I use to like coming to eat a burger here until recently my girlfriend and i bought 2 burgers and one of them smelled so effn bad. I smelled the meat and it made me want to gag. It smelled like the meat was sitting there for days and they just cooked it. Ill never come here again.

Found this place while killing time for an appointment at the Valley Mall area. The Huevos Ranchos at this Golden Ox was delish. The price was slightly more than its competitor up the street, at $ 6.56. I also at the last minute ordered a side of avocado, yum. Nice window seating looking out towards the The Valley Mall(people and stores) I would definitely go back to 10903 Valley Mall, El Monte, Ca., 91731and eat while people watching.

I first came in here to use the restroom and it was disgusting!!! Then I walked over to the front and had the chicken filet combo. The sandwich itself was decent, but the fries didn’t have a good texture. Soggy and too oily. Everything was NOT worth the price at $ 9 before tax. I was very surprised that they didn’t have a tab for just water at the fountain. I didn’t realize this was a chain before I Unilocaled it up. Maybe it’s just this place with the ehh experience.

Stress at work drove me to look for pastrami and this was on my way home. So convenient and they were open till 11 pm. The sandwich was humongous. The meat must’ve been a whole pound, I barely made a dent on half of the sandwich which was conveniently cut without me requesting to. I was in meat heaven. Many times I have told myself that I should start shunning meat and eat more veggies and bam! Places like this make me dig my heels in resolve. So I politely asked for chili peppers to get my fruit and veggie quota of the day. This location is a lot better than the one in BP because it’s well-lighted and in a busy intersection. I’m sure they get a lot of business here. Haven’t tried their other offerings but I will surely come back for more of their pastrami.

I consider myself a food snob and I didn’t think I would like this place, but I love it. I’ve had their burgers and club sandwiches and I’ve really enjoyed them!

I had to venture out to El Monte on Tuesday morning. I was hungry as fuck and saw this place as I cruised through what seemed to be a deserted ass ghost town. The sign says«Valley Mall» but there was nothing mall-looking about it, it looked like the economy hit this place hard… shit looks like Detroit or something. Anyway, saw the Golden Ox, saw that it was open and decided to hit it up. The place is pretty big, lots of tables, although they’re old and really cramped. I ordered a sausage breakfast burrito and some coffee. Shit hit the spot and all for about $ 7.00. Good stuff.

I’ve been coming here for years. Love their charbroiled burgers and onion rings with ranch. Their breakfast burritos are so good here too! Was the service good? Yuppers. Will I return? Hell to the yeah! Another reason why I miss El Monte…

First of all, coming here felt like I was entering another country. I guess it must be how non-asisns feel when they go to the SGV. Anyway, I had the breakfast burrito here, and it was satisfying. The salsa it came with was good too. This definitely seems like a legit, authentic mexican spot(although the name and signage seem confused. golden ox sounds asian, and the signs advertise burgers). I’m not sure if I’ll be back this way, but if you’re close by, definitely give it a try!

I love pastrami. So when I find a place close by that touts how special their pastrami is and has good reviews, I’m probably gonna check them out. Well, Golden Ox was next on my hit list. Stopped by for lunch and it was pretty empty — nice! Parking wasn’t that great but I managed to find a spot a block away. Once I got there, I decided to order the pastrami burger with fries and a large iced tea. The burger was succulent with a combination of harmonious flavors. Gosh I love pastrami. The fries were average at best but that really didn’t matter to me. The pastrami was phenomenal. For a small joint in El Monte, it hit the spot. I’ll be back

This is the place that made me a pastrami lover for life. I used to come here all the time with my family. Of course, they serve so many other dishes, but we always only bought the pastramis and the quesadillas. The pastramis are so big, filling, and meaty. However, now that I’ve had other pastramis, they’re a little dry, However, the portion is so generous, you have to take it home for later. The pastrami only has pickles and mustard besides the meat. Their fries are thick, not the way I like them, but if that’s your cup of tea — by all means. It helps that they have Lowry’s salt though because that makes them really good actually, after all. Now, the quesadillas are super ginormous. They basically look like a huge burrito, but it’s delicious. It has tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream, cheese, and a whole lot of meat — we always got the carne asada quesadilla. This is great for when you’re starving, and are around the area, but I’ve tried other Golden Oxes, but this one is by far the best one. Minus one point for not being immaculately clean though. Sorry, but no one want to eat in a pig sty.

ok so here comes another pastrami thumbs up, so if your reading the reviews… what are you going to get? the the salad! no nerd… the pastrami! this is true deliciousness, with thick pastrami, hot and juicy! it just has a really good taste to it and is very big! Im in the military and when I come visit my parents, I take my father to This Golden Ox, we split a pastrami with cheese, two eggs, and mayo! straight up pig style!!! but we dont have this on a regular basis so its alright. just know that theres no restroom and have some money in your bank account because this food aint cheap, especially if your paying for more than 2 people!!!

The sign says«Charbroiled Burgers» followed by «Pastrami». The latter is what made me stop by and check it out, as I know this is not my type of burger joint(I like fresh meat burgers). Going through the drive through, I ordered the Pastrami sandwich combo with drink and fries togo. Cost was slightly under $ 10. When I got home, it was WOW, that’s a lot of meat. The roll of bread that sandwiched it, was very thin(about one centimeter). To me this is a plus as I do not like too much bread! First bite = Wonderful. The pastrami was thick cut(which I prefer) almost resembles bacon, complemented with mustard and pickles. I only ate half of the sandwich, as there is a lot of meat. Be aware the food is a bit greasy, but you should expect it! The oil from the thick cut fries soaks through the bag, again wonderful. They are not cheap on the fries either, as the fries bag was way overfilled into the togo bag. This isn’t the most healthiest food, however it’s a pastrami sandwich, so its not suppose to be! You’re not gonna complain about how there is sugar in donuts would you? Without sugar its just bread! Remember where and what you are eating. I really enjoyed this sandwich here, probably can only eat this once a month or so. Breakdown: 2 stars for the sandwich, 1 star for price, 1 star for thick cut, and 1 star for greasy to-go bag!!! =)

A quick n dirty review for a quick n tasty Breakfast Burro… A dreary, rainy day out in El Monte and the little one is way out in lala land in her car seat…5 mins later I spy this breakfast spot and it has a drive thru! Snag the Bacon Breakfast Burro($ 5.25) to go. Cut into this mini beast at home and its lookin’ all sortsa sexy. One bite and I swear the rain stopped, the clouds parted and the sun shone on my tortilla wrapped breakfast. Minimal eggs fried up just right, delicious crispy hash browns, the oh so gooey cheddar, crispy bacon awesomeness in every bite AND a little salsa kick! The perfect start to a previously, miserable, soggy, stormy Monday… OH Bacon Breakfast Burritos… is there anything they CAN’T do?

So this place is pretty basic just like any other burger joint out there. I only like this place because of the breakfast. Like Aubrey said, egg is egg and cheese is cheese. But what she forgot is, kids are kids. So I am sitting in this booth trying to eat my french toast special. This kid in the booth in back of me was breathing on my ear and chewing on a sausage. I didn’t say anything. I just ate faster to get out of there. What did the mom do? She just said, «mijo, portate bien». I was thinking to myself, you better whoop that boy. So my sensitive side said, kids are just kids. Although breakfast is good, kids in there can get annoying. And they do run around the place. What is wrong with parents these days?

Oh man this place rocks. Original free refill coffee and delicious breakfast for a low price. Cheese is cheese. Egg is egg. No gimmick. Not dirty. No nasty children running around bugging you like the McDonald’s. Bring a Sunday Times and I’m in heaven.
