Best sushi in town!!! The tuna sashimi salad is my all time favorite starter along with the spicy edamame. The Hama Kama(yellow collar) is outstanding. The lychee martini is so delicious!!! After all the tasty sushi please do your self a favor and get the bread pudding!!! The service was great, everyone helps each other. The staff is super nice, I will definitely return.

Food was ok. Service was average. This place used to be so much better before they moved. It’s too bad… I loved this restaurant until now.

My favorite sushi place in the valley by far. They are slightly pricier than some of the alternatives but well worth it. The menu is vast and versatile and everything is delicious. The spicy edamame and dynamite shrimp are absolute musts!

My sister lives in Vail and recommended Sato for sushi. Best sushi I have had in a long time. Our group really enjoyed the flounder, albacore and spicy tuna sashimi salad. The sashimi salad is the best thing I have ever had in any sushi restaurant. A must have. Sato is worth the stop.

My hubby and I visited this restaurant a few years ago(in a different location) before kids, and it was superb! We decided to visit again. We were not disappointed. The fish is phenomenal and the service was fantastic. It was our first night in Colorado and the kids were tired/cranky. Our server(she was tall, blonde, worked as a nanny previously) bent over backwards to make them happy. I wish we lived closer!

Sushi wasn’t too Fresh and the service was iffy. I would focus on the rolls instead of the sashimi. Good news is the staff was very nice and seemed interested in improving.

A group of us(six to be exact) went to dine here for dinner and what a pleasant surprise it was to find such a gem! a few of the dishes we ordered were as follows: Rainbow roll: fish was fresh and well done. Soft shell crab tacos: This had white pancake as shells and this was really flavorful and delicious. Neat little appetizer. Dragon Roll: Tasty! Pad Thai: I liked it better than at most Thai restaurants. Nigiri/Sushi — Fresh. Roll with truffle oil on top: sorry don’t remember name but this was unique and I liked it. We ordered other things but I don’t remember exactly what the rolls were called but were all quite good. The servers were friendly and attentive. Food came out steadily and the sake selections were good. We all liked this place. Thumbs up!

Hoping they were just having a bad night, but all around, not very good. The waitress couldn’t have been nicer, but that didn’t make up for the lackluster food and drinks. We went there on a Thursday night and it was dead… no vibe at all. Far cry from our dining experience a few years ago… which was outstanding. Sad to say, but we won’t be going back anytime soon.

I guess Sushi in the mountains just isn’t as fresh or good as it is in a bigger city. Sato was a nice atmosphere, and I sat at the sushi bar with my husband and a friend after a day of skiing. We were all in the mood for a good few bites of sushi. We ordered a few appetizers, and the seaweed salad was good, but the egg rolls were not what we expected. We ordered a bunch of sushi rolls, they were all very mediocre. Not really impressed by their roll selection, and everything was pretty expensive for what it was. But I guess this is what you get when you are in the mountains! Overpriced sushi!

I really like Sato. The new location is much smaller and that is a good thing. It feels cozy and electric with energy at the same time. The sushi is very good. Definitely ask the staff for advice as there are a lot of directions you can go with their menu.

We ordered what we thought was a huge amount of fish but we ended up with over priced, thin slices of sashimi and rotten tasting sea urchin. The fish taste was so strong every glass I drank out of absorbed the rotten sea urchin smell, even the waitor agreed that it smelled disgusting, yet didn’t offer any discount or comp of our meal. Our visit here has left me with a $ 100+ stomach ache. Back to john Holly’s in Denver!

I have been here several times usually at happy hour after snow boarding. Even the bar tender is an attractive friendly lady. Its the only place in Edwards that has the ever elusive Carlsberg on draft. I am from Miami and I am always amazed at sushi being this good and fresh in the rockie’s. The wait team see’s to coordinate there effort in service at «Happy Hour» and are usually very attentive until the place starts filling up. They are mostly very attractive young ladies as well. The«Happy hour» prices are comparable to equal quality sushi restaurants in Miami and the fish has to come a really long way from either coast. Spicy tuna roll, California roll and Hamachi are great fresh classic rolls and always fresh«Apre Ski». The lounge area next to the bar is Modern comfortable and Avantgard, like the Chop stick art on the back wall. I like it.

Before going to this place I read many reviews(none on Unilocal) that said that the sushi was good but the service atrocious. I’ve eaten sushi on both coasts and in Japan. While Sato’s offerings are not«cosmic», they are certainly good enough for this sushi snob.(Life’s too short for mediocre sushi) The negative reviews focused on the service, which was described in harsh terms, so I went with my party, expecting to endure the service in order to enjoy the fish. In fact the service was attentive without being intrusive, friendly without being effusive. Most notable was that all the servers acted as a well-coordinated team. I never had the sense that anyone would ignore a customer’s needs, because it was«not my table». The manager conceded that when the place opened in its new space, there were problems, but it’s apparent that the management took the feedback seriously. I’d certainly return on my next trip to the area, and I highly recommend it. A couple of quibbles: The nigiri was fine, but many of the rolls(as seems to be the habit in all area restaurants) were overwrought, with too many ingredients. A salmon skin roll does not need smelts, nor does a spicy tuna roll need smelts as well as avocado. The unagi was a bit cold, but tasty.

This used to be my favorite sushi place in the valley; but after my meal this evening, I think that I’m going to have to get my sushi fix elsewhere. Love the Volcano Roll and Buddha’s Delight and both were ok; however, they were lacking the vibrant flavors and perfectly combined textures that they did in the past. The Green Eggs and Hamachi was pretty close to being right on; but like all of the rolls, we felt like it was not prepared to previous standards. Even the garlic chile sauce that comes with the edamame was disappointing– it wasn’t as hot(used to be blazingly hot) or as flavorful. Our meal wasn’t terrible and the quality of the fish was good as always, we just left feeling really let down and that the experience wasn’t worth the prices. Hoping it’s just an off night and that they’ll be back to serving fabulous and tasty rolls soon, but I’ll definitely be keeping my options open for a new favorite.

Really good sushi in the mountains and in a great setting. The front of the restaurant opens up with rolling windows to bring fresh air and a patio feeling to the whole restaurant. A great way to enjoy a meal with the fresh mountain air! I had the tempura vegetables. Amazing! Also several varieties of rolls, the dragon roll being my favorite. The sashimi was solid too. All was reasonably priced, not cheap, but sushi should never be cheap. Getting there before 6:30 helped as several of the rolls we wanted were a few bucks off for happy hour. Would go again for sure!

We were invited at friends request as the best in the areal. I know they were interested in showing their town in the best light possible. With that said… The happy hour rolls where excellent, interesting and cheap. 5 stars The rest was ok, and way overpriced. 3 stars The décor was non-descript well lit Asian/modern/open space. 3 stars The wait staff was about as stupid as any I have EVER seen. Whoa! –1 star. I had to ask for my beer 3 times with another in our party asking twice, even though it was the first order taken. Clearly, the waitress forgot but then blamed the bartender for«getting backed up.» Right, cause opening a beer is sooooo complicated. 1 star

Bistro environment w/electro lounge music Fresh fish Amazing presentation Tucked away and located in what looks to be a commercial office area, Sato packs people into this rather small sushi establishment quite often from what I was told. I arrived around 8pm on a Saturday evening and we had to wait about 8 minutes for a table to clear out, but it was more than worth the wait. It seemed to me that this was the happening spot to visit on a weekend night. The crowd was in good humor and even a bit lively for a sushi spot. Throughout my visit, it seemed that the owners cater to a 20−40yr old crowd, believe it or not trip-hop does have a cap on its enjoyment age. However, T-Pain was playing when I first arrived, but R&B never came back so it must have been a request because they had some dead space in the tunes shortly after leaving me to believe they were rotating discs. This fish was incredibly fresh and they even had a few specialty rolls that I hadn’t seen before. The presentation was so amazing that I couldn’t keep my eyes on my own plate. I proceeded to check out other patrons dishes to see if it was consistent — and it was. Another aspect that I enjoyed was the specialty loose leaf teas they offer. They had a very nice selection. The service was exceptional and very friendly. The wait staff was on top of everything. Overall, this place is a must visit and if I am in the area will return again. The only reason this place received a 4 of 5 stars is because their specialty rolls section could have been a little more creative. Enjoy!
