What a great place. The atmosphere was quiet and the food was excellent. A nice little gem, Great place will be back for sure.

Talk about the worst place i have ever been too. Definitely not law enforcement friendly… We just left 5 minutes ago with friends in uniform and were poorly treated. Food was cold, dry, and so on. It is our first and last time. Im sorry but don’t recommend.

My Experience wasn’t all that great. I ordered chile con queso over hamburger steak with refried beans and a side of french fries. It sounded good but that wasn’t the case, it was actually far from it. The hamburger steak had no taste, all they did was was smothered the«steak» with green salsa and then cheese on top of that(they weren’t too generous with the cheese either). They could have put cheese on top of the beans because they were bland. The only flavors I did like was the house salsa that came with chips.

Gotta love this place between classes or breaks! Nothing fancy about it but damn does it hit the spot! This spot kind of reminds me of visiting my grandma’s house back in the day and their food is decent enough to be called Mexican(they use chile’s not tomato sauce = always a good sign). I mainly come here for a cold one after a long day or some chips and salsa along side with venting from a recent exam. Sadly or happily, depending on how you look at not having any more exams, I won’t be venting here much longer. The waiters are always attentive and it’s never really all that busy. Overall, this is a good place to go with no waiting, great service, and pretty decent Mexican food. I highly recommend going here after those tough tests ;-)

We have been coming here for years. The food is always good. The wait staff is very friendly and helpful. Most guests are regulars. Sometimes they get understaffed but then that is why God made margaritas. Will always come back when in town.

I ordered a Mexican plate which came with a cheese enchilada, cheese chile relleno, beef taco, rice and beans. Let’s just say that it was horrible. The food was literally cold. The cheese in the enchilada and chile were not even melted. The only thing that was hot was the actual plate it was served in. Everything tasted like it was pre-made and reheated. The only«decent» thing I ate was the salsa.

This isn’t a hole in the wall but close to one, I’ve been coming here since high school, over twenty years now. We would come to eat before track meets and the food is still great. The food is fresh and tasty, today I ordered the #3 and I got full. Came with a taco, enchilada, chile relleno and chile colorado. It was great, I’m not eating dinner because I’m still full!

I’ll put it to you this way, my lady’s mom, who is from Durango, MEX and is the most amazing Mexican cook ever, actually sang her praises for this place. It’s all tasty and truly Mexican. Queso fundido, chiles rellenos, enchiladas of all stripes… it is ALLGOOD, ARGUABLYTHEBEST. The shitty reviews above are from people who don’t know what they’re talking about. Complaining about wanting to charge $ 3? Get over your shitty self. Big cities either do not accept card purchases under $ 15 or are cash only because credit companies gouge businesses with surcharges. Complaining about chips being stuck together? An unfortunate consequence when YOUMAKECHIPSINHOUSEINSTEADOFPULLINGTHEMFROM A BAG. Complaining that the steak fajitas are not the best cuts? Eat a dick. This is Mexican steak, not New York strip steak. These people are the same people who shit themselves over Chico’s Tacos, a company known for using grade D meat and fake cheese. I love Chico’s as much as the next guy but it’s not Mexican and it does not compare to the goodness at Gonzalo’s(aka G&R’s).

They have my favorite chicken flautas in El Paso. The homemade salsa is delicious. Very spacious. Perfect for working lunches close to downtown.

A great neighborhood spot, in operation since 1960 and it has beautiful light inside. I can walk here, so it’s super convenient; otherwise, I think I would have given the food itself 3 stars per the other reviewers.

Service was fast, food and drinks were cheap, but the food had a pre-cooked/re-warmed quality

I came by for lunch on the suggestion of a friend. I go by this restaurant somewhat regularly and never noticed it. The menu was pretty extensive and required a bit of reading. Thank goodness I wasn’t hungover! For starters the salsa with the chips was pretty tasty. My meal was decent too; a standard Mexican meal I think. I enjoyed all of the #1, which was a beef taco, two cheese enchiladas, rice, and beans. The taco was my fave for sure.

El Paso has too much good food to explore in a lifetime. But when my family gathers in El Paso at my grandma’s house, we’ll order out here. I love their bean and cheese burritos — they must still make the refritos in lard, which is amazing. A good place to order out if you’re close.

Gonzalos G&R has been around for 40 years… maybe more, and I’ve been eating there since they occupied the smaller building next door. Unfortunately, I think the quality of their food has steadily declined for much of the last 10 years. The last time I went was almost a year ago, and I haven’t been back.

FYI, this place is also known and G&R, and the Nevada location is listed by Unilocal as being closed. This is untrue. The Nevada location has a charming décor and ambiance. I enjoyed my combination dinner, which included one each chicken enchilada, chile relleno, and soft taco. However, the chips were a combination of stale, greasy, and stuck together(I hate that). My partner ordered the steak fajitas and I have to say the steak was both a very cheap cut of meat and not fresh. It was very close to rancid tasting. It’s a sweet place and I want it to stay in business, but there are better choices in this city that is absolutely crawling with good Mexican food.
