as a chain restaurant, it’s not the worst. The quality of meat is better than Fridays, applebees, or outback. That said, my wife’s strip steak was less than a half inch thick, but nicely cooked. I thought it lacked seasoning– even simple salt and pepper. She liked the mashed potatoes. I went with the short ribs, which were falling apart nicely. I could have done without the plate of fried onions, maybe some vegetables not deep fried? The fried onions just filled the space between the short rib and the baked potato… which was a huge space. They have a salad bar, which is nice. The onions and peppers aren’t cut small enough to make it convenient to eat, but whatever. I don’t think I’d go back, there are better chains and better steakhouses out there.

Typical chain restaurant, nothing special. The only good thing this place has going for it is the salad bar. The wait staff is sub par and don’t understand NOTOMATO. Told them 3 times that I am allergic and I still got tomato on my burger when I ordered my lunch.

I’ve always had a good experience here. We typically sit at a table on the bar side and have always been able to walk in and sit down. The salad bar could have more veggies for my liking, but that’s my only suggestion. Their drink menu has a great selection!

There’s a fresh salad bar which is the best part. Came on a Wednesday night, restaurant was barely full and service was insanely slow. Entrees were ok tasting, nothing special. The fries that came with my parents’ burgers werr soggy. Overall prices are not worth it for what we got.

Surprised to find one still in business, but I now know why they are on the way out. Ordered the You Choose: coconut shrimp and duchess cut steak with a side of garlic green beans. Steak was old tasting, poorly seasoned but cooked adequately. The salad bar had brown spinach and black shredded carrots. Yuck! Dangerous! My brother in law wanted to go here for his birthday but apologized to us for the bad decision. A star for friendly service.

Having been to several classy steakhouses recently, I took a chance on Charlie Brown’s. The day was late and I was starving! Slow but friendly service, decently priced steak, semi-fatty ribeye meat. I left the majority of my 20 oz sitting on the plate. What was originally rare quickly delved into too fat and too tough meat, albeit still red. My garlic green bean side was tough and missing the garlic taste and the fried onions were largely left alone. Too fried, too unhealthy, too bland. This location has a really good moscato. Get it. It’s a sweet, fruity and complex as described in the drink menu. Highlight of my night was the salad bar and complimentary firecracker shrimp. Love the very fresh salad bar teeming with choices, everything from veggies, cranberries, croutons to a multitude of potato salads, macaroni salads and couscous. The firecracker shrimp had a kick and was quite tasty. Ultimately, no comparison against the«real» steakhouses but still a good substitute if in a crunch. Although, the out of way location makes it a difficult return visit.

The salad bar is a great option for lunch. It has just about everything except shrimp which is fine by me since most salad bar shrimp is not worth the effort. It has just about everything on it. For another dollar, you can also get a soup or chili with your salad bar. We ordered a pitcher of sangria but it was sparse on both the fruit and the alcohol. Our server was terrific. I’ve had dinner here a few times too. In my opinion, It’s more in the 3 star range for it’s entrees. But, for lunch, it is a recommended stop.
