Jack’s Urban Eats

I have been coming to Jacks urban eats for a while now and love the food, but sometimes the staff has a bit of an attitude. Today I went in and ordered a build your own salad, the gentleman who helped me was polite and made me a delicious salad, and the lady who helped me after was just so nice (Lo Lo/​Lauren) the only reason I am giving this place 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the most rude girl who my mom asked a simple question. If she could get a small salad for my little sister, the lady, long brown hair in a messy bun, was so rude rolled her eyes at my mom and was very upset when my mom asked if she could have cucumbers on it, because my sister doesn’t like tomatoes. Totally normal question and this lady was very upset about a simple question. Very upset about this l, really ruined my day, but I loved Lauren!!! Totally going back and asking for her, she is the best.

Like going here for the salad. Only issue is its expensive for a family of 4 $ 65.00 wow… for 2 salads, 2 kids mac n cheese and drinks. next time will only be Mom and Dad. Lol

Tried to decide between a 1star and 2 but only gave it a 2 cause of the tasty food. Twice now I’ve taken out food and had an issue. Twice now I’ve called them to let the management know but they always have a voice machine on and only take messages (but they never return the call).
Ordered a Tai Salmon Salad and a Build Your Own only to catch the to go server checking the Salmon salad at the last second finding the cooks forgot to put in the Salmon. When I got home I found a very skimpy salad and missing the rice noodles. NOT IMPRESSED!
The phone machine says they check messages twice a day at 2pm & 8pm. I called to talk to a manager on Saturday around 7:00pm and hoped to get a call back at least Monday but after not hearing from anyone by Wed around 2pm I drove there to talk to the manager.
WHAT AN ATTITUDE! Instead of being apologetic this manager seems to just want to defend the restaurant and tell me what I didn’t do. Even though I lived on the other side of town I should have driven back to take care of the issue then, not called and leave a message. Even though I left a message I should have gone back there on Monday and they would have taken care of my problem. I was told they are «too busy and high volume to be answering the phone» and this manager said «they only check the phone machine about once a month». Really customer oriented! NOT… When told him that my salad was very skimpy vs. my wifes he was extremely offended. He held up his hand and said very rudely «LET ME JUST STOP YOU THERE. We make all our salads the same way and the same amount.» NOT A FACT IF YOU EVER GO THERE AND WATCH THEM MAKE SALADS. THEY GRAB FROM HERE AND THERE AND EVERY TIME THEY REACH IN FOR LETTUCE OR AN ADDITIONAL ITEM IT’S A DIFFERENT AMOUNT IN THE LARGE BOWL THEY USE.
i definitely agree with a prior Unilocal except in my case the staff doesn’t need a major reality check but the Manager does.
He eventually asked what he could do for me after arguing with me and making it seem like JUE wasn’t the issue but it was all me. At that point I felt that the manger didn’t care one bit and just left and won’t be going back.
If you get any attitude just run and don’t look back. They seem to all have a bad attitude and it starts with management.

I order the same thing every time and it always comes out perfect! love everything here

Everytime we come, we always get a Cesar salad, a steak salad, and some urban fries.
The last 4 times I’ve been there I order the steak salad WITH THE MEAT WELL DONE and EVERY SINGLE time these last 4 times the crew doesn’t seem to understand what «well done» is. And every time I return it back to them the girls at the cashier as well as the ENTIRE CREW seem to love having an attitude. You’re getting paid to serve and please your customers. Not to roll your eyes and make the customer feel like they’re asking for too much. We’ve been going back because we love everything else but we might have to start going downtown just to avoid dealing with the bad attitudes of the staff.
The staff needs a major reality check by management. The attitudes are TRASH.
Thank you jacks for your horrible service and for making sure your guests feel like they CAN’T be accommodated.

Went here on a Wednesday at 2pm and it was packed! I can only imagine how busy it would be during the lunch hour so give yourself time if you plan to come here. They do not take phone orders neither so there’s no shortcut to getting your order in.
Service was average. They were extremely helpful but they messed up on our order twice. Our food didn’t come at once and the server didn’t know of this so we had to tell him. Second, our salad didnt have beets as it should so we had to send it back.
Aside from those minor details, the food was delicious. Chicken club was enough for two people and the chicken was juicy and specially tasty. The bacon was crispy and veggies were fresh. I would definitely order this again. I went with the mac and cheese and it was just ok, it was bland. With added flavor, this could easily be a hit but it was tasteless.
The urban fries were crispy and good. The cheese with the chili oil made this dish and it was a nice complement.
Lastly, the western BBQ salad was very good. It’s not the healthiest salad considering the fried onion strings that topped all that steak but nonetheless, very satisfying.
I would certainly pick this place over any other place in this plaza for a quick bite. I would just make sure that you give yourself ample time to place and wait for your order as it gets really busy.

I ordered the Club Sandwich and it was the most dissatisfying sandwich ever, and this is coming from a sandwich lover that doesn’t discriminate! I blame myself because I didn’t read that it’s served on a sourdough roll. Who serves it that way?! It’s not a club sandwich… the bread was far too thick, couldn’t taste anything but bread in every bite. Bacon was barely there and I felt like I was eating a crap sandwich from a hospital cafeteria. Woe is me. The Jack fries are good but not anything to write home about.

I have a pretty standard order whenever I get a chance to come here. A Caesar salad, regular mashed potatoes with gravy and there Urban Fries. If you’ve never had their urban fries then you’re missing out on something great! I’ve mixed up my order before and gotten sandwiches or other salads and have always liked it. So there is definitely something for everyone.

Pleasing 6 people at lunch is not an easy task, but Jack’s was a thumb’s up for us. We had salads, sandwiches and fries and none of us were disappointed. Service was good and we were all able to sit together at a table outside in the shade. The weather was perfect and the food was delicious.
Nice place to get together with friends. Just wish they would open one up in the Bay Area!

The food is great at this location as it is at all of the Jack’s in the area. This one doesn’t seem to be as crowded when I’ve gone which is a plus. I also enjoy the large outdoor dining area, even though it’s all up in the parking lot. My favorites include the steak salad and urban fries. This spot really hooks it up with bleu cheese in both dishes. Much appreciated!

If I could give zero stars I most certainly would ! I’ve been a loyal jacks customer for many years now and was super excited for jacks to open in my neighborhood ! Sadly this place is worst ever and it’s not getting any better .
I’m not sure if the people here care about listening to the customers but they need to be properly trained. When you tell them the dos and the Don’ts on you’re food it’s like they don’t fully listen ! My mom order a steak sandwich and her meat was raw ! Pink all the way! How gross to bite into a nasty sandwich ! I ordered a salad and asked for the dressing on the side and she didn’t listen to what I said. Who wants to eat a soggy salad? Our whole order was a complete wreck, what a waste of time and money ! I will no longer come to this establishment I’ll have to take my

yum, JUE is kind of a staple to me if I weren’t dieting haha. I mean you can also come here and get a salad but it’s cheaper to make your own salad at home.
The food here is typical American food: salads, sandwiches, and side dishes you would find at a BBQ.
I think the side dishes are super plain, I don’t recommend them at all. Always ask for your dressing on the side bc even if you say a little bit they drenched that salad up. The fries here are super oily too!
I like the fact that you just wait in line and order and they bring you the food. It’s simple and easy.

I walked into Jack’s expecting to order salmon after looking up their menu online but I changed my mind when I saw they had pulled pork as well!
It was def a great choice– the pulled pork was delicious, and the texture of each bite was perfect, thanks to the crispy onion strings and warm, fresh bread.
I ordered a small side of garlic fries too and they were really crisp, with a perfect balance of garlic throughout the fries filling up the generously-​sized takeout box.
It was my first time at Jack’s and since I had a hard time figuring out what I wanted to eat, I might try the tri-​tip or salmon next time. Highly recommend :)

We’ve only been here a few times and always during lunch, there is always a line and finding seats are tough. The food is great, fresh, and made to order. The place is kept pretty clean and the employees seem to hustle on getting your food to you and cleaning up the table before you.
This place is good for kids, but the larger your party, the harder it is to get a table. I’d say if you have a party greater than 4 people, you might as well find a seat outside.

I’ve been to other locations and they all are great. Their foods are good quality and never a disappointment. I ordered the steak salad and felt light and refreshed after eating it even though the portion was huge. My boyfriend ordered the cheese melt sandwich and it was perfect with oozing cheese. Of course, we never go without ordering their special fries they’re known for. Must get!

Got in here just a little after 4pm today and the place wasn’t too busy and the line was short. All the employees behind the order counter greeted the customers right away to take their orders. I ordered two steak salads, one with double the meat, and both without blue cheese. The total for the two salads came out to about $ 25.38. Not bad at all. After scanning out all the prepped food from the line, this place can be my go to lunch place. The food prices were very fair and everything looked really good. The tri tip was perfectly cooked to a medium. Everything on the salad worked well together. I kinda wished that I had just a little bit of blue cheese crumbles on my salad. I also could’ve used more greens and less red onions but I was hungry so the salad didn’t even make it home. I ate it at the parking lot. I would definitely come back and try other things on the menu.

Been here a few times already and I have been very impressed and satisfied. Each time my wife and I have been, I dread the crowds and can’t help but think we should go somewhere else until the popularity of Jack’s dies down like what happens to all new restaurants in Elk Grove, but we decide to go any way.
The line moves very quickly! Hats off to the staff for working their butts off to keep things fast and efficient. The next step is to dread waiting for the food to arrive once it is ordered, but again to my surprise the food comes out quickly.
And I don’t know what it is, but whatever they do to the diet coke is amazing. You know when you eat somewhere and you have a diet coke that is just different than other places? This is one of those times; they just have a perfect mixture of syrup and carbonation (you soda snobs know what I’m talking about).
At any rate! The food is tasty and the service is great!

The first thing absolutely worth mentioning is how delicious and tasty the Urban Fries are! Hands-​down best fries I’ve ever eaten in my life. Burst of flavors with every bite.
I got the Mediterranean Salmon as my entrée and was extremely disappointed. After I had ordered, the the cashier says «can I get 1 salmon on the grill!». Then I realize, there were a few pieces of salmon already pre-​cooked from I don’t know when that was sitting out on a cooling rack. That was the piece that I got. The piece of salmon was surprisingly cold, hard, dry, and overcooked. For my sides, I got mashed potatoes and broccoli. Mashed potatoes were okay, the broccoli was cold with stale cold cheese hardened on it. This dish may have been good, had the salmon been freshly grilled right then and there. However, this dish was a disappointment and subpar.
Service was not too good as well. The ordering process seemed rushed. We received no greeting or guidance from the staff, which can be confusing for our first time. Since it was my first time, I wasn’t sure to seat myself and order at the table, or order at the kitchen/​cashier area and then sit down. After watching others for a couple minutes, I realize I was supposed to get in line, order, and then receive a number and find a table. Signs would have been helpful.
Tip for 1^st-​timers: When you walk in, you get in line, order, grab your number, and then find yourself a table and then they bring your food out when ready.

I’m happy to report that I had a much more enjoyable experience on my most recent visit!
All of the employees were very nice, and I was not overlooked as a customer. It was remarkably less busy than it was on my first visit, however, so that could be an important factor. This time around, my salad tasted fresh and my croutons were not stale. I also think that the employee who made my salad gave me bigger portions. I’m not sure if it’s in my head, but my salad looked huge when she handed it to me. Oh! And I had my first taste of cucumber mint lemonade here; and I highly recommend it!
I can’t wait to return to see if I’ll be as satisfied as I am today. Then I’ll have no problems giving them a 5 star review. (:

Best bang for your buck!
The lunch rush is crazy here, but the lines move quick so don’t let that scare you!
They have menus everywhere so you can always grab another in case you change your mind on what you want to order while moving forward in line after seeing what other people around you order :)
It’s cafeteria style so sometimes when it’s crowded they’ll send people out to take your order first so it moves quickly. Their menu consists of sandwiches, salads, and meat plates.
This is a double review for two times that I’ve been here:
1: build your own salad.
I love this concept because you can make it just how you like. The portion size is RIDONK BIG. Expect yourself a good to-​go serving afterwards. They have a bunch of topping options (you get 6 for a byos) and you get a choice of meat: tri tip, chicken, turkey I believe? Their croutons are really good too! Cost was about $ 10
2: BBQ chicken sandwich.
Their sandwiches are made on homemade bread rolls. This one had a ciabatta roll with juicy grilled chicken, crispy onion strings, lettuce, tomato, a pickle, a banana pepper, and was covered in their tangy homemade BBQ sauce. Was that not convincing enough already? Haha. Nonetheless, it was a very satisfying sandwich. Half of it filled me up! For about $ 9, it was worth it.
The food here tastes super fresh and you don’t feel too much regret after eating it (healthy choices aren’t as bad if you take the extra bite). :)
