Having ordered a pizza here before and delivered to the hotel the pizza is good. This trip the service is horrible. Sat down and waited 10 minutes with not one person coming to our table. Music is blaring so loud I count even hear my kids. A Mexican couple sits down and 30 seconds later the waitress brings them water and asks what they would like to drink. Racists I don’t know, lack of a good staff paying attention more likely. Either way, there is better food and far better service to be found within a 5 minute walk. Avoid this place if you can unless you’re staying in a hotel and ordering out.

Came here once, before a show… beer was warm, bad service and it was a bit pricy for beer. Gave it another chance. Came in to an empty restaurant, literally empty. One person serving and bartender. She was too busy being on her phone. Finally took our order. Dirty plates and silverware. Pizza tasted like frozen pizza. The spinach dip was pretty good… but please, don’t call this pizza Chicago style, it’s degrading to the real stuff. We asked for new plates, she didn’t bring new silverware so I had to eat my salad and pizza with a knife… lol! I tried to make it obvious to our server that I needed new silverware but she was too busy with her cell phone… no thanks, I’ll just microwave better pizza at home. The beer was colder this time around. It’s such a great location and maybe a change in management and cook would do the trick… not going back.

We heard good things about their pizza pies so my wife and I decided to try it. We got there at 5:05 cause we had a show at 7. Walked in and didn’t know if it was self serve or be seated. We sat down and finally a waitress came to the table and asked us would we like to order. No menu, nothing. Finally she brought us a menu. My wife and I decided to split a salad and enjoy one of the pizza pies which the waitress informed us that it would take 40 – 45 mins, that’s fine. After 30 mins I asked the waitress for our salad, she brought it to us and she told us it had 1000 island dressing, it was balsamic and I told her that wasn’t 1000 island, her response, «oh, they told me it was». We had to ask for silverware, she brought 1 fork had to ask for another one and napkins. So she brought us the correct dressing. It’s now 6 pm, ordered pizza at 5:15, every time we asked, her reply was«it should be coming.“We watched ppl come and go while we sat, only 4 ppl, really. Finally at 6:20 I go and ask for my bill. The girl apologizes and I ask another waitress if there was a manager on duty. He came out and told us most ppl order by phone, well, we only saw 1 pizza that looked like ours come out to a friend of mine who said no, they just ordered it. With that said, the manager gave us a coupon for 15% off, which we will give to our neighbor who recommended it to us. Unfortunately, I can’t say whether the pizza is good our not. All I can say is that the SERVICE is horrible.

Horrible service. The presentation of the food was awful. They just threw a piece of pizza on a small plate. We had to ask Senya our server for everything from water, napkins, utensils, refills. She was terrible and on her phone most of the time even though there was about 6 full tables. The place looked like a locker room. No ambiance at all. Never again

Wanted to eat here… Came in and it was open but we couldn’t find an employee to assist us, let alone put the game on. After several minutes we got up and left.

Place looks closed, walk in and none of the tv’s are even on. Not a single staff member was in sight. One table of people and that’s it

Do not go here! The bartender tried to sell us the deep dish pizza, said it takes 45 mins. We asked for the thin crust instead, which, he said will take only 10. Got simple veggie toppings. The pizza came an hour later and was the most pathetic pizza I’ve ever seen. Couldn’t see any toppings as it was smeared with a boat load of marinara sauce and it was a deep dish!!! The place smells terrible and is really loud to make any talk. Disappointing!

Place was good. Had their Chicago deep dish pizza and it was okay it hit the spot. Bartender was very friendly. Overall the feel was relaxed. Hardly anyone was there because it was the middle of the week. If im around town again i would come back

It has a great hip atmosphere and wonderful service. The pizza was great and a nice change from typical El Paso cuisine. They didn’t kick us out of the bar after it closed and they were generous when they mixed up our drink order. They had a great beer selection both on tap and in bottles. Both times we went out was pretty empty though which I didn’t understand. Despite being empty it still felt cramped with the tables placed too close and the music was too loud at times. I liked the place for what it was and being in El Paso, I’m just not sure how they could handle a larger crowd.

If you are looking for more than a cold beer and place to listen to loud music don’t waste your time here. Their deep dish pizza is terrible. The crust, which is supposed to be the star of a Chicago style deep dish pizza is flavorless. I had the Three Meats because it was recommended as their best. The meatballs were diced up and taste like plain ground beef. The sausage and pepperoni were ok. I have had authentic Deep Dish pies in Chicago and this doesn’t even compare. While the wait staff was friend and attentive, everything took way to long to be severed. I understand about having to wait for the pizza. But the wait for drinks and for the pathetic appetizers they serve was way too long. The bruschetta was a joke and so was the pepperoni bites. Like I said to start my review, don’t waste your time here.

Yes, and yes try the lunch special Chicago pies. Very delicious flaky crust by itself seasoned perfectly. Fresh ingredients for my vegetarian at Anyhony. Meat pie also delicious and filling. Refreshing cucumber sparrow drink with chile rim was a paired perfectly with my slice. Funky but not overwhelming décor. Will definitely return. Great service as well.

This place is amazing. Their deep dish pies are worth the wait. Of course, deep dish takes some time to bake(45 – 60 minutes) but that doesn’t bother me. I recommend the three meat deep dish. The price is fair for a deep dish. I eat a slice or two and I am full! They also offer hand tossed if you are in a rush. The service was great and the beer selection is abundant. Great place and will come again.

Don’t come here if your hungry. Because it may take a week before you get your food! Servers are friendly but not sure who’s back there cooking! We ordered about 40 minutes ago for a thin crust and still no food in sight! Bahhhhh

EThis review solely based on their club sandwiches. Upon entrance I thought the ambience of the place was nice and laid back. I give them props for having the Rat Pack ok on the wall. It was one of the things I first noticed. One of my friends told me they had filling sandwiches and that they were pretty thick. I decided to share a full sandwich with him. It took our order about 30 minutes. That was fine but if it took that long to make it, I was expecting to be delicious. I got the old Sparrow and it sounded because it had mayo with olive oil. I didn’t know that the bread of the sandwich was toasted, I was disappointed. It felt too messy having the crumbs falling. Next time if I ever come back is to try their pizza. I will definitely not try a sandwich from. I was disappointed and felt unsatisfied.

It took 1 hour to get bread with mushrooms and cheese and a Cesar salad. The waitress was very attentive but damn! How about hiring more kitchen staff!

Appetizers were pizza, stuffed pizza was amazing. I’ve been to Giordano’s outside of Chicago, and Sparrow’s reminded me so much of that great place. Pretty decent beer selection. Wait staff was great, allowed us to put the games we wanted to watch on the tv’s that we asked for. Will definitely come back here.

Well they have good beer on tap… But that’s where our good experience ended. After waiting over an hour after we ordered our food, we had to take it to go. We were charged the wrong amount and getting home realized the bottom of the pizza was burnt so bad(solid black) that it had to be thrown away.

Ok, so this is no Gino’s East pie or anything but it is definitely an excellent substitute. I loved the pies from Chi-Town so much that I would fly home with 2 or 3 frozen ones in my luggage to bring home! So when I saw this place offers the deep dish I was eager to see how it matched up. Well it does a pizza pie justice. I just missed the happy hour but their specials are awesome, so I’ll be back for sure. We ordered the cheese balls and I liked them, though I thought they could use a little more cheese. My accompanying diners were a little disappointed by them but I think it’s because they misread the menu and thought they were literally balls of fried cheese! hahaha, The pie did take a while but the waiter had commented, since its a true deep dish, it would take about 30 minutes to bake through. There was three of us and we ordered a medium three meat and it was absolutely delicious! Plenty of sauce, cheese and pepperoni, sausage and chunks of meatballs! We easily over ate and still had two slices to take home! The crust was flaky, crunchy, and soft all at once! These pies are so thick and rotund you almost have to eat it with a fork and knife(sorry NY pie lovers but it’s true!). Overall, great place, great location, great food! I highly recommend this spot!

My dad is always on the go so when he is in town we usually get together for dinner. Usually he leaves the destination up to me, which ends up being really good or really bad. He’s rather hard to impress, but once in a while I take him somewhere that leaves him in absolute awe. Sparrows is one of those places. I hadn’t been to Sparrows on South El Paso Street yet, but I’d been to the Eastside location so I knew what I was in for. Thank you, SSP for never forgetting to warn customers about the wait time for your phenom Chicago deep-dish pizza. It’s clearly written out in big, bold letters on the menu… but let’s be real, half the time people don’t read things in their entirety. A 35 – 45 minute wait is well worth what they serve up at SSP. And if you grab some appetizers, it passes much quicker. I usually build my own pizzas, but to make sure he got exactly what he was craving, I let my dad choose what pie we’d be eating. He landed on the Man Eater with no meatballs and double sausage. Double sausage is the way to go! Normally I despise sausage on pizza because it’s usually that crappy sausage that you get on an Egg McMuffin from McDonalds, but SSP uses legitimate sausage. I’m talking about the sausage that comes in huge links, the stuff that you want in gumbo. I could seriously eat an all sausage pizza from SSP! My dad ate three slices from this pizza and deeply considered continuing to eat because it was so damn good(but decided against eating himself to ooey, gooey, cheesy death). The ingredients used are 10 times better than what I expect from a pizza place with such a bar dive feel. What I’m about to write has not been confirmed by any employees or the owners, but I trust my palate and I swear to the Pizza Gods that SSP uses beer(although I can’t put my finger on which) in their deliciously, flaky crust. I could eat the crust on it’s own… why the hell don’t they make breadsticks??? My dad liked the pizza so much, he took the leftovers all for himself. No joke, I didn’t even get a slice for later. Service is great! Ambiance is perfect! Sparrows serves my absolute favorite pizza in El Paso! So glad there’s one so much closer to where I live! A must for anyone who lives in El Paso, has been to El Paso or has just heard of El Paso.
