My husband and I went here after he got a terrible massage at a *very* local massage facility. This may not have helped his neck and back but he loved the Caspian. I created a build-your-own and I am enjoying the amazing leftovers right now. We came in around 3pm and had a wonderful woman help us with our order. She made sure everything was perfect and gave us generous toppings. What a great first visit! Thank you.

Hubby and I had not tried any of the new«made to order» pizza places as of last week. First we went to Pie Five. We thought it was good, not great. The place was clean, food was good, and the staff were helpful and attentive. NOW, Tonight we went to MOD Pizza. Holy cow! This place blew away Pie Five. The atmosphere was really upbeat, lots of friendly staff behind the counter that were extremely helpful and loaded up our pizzas, and the price was really reasonable for the size of the pizza and that you can get unlimited toppings! MOD has my favorite thing, alcohol! I’m not really a beer girl, but they had a cider ale that was yummy! The pizza was way better than I expected and much better than pie five, even though I did like their pizza before I had MOD. The crust was nice, thin and crispy and the toppings, cheese and sauce were fabulous. We also had an order of their crispy breadsticks which were really good dipped in their ranch and other sauces. Both of us brought home more than half of our pizza. The total bill was $ 29.50. Dinner for 2 with an alcohol beverage and enough leftover for another meal… YES! Everything was easy to find so you didn’t have to run around to find somebody to get you a take home box. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend MOD pizza! Thanks!

My first few visits were all five stars — clean, hip, creative and friendly staff, and I love the setup of this biz — it’s like subway for pizza. The food is good when the do it right. My enthusiasm is fading through. The last several visits, I’ve not found a clean table, despite almost all tables being empty and the staff seemingly not busy. And the last two orders the pizza crust was burned black on about half of the pizza. I haven’t totally written them off but they’re no longer my first choice — this town has too many options for pizza to gamble on the quality experience.

So many toppings to choose from and such a good taste once it’s done. Crust is light and remains crispy even after you put 10 toppings. Better price, taste and quality than pie five.

Very reasonable price. Relatively quick and friendly service. Counter ordering. Lots of toppings to choose from. Preselected options and make your own are the same price. Delicious tea and lemonade station. Also wine and beer selection.

Build your own pizza isn’t new to Chicago but has gained more attention recently. I’ve only been to Mod and Pie five for these kind chains. Pie five basically lost me simple because the pizza kept coming up cold. Mod Pizza won because it was DONE! Best pizza? No Better than $ 10 chain pizza? Yeah Pro’s unlimited toppings Con’s family of 3 + can get pricey quick Staff seem way friendlier and cooler then Pie five that looked bored out of their mind. Elmhurst Student came in trying to sell candy for basketball outfits. Three of the employees bought candy and didn’t kick the kids out despite them not buying anything. They have a large beautiful mural on the wall when you walk in showing support for the Elmhurst community.

I was honestly surprised to see this place had an average of 4.5 stars. I will say, before I get into the negative comments, my husband enjoyed his ‘make your own’ pizza. I, however, was not impressed. I ordered the salad pizza and 2 major things were wrong: The lettuce was not fresh, similar to bag lettuce. Also, I found a bizarre hair in my salad, which ultimately killed my appetite. The atmosphere was also disappointing. The table we sat at was dirty, which I could empathize if the restaurant was packed, but it wasn’t. Instead of taking care of the restaurant, employees were on their cell phones and could seemingly care less about the customers. I will never go back.

This place is ok. I like Pie 5 better though. The service was pretty slow. It took me at least 20 – 25 mins to get my appetizer. I finished eating and was ready to leave by the time it came out. My pizza was good but so small, my fault for ordering the mini.

The pizza was so delicious, tasted gourmet! So many choices of toppings and the staff were so helpful! The ingredients are unlimited, and fresh and healthy. Next time I may ask for extra ingredients. I got the seasonal pizza Kasey, easy bacon. So good! The seating is less than optimal as most of the seats are by the door or under the fan vents.

With a previous bad review I made about unfortunate stomach issues, two very kind MOD team members contacted me with apologies and I gave them another try! I had a build your own veggie with arugula and pesto at the end and it was wonderful. I’ll definitely be stopping in here again on my lunch breaks. I respect the employees for reaching out as well, they really do care about their customers!

the pizza was pretty good and the meal was well priced. will definitely be going back due to being well versed in gluten free and the staff was prepared to accommodate my wife’s intolerance. I don’t think they can accommodate celiac as they use the same oven for all the pizzas. They are definitely good competition to pie 5

Nice place but I found it less appealing than other build your own(BYO) pizza chains. What I liked: — located next to Panera Bread and offers ample parking — mini pizzas or salads are offered which is great for kids or a half salad/small pizza type of day — there are several specialty pizza options of you prefer to go with the flow — the staff members are bubbly — Boylan sodas, beer, wine and shakes are offered — gluten free crust available for $ 2 more — salad can be prepared on pizza crust Least desirable aspects: — there is only one type of crust(artisan); other places have wheat. — one type of traditional pizza sauce/marinara — doesn’t taste as good as Pie Five or Blaze

So, we’ve been to three of these«make your own pizza places»…U-Build It, Block Pizza, And Mod 5. And I think Mod 5 by far, has the best crust! It is just right! Pizza must have a perfect crust in order to be great. It’s not soggy, too think, or undercooked. However, I must say that I am disappointed in the protein options… the only thing that’s not pork is chicken. Otherwise, they have about 5 pork options(sausage, pepperoni, etc). That’s why, I gave it only 4 stars. Other places have beef, or beef pepperoni for non-pork eaters. Otherwise, the staff is super friendly and organized.

Our daughter is 12 and rode her bike and paid for her own pizza 3 times before she MADE us come as a family. I was REALLY skeptical about another pizza place in Elmhurst(and I’m not a fan of chains). This is very different… and it doesn’t at all replace my beloved Mama’s. We each designed our own brick-oven pizza. As a mom, this pizza made my soul happy. I had spinach and roasted garlic and tomatoes and feta cheese… it was light and AMAZING. I completely forgot what it was like to have exactly what I wanted on a pizza. For so many years, I’ve been eating whatever everyone else wanted. It was delightful. I savored every single bite. We will be back.(Did I mention that they recycle?! and the workers like their jobs?!)

We decided to try Mod out based on the recommendation from a co-worker. I ordered on-line, and my pies were being boxed as I arrived. Pluses: Thin crust, lots of choices for ingredients, ready on-time. Downside: They confused my ingredients, switching Green Pepper for the Roasted Garlic we requested. Cooked GP gives me heartburn, and without the garlic, it was kind of tasteless. Also, they aren’t very generous with the ingredients — I got 3 little rings of red onion on an 11″ pizza. I’m happy to give second chances, but they’re 5 miles from home, and it’s not worth the trip.

My pal Nick, who ate here three times the week it opened, recommended this place. If you’re familiar with Chipotle, and I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t be, you’ll be comfortable at MOD Pizza. You decide on the size pizza and just work your way down the line telling them what ingredients to add. And, the distinctive advantage over other pizza joints is that you don’t pay extra by ingredient. Everything is a flat price. Add as much or as little as you want. We had two individual 6″ pizzas, a deluxe salad(to split) and a drink for $ 21. I recommend spicy sausage, jalapeños, and a hearty dose of Sriracha. You know what they say, «some like it hot.» Can’t wait to see how pie five measures up. While completion is good, right across the street, that’s tough. Let’s hope they both have enough customers to stay in business. More choices for us! As of this writing there are ninety-six restaurants in Elmhurst. I plan on eating at, and reviewing, every one. Really great place for fresh pizza, you can create your own and its ready in a few min. Prices are reasonable! Must try the salad pizza, perfect for a light lunch, and everything is fresh, you can create your own salad on top of the pizza crust!

Arrived for the opening too early and the girl asked me inside and gave me an ice tea, she was great to talk with and told me the history of the store. I ordered the buffalo chicken pizza and was very surprised at how good it was. I will vouch that this is NOT your average fast food joint. Everything is fresh and made to order with unlimited toppings at a reasonable cost. pizza 11″. 7.87 with unlimited toppings Mini pizza 6″ 4.87 Double crust 10.00 Salad one size unlimited toppings 7.87 Draft beer, wine, milkshakes, floats and fountain drinks Their promise — love the pizza you ordered or they will make you a new one for free!!!

It’s odd. I loved their pizza from the time I was in Houston, TX in March, 2015. And I loved it up until about 3 – 4 months ago after moving to Chicago. Since then, their pizza’s seems undercooked, or maybe they are now using different cheese. Not sure what it is, but the last two times, from two different Mod locations(in Chicago), my pizza came tasting like it was undercooked(luke warm). AND the cheese wasn’t the low moisture stringy kind like the way it was before(could be due to being undercooked). So I stopped going. But I will try one more time before I stop completely though. If the great pizza taste comes back, I will update this review. Previous review: Mod pizza is great. Love the thin crust and all I can choose toppings. I go out of my way to get pizza here.
