Old School Bagel Cafe

My husband old roommate was the first to suggest this place to us. I really liked the selection of bagels.

Weak coffee, bagels looked good… they should think about filling out their pastry repertoire with some sweets… or at least presenting the muffins in a more appealing fashion.

While the bagels and sandwiches are amazing, the service here is subpar. The food is great, the bagels are just chewy enough and very flavorful and the veggies are fresh, however the workers here can be very rude and unfriendly. On my most recent trip the cashier seemed annoyed that we had even come in to order something and the rest of the staff was messing around in plain view of the costumers while people were waiting for their food. After we had ordered the cashier picked up the tip box and moved it basically on top of my purse, which in my opinion is extremely rude especially after acting so annoyed with us. I understand that they are probably working minimum wage but shoving the tip box in our face is just plain rude, if we wanted to tip your subpar service we would have.
The food here is great but I hope that management and the owners will have a talk with their workers about costumer service, especially since so many reviewers have commented on the service here.

Always a great spot for breakfast or lunch. Definitely check the hours, because I find myself craving a turkey guacamole bagel in the late afternoon, and I know I can’t go grab it!
My one unfortunate event with this location was with the pick up window. My husband had called in some bagels and coffee for us to pick up. He said there were about 3 cars in front of him, but he said they were taking their orders, and then waiting. And then taking the orders, and waiting. So it turned into a 30 minute trip… and our coffee was cold when we got home. I think if he would have known that it wasn’t just a pickup/​to-​go window, he would have gone in. But then you get blocked in etc. So just be aware of that– however it would be nice to get that fixed or having a better system for that.

This was my first visit to old school bagel as I had been given a gift card by a vendor and was excited to try a new place. It appeared clean and inviting with a nice set of menu options. We placed our order and although the dessert options for lunch were woefully lacking we made due. We took out Togo order bag and headed back to the office to work and eat.
Got to my desk to find that while my coworker got her sandwich mine didn’t make it into the bag. I called this location and advised them that they forgot my lunch and was transferred to the manager Anthony. He sounds like he is about 22 and although he apologized his tone sounded anything but apologetic. So I’m sitting at my desk, hungry, asking if they can deliver my lunch and he says no but I can come get it and it will be ready when I get there.
Or I can have a free sandwich some other time when I come in. I asked if there is t something else can do because I can’t leave work and now have no lunch, not that he knows, but am hypoglycemic and need food on a regular basis. I ask to speak with his boss and he says he is the general manager. I ask to speak with the owner and he says he is t in very often. Again, he apologizes in that same very unapologetic tone.
Take your bagel business elsewhere folks. They don’t actually care if they mess up!

All I can say is bacon egg and cheese breakfast bagel YUM if there were 10 stars Old School Bagel Covell Rd this place is awesome!!! Keep up the good work old school!!!

Great food, service, location and employees are always polite. A little slow but worth it.

I love the food at Old School Bagel… when they get my order right at least. This location is frequently busy with college students, young families and retired couples that keep the staff busy. But services suffers due to the young inexperienced staff that enjoys goofing off in the back more than providing a quality product.
On my most recent trip, they got one of the sandwiches wrong which would make for the 3^rd time in a few weeks. This location can’t seem to get it right no matter how many chances they get. It is becoming status quo that either the bagel is the wrong flavor, the toppings aren’t correct or you are overcharged for your order. Today, they managed to leave all of the requested vegetables off of a turkey sandwich. Leaving the veggies off wouldn’t have been that big of a deal if I was dining in, but it is frustrating when you get your order to go and get home to find out your order is again incorrect.
I really enjoy the food that comes out of this kitchen; the bagels are just chewy enough, the meats are good quality and the veggies are fresh. Sadly though, I’m not sure how much longer I will be satisfied by the service when my order is almost always incorrect.

Coffee first, bagels come in second, service last place.
This café has nice little quiet spots to sit and sip. The bar area is weird to sit at (and by that I mean impossible) because the stools are not the correct bar height, and the bar hits your chest when you sit and eat there.
Their espresso is actually pretty good. The drip coffee is hit and miss. The bagels are usually fresh and tasty. The service can be slow, so this isn’t a in-​and-​out to-​go place for me, but it’s a nice spot to meet someone for breakfast or lunch.
There are a ton of bagel types, sandwiches and cream cheese toppings to choose from. They also croissants and pastries; tea and juice.
So why not five stars? In true NY bagelry fashion, the employees can be hurried and inattentive. At worst, they’re downright rude. Today, one of the staff was belittling the girl at the cashier in front of the customers, even though it was her first day. Would it kill them to smile now and then?
Anyway, good bagels, good pastries, good coffee; however, grumpy staff.

Good bagels, polite/​friendly service (substantially more polite/​friendly than the one on Broadway/​33^rd in my opinion), the café is cute and homey if you’re into that kind of thing. I almost always get the same thing– lox, cream cheese, capers, onions, no tomatoes. Either on a garlic or asiago bagel, toasted. The wait can be a little bit on the long side for a food item that’s so simple to make, (maybe its the toaster?) but it doesn’t really bother me. I usually end up paying about $ 6.50 for what I order, which again is fine. You may think that’s high or low, «cheap» is subjective. That being said, I do like the place. It’s good.
Howeverrrr… I’ve probably been to this location 10 times and I swear half the time they screw something up with my order. I wrote my normal order above… there is literally 4 ingredients on the bagel. I’ll end up with tomatoes, sometimes the bagel is toasted and other times it isn’t, today they didn’t put onions on it. It’s not a huge deal to me, I’ll pick the tomatoes off or deal with going onion-​less. Seriously, I’m not that picky… but other people might be. Hence the 3 star review.

Great food and friendly employees; however, the service is extremely slow. A few employees are playing on their phones instead of preparing orders.

I’ve popped into this establishment at all hours of the day and the service has always been great.
Considering that breakfast is good anytime of the day, a sausage egg and cheese bagel fills the belly and keeps you going. The Breakfast bagel at Old School Bagel Café will put a smile on your face!
Parking is plentiful and easy to get into. The coffee is pretty good to!

I had the bagel/​lox/​cream cheese to go for lunch on a weekday. Good service and cute little shop. The bagel was ok, but the lox and capers were delicious. Possibly a bit too much cream cheese, but I’d definitely go back.

«No New York in the name but the bagels are still the same»… They clearly have no idea what a New York bagel is. The amount of cream cheese that they have been putting on their bagels is getting smaller and smaller. I keep telling myself that it is just that time, that particular person who made my bagel, but that isn’t the case. It really frustrating because there bagels themselves are really good.

Great bagels! Always fresh and homemade. They do lunch as well and the menu is extensive for a bagel shop. Coffee is not my favorite.

This location of Old School Bagel Café is a great site. The staff are courteous and the bagels are fresh and tasty. They fix what you order very quickly and have ample seating with free WIFI. After you go there a few times, the staff start to learn your name, and use it before you get to the counter — that earns big time points with me! The coffee used to be pretty bad, but they recently started brewing a different kind and it is much better. I wouldn’t call it gourmet, but it is good. They have a great garlic bagel with lox and cream cheese — though you may want to steer clear from intimate contact with others afterward unless they really like the smell of garlic and onions (!). You can always get a different kind of bagel to cut down on the halitosis. Bagels are, of course, always fresh. I tried their egg salad on a bagel once — not my favorite. It might be yours though. For now, I’m sticking to my oat and honey bagel with lox, cream cheese, tomatoes, and capers. This is a great place for breakfast or lunch. I enjoy stopping in here at least once a week. Originally I gave this place 4 stars, but I’m upgrading to 5. They learned my name, got better coffee, and they always get my bagel done quickly and right. Awesome!

Best bagels ever! I have been struggling to find a decent bagel café in Oklahoma, and this was my saving grace. This location has become our Saturday morning tradition. The one on May is also fantastic.

I honestly loved the bagel. It was crusty and chewey and had great balance of flavors. I was also thrilled that I didn’t have 3″ of cream cheese smeared all over my bagel. I had just enough, which was great. I don’t remember how much the bagel was, less than $ 3. Unfortunately they need help on their coffee. But, that bagel. nom nom nom. I want more.
