I gotta admit their pizza taste really good and a lot of places does not make it as good. They also make the the crust very thin and nice. The only problem i have is that the two ladies working there are sometimes not too friendly and talk a lot of crap about other people.

The pie here is decent old style New York pizza. Ignore the reviews that talk about how nasty the service is. it’s not an issue. Mind your own business and don’t be expecting an invitation to their rental cottage on the shore and there will be no trouble. Yes, the two women that run the place have bitchy resting faces, but the pie is good. It’s not the best, but it’s really good like it used to be everywhere in the old days. $ 3 a slice, which is a little steep for Queens, but what the hay.

EXTREMELYNASTYWOMENWORKINGINTHEFRONT! Didn’t even get to try the pizza because I walked out due to the sheer rudeness of the women to my husband for no blatant reason. I could care less how the pizza is to be honest. The attitude was enough!

It was okay/good. Crust was a bit crunchy on the bottom. I would like it more crunchy though. Good enough if you’re craving cheap pizza on a random day. The lady(who was the owner) was very nice and friendly and wonderful. I forget, but I believe they changed their name.

Everything tastes good in this old school pizza house! The flavor is truly italian. There are two old ladies who make the pizza, treat them nice! The one who take the orders could be a little off at times. They will make you wait because this place is busy but the food is worth waiting for. They make the pie infront of you. Their pizza pie may cost you $ 15 – 18, slices for $ 3. This place need no recommendation because this is one famous pizza house in New York and not just in Queens. People drive to get some piece of thier flavor here even the NFL. They have been featured on the 2015 Super Bowl ad. Five star for the food!

Best pizza in Queens, best pizza in the city. Great local gem that has been here for decades. The workers are usually friendly and quick in making the pizza. Nicely laid out interior with an older feeling to it. The pizza is amazing. It’s a nice thin crust which is also flavored and delicious to eat. The pizza sauce and amount of cheese is a the perfect combination to make their slices so great.

Pizza is different, the crust is crispy but the sauce is not your usual pizza sauce. It is not bad, again it is different. I heard the owners are not Italians but they do have a following. For the size and the ingredients they put on the pizza, their slices are WAY overpriced. Even the sicilian slice is the smallest in the neighborhood, but good. Their rolls are good as well but you get half what you would get from Rosa’s or Elmhurst Pizza. Gino’s give you small sized slices and rolls too. The 1 star is for the attitude. They have not been nasty to me but I have heard the younger woman nasty with many customers over time. If she does not like dealing with people in the neighborhood, then don’t and GETOUT. I have heard them talk about the asians in the neighborhood and how nasty they get with them. I am writing this only because of a recent incident I witnessed. I will not come back here again. Time that these guys leave the neighborhood because no pizza is worth this type of behavior

Absolutely delicious pizza but horrible attitudes and customer service on the part of the co-owners. That’s why it gets 3 stars.

This place is pathetic. The co-owners are by far the worst people who run a food joint. They both have a nasty attitude and a permanent bitch face on, and are pretty unwelcoming. They also open whenever they want — don’t bother looking at their hours online. I have gone a week passing by the place everyday and not seeing them open once. My dad claims he’s seen one of the owners walk up to the shop to open up, but instead just walked away and walked back home. Their food is average, I don’t see anything special about it. It is true that they’re only still in business because there are no pizzerias nearby(closest one that comes to mind is the one next to I.S. 73 in Maspeth). Don’t ask for garlic knots(they probably don’t have anymore), avoid at all costs(unless you’re desperate for a meager beverage selection and cold pizza served from a witch).

Love the thin crust pizza. Not too much on the menu. They close for the month of august.

This place is nothing but classic to me. I’ve grown up eating at this establishment since the mid 80s and nothing about it has changed. This is definitely a good thing. No grits or glitters, everything you want from a traditional pizza shop is here. It might be overpriced compared to other shops, but sometimes those extra nickels and dimes are worth it in my view. There is always something about plain pizza from this place that makes me smile. This is my version of New York and why John’s Pizzeria is apart of me.

I’ve ordered from here throughout the years, but not anymore. I’ve realized that I don’t need to deal with nasty attitudes from the co-owners(?) while eating pizza that’s overpriced & tiny in comparison to majority of other pizzerias. This is the closest pizzeria near me, but now I stay far away from this place. Save your money and just go to Maspeth for better quality pizza & service. This establishment doesn’t even deserve 1 star. I’ve never been greeted in all the years I’ve ordered from here, nor felt at ease or welcomed. The mother & daughter who own/work here are mean & don’t know anything about providing good pizza or service. The only reason this establishment is in business is because it is a good location without much competition.

Great pizza if you like traditional thin crunchy New York style pizza the way pizza should be! Sicilian is crunchy yet doughy with the perfect amount of sauce and cheese. The only downfall for this place is that they open late. If you want to grab pizza on your lunch hour it’s not possible since they open at noon and pizzas aren’t made they have to still make them once the doors open. If they opened earlier this would be my go to pizzeria for lunch.

I have always enjoyed the pizza here. The crust is so thin and crispy, it’s great. Unfortunately, the lady behind the counter is not so great. Every time I go in with my daughter, she is always complaining about something and she is always so angry. She is rude and today I witnessed her verbal comments about a group of young Hispanic kids that wanted to use the bathroom. Though they were a little rude, she took it too far. She is a racist and bigot and I will never eat their again. She did not appreciate their behavior, but her behavior was far worse. Too bad.

Here’s the secret: Don’t bring it home. You must, absolutely must it eat it by the slice in the pizzeria itself. I don’t know why, but that’s the only way their crust stays light and crisp and perfect. So perfect that after years of so much searching, I really do think they make the best slice in the city. But once you take a pie home, depending on how far away home is, the dough becomes tough and chewy, whether re-heated in an oven, microwave, or eaten as is. So don’t do that ;) Other things to keep in mind, they sometimes close early if they’re having a slow night so call before dropping in. And skip the mushroom slice as they don’t use fresh mushrooms.

Family owned and operated, creating delicious classic thin crust pizzas and rolls made fresh everyday! I think these guys have been around for over 40 years. I come here for a sausage or chicken roll all the time, at least once a week to satisfy that craving. when they’re not sold out of it anyway. I have to admit there’s not much variety here, but keeping it simple brings out the flavor and quality in everything else. This is not your average mexican made pizza with chewy dough and cheese that just slides off. oh no sir! They know how the sauce should be made and they know pizza dough like nobody’s business. The nostalgia factor in this place is through the roof! with those 70’s 80’s style seats and lampshades. I remember when I came here as a kid after-school, spinning on the bar-style stools and I’d see Old man John in the corner with his pipe. Sometimes I’d buy a couple slices and freeze what I can’t eat. it’s just that good, a couple minutes on a skillet and the oils from the crust just re-crisps that crust as if it came right out the oven, no need for extra oil on that pan. *For the people that complain about not being able to use the bathroom, the NYC rule is that if you have less than a certain amount of seats, I think 19? You don’t have to provide bathrooms to the customer. That being said, I also used to work at a small restaurant that didn’t have bathrooms for customers and it’s because we kept a lot of dangerous cleaning supplies in there that would NOT be suitable for children or people with asthma or something. The place is small with not enough storage, give’ em a break. There’s a crappy diner a block away if you really need to go. Best thin crust, if not overall pizza in Queens, hands down… gimme some of that tomato sauce warmed up in a cup and I can chug it down all day. If you don’t know thin crust and maybe disappointed that it doesn’t taste like YOUR neighborhood pizza, I think you need to step back and re-examine what a real pizza should taste like. oh don’t get me started on the sicilian or this review will be another page long.

It’s close, a block away and down the corner. But I still don’t meander here, unless I’m taking a walk with my neighbor to get it. The service is great, a real«ma and pop» type of shop, always see the same two women, I believe a mother/daughter, working there, which is sweet, I appreciate the fact that these establishments still exist. And they are always exchanging small talk with customers, which is why I feel they have lasted this long– they created a strong loyal base. It’s a small place, I imagine it’s best for takeout or on the go, since a few booth/tables, and some stools at the counter. Oh, one thing to add, they close the entire month of August, so if you are craving John’s, get it before they close up shop for their vacation. Let’s see, they do deliver, which is a plus. But as for the pizza, it’s not a reflection on them per se, but just my personal tastes when it comes to pizza. It’s a thinner crust than most, almost like a flat bread, since there really isn’t any noticeable crust formation. Not a lot of sauce, not a lot of cheese, so overall, I’d classify this as a really simple slice. Would I eat it if it were served at a party? Sure. But would I get it on my own accord, naaah.

Soy vecina de Johns pizzeria por muchos anos, la misma que es atendida por sus duenas con un horario al publico de Martes a Domingo. Precios razonables, buena atencion, muy atentas y cuidadosas en los detalles .

This place was way better than I expected. The small interior is actually kinda cool, as the owners are apparently tukish and they have interesting decorations around from the structure around the oven to the walls, and I also like the bar setup along the counter. Two nice old ladies run this place as other have noted, which is refreshing as there aren’t many pizza ladies in the city. They don’t talk much, they just pay attention to what they’re doing and take your money at the end. The pizza was somewhat suimiliar to Johnny’s in Mount Vernon. Similiar thin, crispy, yet soft, flavorful crust, although not as much depth. Very similiar cheese although a bit more on this pie. A bit weaker sauce, and its applied more conservatively too. Hell, the slice is even smaller. But like, Johnny’s, the whole thing balances beautifully, although a bit on the cheesy side, and it’s clearly made by someone who cares about what they’re serving regardless of what they’re being paid. This is a unique slice, and I would definitely encourage people to come out of their way to try it. For the price especially, this place is hard to beat and it is one of the better stereotypical«slice joints» I’ve come across. I didn’t expect much out of it at first glance, but I’d say it lived up to the hype. Definitely one of the best in Queens.

I’ve been in this neighborhood for a good 20 plus years and the locals around Grand ave continue to glorify this pizzeria as if it’s New York’s best pizza. They have a sign that say’s they have the best Sicilian in town, but honestly, how many pizzeria’s have the same advertisement? It’s a little cheesy. Food — The pizza here is okay, it ain’t great. The crust is super thin, very little sauce and cheese. Their chicken and sausage rolls don’t taste very fresh. There’s really not much of a variety here. I get the constant feeling they’re being very stingy with their ingredients and napkins. Service — The service here is fine, it’s never too busy to the point where you have to wait forever for your slice. The staff here can be oddly strange sometimes, on some days they can be very friendly and some days they’re just grouchy as hell. The interior is very old school, it hasn’t changed at all. It looks like it’s from the 70’s which is cool. I remember way back in the day, the old gentlemen who I assume is «John» use to smoke his pipe in the pizzeria. The reason I go back every now and then is because it brings back old memories. I came here just about every week when I was attending the elementary school P. S.102. The lady at the counter use to slice my pizza in 8 pieces.

Awesome slice. Perfect ratio of sauce to cheese. Doesn’t drip with grase when I’m grabbing a slice on the go. AND a crispy, delicious crust that I DAREYOU to throw away. My favorite pizza joint in Elmhurst. Thanks Jeff O!
