Would someone please tell your summer bimbos what a proper Sundae is? I asked for one and got a deer in the headlights look after saying I didn’t want sprinkles, gummy bears and other weird toppings. Finally I was handed a large cone of vanilla custard with some strawberry debris in it! Dear Rita, where do you stash the drugs behind the counter? I know you know that a Sundae is a dish of ice cream, usually vanilla, with a gooey topping and maybe some whipped cream and a cherry! EARTH to RITA!

First time trying it, referred by a friend. I tried the Alex’s Lemonade Italian Ice. It was pretty good until I found a nail clipping in it. Threw it away without even finishing half. No thanks.

Rita’s is lovely. This one is no exception. Get the peach ice cream and the orange ice.

If it’s summer, you gotta go to Rita’s. The lines can be long but it’s worth it. Fave concoction is blendini with chocolate custard, wild black cherry ice and Reese’s cup blended in. Don’t judge. Just try it and you can sing my praises later.

We love Rita’s on a hot day –they have a flavor of Italian Ice, or custard for everyone! I just wish they had more seating. I prefer their blendinis to anything else.

There’s not much that you can say about Rita’s other than it is the best refreshment that you can have on a hot day in Ellicott City. It seems like I go there once a week without fail – usually on the weekends and many times after coming from a soccer game on a Saturday afternoon. My favorite italian ice flavors there are Florida Orange and Blue Raspberry. When I want something slightly more filling, I usually get a Gelati with vanilla custard. Writing about it is making me want to go there, especially since it’s 102 degrees outside right now.

Simply put — Rita’s is awesome. Seeing as how I visited Baltimore during the crazy heat wave, nothing was better than getting some Rita’s to cool off. You have the option of getting something light and refreshing(their Italian ice) or something slightly more filling with their custard. My personal favorite is their Gelati — custard on the bottom, Italian ice in the middle, and a bit more custard on the top. I got a Gelati with vanilla custard and Key Lime ice — soo delicious. The flavors change occasionally, so be sure to try different flavors each time you go. Being from Texas, I always look forward to getting Rita’s when I come up to Baltimore to visit my sister. Little did I know they actually have a few locations around DFW… a bit of a trek, but at least I know I have the option closer than I thought!
