I’ve been going to these stores since I was a young lass(let’s just say that this has been a long time). Maybe it’s nostalgia. Maybe it’s reasonable pricing. Maybe it’s nice customer service. It may be all of these reasons and more. The stores are all designed the same so you can go into any store, be it in Eugene or Portland and you know exactly where to find what you’re looking for. They are locally owned and reasonably priced. Spend the extra few cents and support a local store rather than soul-sucking Walmart.

Now I understand! After stopping in at Walmart and Dicks and learning that they were unable to sell the proper ODFW Wildlife Parking Area Permit, I was directed to Bi-mart. Initially, my GPS could not locate the«Buymart/By-mart/Byemart(insert incorrect spelling here) but once I did, all my confusion was quickly eliminated. After being buzzed through the turnstile at the front of the store-where i was pleasantly informed that i did not need to apply for a store membership just to get a permit, I headed to the hunting dept at the back of the store. After cheerfully entering my info in order to get prices on permits, the friendly clerk helped me determine that I didn’t need the permit after all– saving me $ 22. I was so impressed with this experience that I am sitting in the parking lot outside the store to complete this review. If I had only known about Bi-Mart sooner I would have saved an hour of driving around aimlessly.(Note: I am an out-of-town visitor and I will definitely stop in at a Bi-Mart next time I am in town.)

Whatever you’re looking for Bi-Mart probably has it. It’s like Wal-Mart, but smaller, so you’re not wandering around a giant superstore looking for what you need. The employees are always friendly and helpful and it doesn’t take forever to get in and out. And the best part is that it’s 100% locally owned and operated so the money you spend stays in the community.
