I stopped for dinner on my way through in the hopes that a hole in the wall place would provide a decent meal. We were among the first diners to show up and found the wait for service and food to be on the slow side. To add insult to injury, people who were seated 10 min after we were got their food before we did. Had the spaghetti with a mandarin chicken salad on the side. Both tasted ok, though the salad was drowning in dressing. The menu mentioned fresh parmesan cheese. I guess their definition of fresh is «straight out of a bag two days before the expiration date». The dinner rolls were nuked and awful.

This place 20 years ago was my favorite lunch spot. This is the first time that I have ever had dinner there and the dinner was excellent. The lights were out the bar was busy the restaurant was busy the food was excellent and we had a great time thank you so much

These people are really nice. The food is nothing special, but if you are in Elko and you would like a comfortable sit down meal with fine service in a friendly setting, Machi’s works. The dining area is separated from the bar enough to where it is not too noisy, at least early. The night we eat, there was a desert offering of a version of bread pudding made by the chef. Best thing we ate!

We stopped in early-ish on New Years Eve without a reservation and were able to be seated immediately. We had a few appetizers which were very good but then both ordered the braised lamb special which blew my mind. I still think about that dish a year later and for that Machi’s gets 5 stars. For that lamb dish. It was that good. Also: the service was great, the bar looked fun and I loved the local vibe.

So disappointing. Everything is frozen and way overpriced. Also, they were out of the 3 dishes that I wanted to order. I don’t understand the other reviews, they must be friends of the owner. Blahh

My favorite restaurant in the elko area! The staff is absolutely wonderful. The food is always very fresh and of the highest quality. The stuft pasta is divine, trust me you have to try it.

Passing through Elko this place was recommended by the small hotel we were at around the corner. Walked over for dinner and the outside looked like a typical small town bar. Inside looked the same so we thought«pub food». No way. What a menu! This is a full on dining restaurant. Our meals and service were both terrific. Highly recommended.

Waitress was great! Quickly sat. Ordered the Stuffed Pasta, my coworker had the chicken parm. Both were delicious. Where they failed is their bartender. We had paid and we’re going to use the restroom. I was stopped by the bartender and asked if I was a customer. I could tell by his tone he apparently didn’t like me there. I told him, politely, yes. He then had me point out where I was sat. This jackass then proceeded to tell me I looked identical to a «bum» he always kicks out. Top notch, Machis. See you again, never.

On our way to Elko reading the reviews, most all very positive. So we called, made a reservation. Arrived and were greeted by two very friendly people. Bar was packed and it was a Thursday at 5:45. Fast service, very attentive wait staff. Ordered two Gin Martini’s, they were perfect. Salads were fantastic, dressing so very good. Could have ordered another and made that the meal. Wife order prime rib on bone… They were out !! So she ordered the regular prime rib… Everyone reviewing spoke so positively about PR. I ordered the Thursday special, baby back ribs. The prime rib was tuff. Flavor also just good. Not as good as people seem to write. Wife said she has had PR many times many places. This PR was just OK. Not bad, but just OK. My ribs were not cooked to fall off the bone as one would expect. Dry and also tuff. I liked the chives, onion and cheese they put on but would prefer just ribs cooked correctly and more sauce actually on the ribs. They did give a cup as well but still not enough. We might go there again, but more likely on the next trip through, will try something else.

One of my favorite restaurants in Elko. If you are looking for a large dinner Machi’s Prime Rib is where it’s at! This dish is so large it’s hard to finish in one setting. They also have great lunch sandwiches and salads. Friendly atmosphere and great staff in a great downtown location.

This place was packed when I walked in and for good reason! Someone greeted me immediately, I took a seat at the bar and had the most delicious prime rib sandwich in front of me within seven minutes. This place was recommended to me by good friends of mine that live all the way in Winnemucca, NV. Anytime the drive-through Elko they always come here! The bartender was very nice and took good care of me! If you’re going to and fro Colorado California or Nevada you have to stop here!

We were passing through town and spending the night tonight, which led us to «where for dinner?» After turning to Unilocal, this place popped up and sparked our interest. Easy to find, good parking across the street, and the expected local friendly atmosphere when we walked in, including a welcoming greeting by at least two folks. Trying to eat a little better, we wanted to split a meal. The prime rib on the bone seemed like an appropriate meal to share. It was. First the house salad. Very tasty dressing, but a bit more dressing on the salad than I like. I liked the taste, but would ask for it on the side next time so I could do a little better portion control. The prime rib. We ordered it medium rare, and it was perfectly prepared and seasoned. Best I’ve had in a restaurant in years and years. So, the portion size… ever see the movie The Great Outdoors with John Candy? Yeah, about that size. It was phenomenal. I’m not exactly a small guy, and my wife loves prime rib on the bone. We had more than enough for both of us, and even though we are traveling, we had lots leftover for a couple French Dip style sandwiches tomorrow. I tried to remember our servers name, yet have already forgotten it. She gave great service, and our leftovers were packaged perfectly for us to toss in an ice chest. This place makes me want to come back to Elko again someday.

Machi’s was recommended to us by some locals we met in town. We ordered the veggies and sausage dinner to share. It was flavorful, and I appreciated that it wasn’t drenched in oil or butter. The sausage was legit, too. Service was excellent.

On a recent trip to Elko, Nv was looking for something different besides all the other places I have tried before… I phoned a friend and asked him what he would recommend and he easily said the prime rib here is equal to any high end steak house you can go to in any big city. Not much more you needed to tell me after that and the fact that it wasn’t Basque food(no offense people) just wasn’t in the mood for green beans, spaghetti and all the other stuff!!! Great atmosphere at Machi’s which you can tell is a locals favorite bar and restaurant… immediately as you walk in you feel right at home and the folks that work here treat you like family members. Once seated was not hard for me to decide what I wanted but almost changed my mind because it was rib night and they looked so good, but I still stuck to the prime and it was as my friend described one of the best pieces of meat I have ever had. The meat was cooked absolutely perfect and the outer crust flavor had so much great flavor I really could not get enough… I am not sure of the ounces this piece of meat was, but my guess would be 16−18oz and I had to stretch but just polished it off. I felt a little miserable after but it was well worth it… I don’t travel here very often but there selection of other delicious looking offerings looked fantastic.

Very cool place. The food is great. I had the baby back rib special and I tell you what, you won’t leave here hungry. The owner, John, is a great guy. Soft spoken, very cordial, and super helpful. The wait staff is very attentive, and so friendly. I get the sense that they are more of a team than most other places. Definitely check them out for a nice dinner and some drinks with the family or friends.

Most times when a local tells me about some fantastic steakhouse or restaurant, most times I am a little disappointed. And at the start of my evening there I really was disappointed. But let me get story! This place is known for it’s super large cuts of prime rib that you have to order a day in advance. I rarely get things like this because the cut is usually big, fatty and not that good. Plus I can’t eat it all anyway and feel horribly guilty wasting food. But I relented since it would be the one meal the whole group would eat together.(another thing I avoid, i mean I work with the greatest bunch ever, but after seeing them all day I really don’t want to see them at night too…) I was first to arrive and had a very favorable first impression, small but clean with a nice looking bar. Now I love a good cocktail or beer to start a meal, so I went to the bar and ordered a manhattan. I have to say it was probably the worst manhattan I have ever gotten in a bar. And that includes applebees. If I could give this place any suggestions is watch small screen network or read morganthalors bar book. utterly undrinkable. So I was really regretting my decision to come there when the rest of the group popped in. The dining area was small, but very nice. And after a few minutes out came my gigantic prime rib. I was very surprised! A really good cut of meat and actually cooked perfectly. the outside crust NOT overseasoned, and each bite was heavenly. the sides were prepared equally as well. The memory of my terrible manhattan was swallowed up by a carnivores fantasy meal and strawberry lemonade. I would have loved to try a dessert but alas, no room in my tummy for that. by a longshot. But the next day at lunch the remainder of my prime rib made for an excellent lunch. In summation the FOODWASGREAT. Bar. not so great. Wonderful décor, wonderful service. One of the better places to eat when you want a great meal in Elko! It did get crowded so reservations may be needed, especially for large parties.

Locals bar for sure. They leaned in the direction of the regulars, I got the feeling they let the«Star Hotel» do the tourist big night out thing and they have a more local focus. I’ve never been in a bar that reminded me more of Cheers. Unique chicken parm. I ate the whole dang thing! Salad dressing is gooooooood. Liked the chorizo app. I was expecting some hot cooked chorizo on a plate with bread. Nah it was some cold cut chorizo, cool and unexpected. When i was in, 80’s music on the speakers. Normally this isn’t a good thing. But this time it just worked. HUGE Giants fans. Lots of swag all over the place. I’m pretty sure they wont treat any Dodger fan bad… but it is nice to feel at home even though I am so far away. I think I need to get back down there during a game and enjoy a nice dinner and drinks. Manhattan is well made. Get it up.

This is our second visit in two years. A great meal, lively establishment and super friendly staff. Over two years, our experience has been consistent. We look forward to returning again. Fried chick peas and carrot cake are not to missed!
