OVERPRICED! terrible plating, nice waitress

One of our favorite restaurants in the Englewood area.
I’ve had several group events here.
They also host charity events and have wonderful entertainment several times a week.
Great outdoor renovated patio and beautiful gardens overlooking water.

My husband and I had a very nice dinner here. Fantastic drinks that weren’t overpriced. Dinner was good (scallops/​fish combo), though coconut shrimp appetizer was very overpriced for only 4. Pretty quick services for as busy as they were but got the feeling it was a little «production-​line» of an atmosphere instead of made-​to-​order. We’d go back but lots of other places to check out in the area.

Love Farlow’s, great food, great service and with the new renovation — the best ambiance too. People working there look like they enjoy working there — with genuine smiles! Thanks Keith and Laurie for everything you do for Englewood and our community too!

Definitely a place to eat (and call ahead to get on their waiting list-​no reservations). Place was packed on a Tuesday night at 7pm (I thought all the Florida folks were in bed by then). We called an hour ahead as advised but will had a 20 min wait. The wait was not bad as we got a table out by the water and picked up drinks along the way. Very relaxing.
Although packed, the service was excellent and quick. We had the fried green tomatoes, calamari and coconut shrimp as appetizers. All were definitely prepared in-​house and were excellent. Everyone’s fish came out perfect, you cant go wrong ordering anything on the menu.

Stopped at this place on our way back from the beach scene in Englewood. The atmosphere is top notch although «on the water» is not really accurate. They have a great big patio where my husband and I sat for a late lunch. Our server was attentive and friendly and the drinks were delicious. My husband had the frozen mango daiquiri and I had the white sangria. We ordered a crab sandwich, some wings and New England clam chowder. The sandwich was great! Crab salad was flavorful and fresh. The wings however were subpar. I asked for them «mild» flavor and when they came out I questioned if there was even sauce on them. They tasted very bland. But I asked for some hot buffalo sauce and just added it to them. Having been born and raised in New England I should know better than to order NE clam chowder in Florida. The flavor was good but it was way too watery and had barely anything in it. I guess I’m spoiled at home! Overall just an ok experience.

We’ve lived in Englewood for years and just yesterday went to Farlows for the first time.
Good food. Well cooked and prepared. Very good service. Maria was an excellent waitress.
Nice décor and location.
Atmosphere was very noisy and crowded. Seemed to be a lot of people making too much noise.

Had a great lunch at Farlow’s.The fish was perfectly cooked and the macadamia nut chicken salad a delight. My only quibble was that the chocolate pecan pie came out cold with ice cream that made it colder. A warm pie with that ice cream would have been perfect. Looking forward to trying dinner soon!
We went back for dinner with friends expecting a great meal but it was not to be. The apps were fine, escargot and conch fritters, but the entrees were disappointing. The fish was overlooked and dry. Buck island snapper and grouper Oscar especially. We chose not to have dessert. Overall, for a $ 90+ per couple meal I expected better.

Wowza! Amazing! Loved the atmosphere. …there was a large patio to order drinks and apps while waiting for a table. Live music. The food was excellent…3 companions had steak… I had grouper oscar

This place started off very nice! The service is great. The bread, the salad and clam chowder is fabulous! The outside patio is very cute especially while sipping on a passion colada.
We ordered from the early bird special which is from 330 to 530. We ordered a steak and a fish with salsa. It was described quite fancy in the menu. It came out and we tasted it and it was bland and boring! Muy aburrido en espanol.
Wish it could have been better. Maybe the $ 30 to $ 40 plates are tasty. These were not!

We visited Farlow’s on a Tuesday night and they were very crowded. The wait wasn’t too bad as we were able to get drinks from the bar and even appetizers that we could eat by the water. The atmosphere was wonderful and my daughter loved looking at the fish near the underwater lights. Our waiter was accommodating and the food was wonderful. Everyone was very pleased with their food selection. We will be back next time we are in town!

Call ahead seating. Use texts to let you know when table is ready. Out of corn pudding which they are known for. Seafood was excellent. Good service. Located on the water. Long lines, so be sure to call ahead.

A very mixed experience. We were there during lunch rush on Saturday with a new waitress.
We ate in the heated porch area outside. Beautiful Caribbean music and atmosphere. It seems like it went to waste with what happened next.
Our entire section was waiting forever to get our orders taken (about 6 tables)… A lot of us were waiting a long time to even get our drink orders in. When we finally had our orders taken and the food started arriving, we were the very last ones to get served (even though we were one of the first to get our orders in). A very big disappointment for first impressions.
Now the mixed part… the food was quite good. Unfortunately, I was so annoyed about the entire ordering and serving process that I wasn’t able to enjoy the full experience. The manager came by to check on all of us after lunch. Each and every table in our area complained about the service. Hope they got the message.
Won’t recommend this to my family down here.

Always on our list. Beautiful outdoor patio food is always fresh and well prepared. Drinks are fun and taste great. We had the hogfish with raspberries and peach and cherry salad. The wait staff is friendly and eager to help.

This is my first time here. The atmosphere is fantastic. We got a drink from the outside bar and waited along the water.
Food Highlights: clam chowder was very good. The salad was nice. My father-​in-​law and I had the Peter Island Scallops with the baked sweet potato! Ah my, very rich and so so good. I highly recommend both. I also had the cauliflower which had an excellent taste. My wife had the Hogfish and she loved it. She rarely eats fish and ventured out and was extremely pleased.
Our waitress, Holly, did a superb job.
Our only dilemma was that the items on the menu looked so good that it was difficult to choose. Great job Farlows. We’ll be back when we come to visit again.

Great experience! We had lunch here for the first time yesterday, and we loved the place. Not only was the food delicious and fresh, their prices are very reasonable — especially for seafood. If you like clam chowder, don’t leave without trying it here. Yum! My husband loved the crab salad sandwich, and my seafood assortment (forgot what it was called on the menu) was very good. I’m looking forward to trying their seafood crepes. Unfortunately, by the time we got there for a very late lunch, they were sold out of that. People were raving about it!
The view of the water was beautiful, and the servers and staff were very nice and helpful! I highly recommend this place for delicious food and a fun atmosphere.

Our favourite restaurant in Fla! The food is delicious, it’s a popular place so go early or plan to wait a little while for a table.

Atmosphere is excellent, feels like you’re on a tropical vacation. Service was also very good. Food average at best, nothing to write home about. Strip steak was WAY too salty. Will be back for appetizers and cocktails!

Friendly staff and good prices for fresh seafood. Nice breeze in the hot Florida summer. Worth the trip!!!

I’m struggling a little with this review because some of my complaints are unique to my situation and shouldn’t affect your decision to go here, but here goes.
My sister and I took my mom here for Mother’s Day. We chose it (admittedly sight unseen, which is our fault) because we wanted to take her somewhere on the water. With a name like Farlowes «On the Water» we assumed this place would be perfect. Regrettably, outdoor seating doesn’t even have a view of the water. Photos on Unilocal show tables by the water, but you cannot sit there and eat! This was very disappointing. You could be anywhere, there is no «on the water» feel at all whatsoever.
I had made reservations weeks in advance, and no one told us that they would only be serving the dinner menu (at noon!). We had all picked out what we had wanted ahead of time online from the lunch menu. I feel that is something they should have told me on the phone. The menus are completely different. The dinner menu was all much heavier items (which we really didn’t want) and of course much pricier as well. This was extremely disappointing and we all had to settle for things we didn’t really want.
The service was also pretty slow (not unexpected on Mother’s Day) and the bathrooms are tiny. All this made me have to give the place three stars.
As for the food, it’s ok. I don’t care much for seafood but that is pretty much the whole dinner menu, so I got the mahi mahi. It was pretty good, especially for a non-​lover of fish. Asparagus was good but not worth the extra cost. My mom thought her chicken was alright. My sister didn’t love her food, or her cocktail.
Also, if you have a nut allergy, don’t even bother coming here. Many of the dishes include nuts (even the chicken is encrusted in nuts) and the salads all come with nuts on top. I don’t think it’s worth the risk.
All in all, I would say just come here for a drink (where you can at least then probably go sit by the water).
