I want to have a good sandwich here, but my last 2 visits have shown me that it will not happen. Stopped in about a month ago and got a sandwich to go, had a bite and there was no turkey on my turkey sandwich. Went back in — which took a huge chuck of time out of my lunch hour– to get a new sandwich which I had to wolf down or be late back to work. No real apology or offer of chips or anything for my trouble. Decided today that they needed another chance, sorry I did. The meat doesn’t even come close to covering the bread. I paid for a drink and was given a cup usually handed out for water. The people working here barely smile when dealing with customers and act like they would rather be anywhere else. Last trip here unless I lose my memory and try again

If you’re a fan of subs that come on fluffy«wheat» rolls and are old fashioned in their toppings, this is going to be a good fit for you. While the subs were pretty decent, I was hoping for a roll with a chewier crust and perhaps just a little more flavor from the wheat and toppings. The folks who work there are super friendly and the orders come out fast. While not my first choice in lunch eats, it was a decent deal.

What a disappointment! I used to LOVEBTH and in fact I worked there 15 years ago under different management. They used to make wonderful sandwiches full of quality ingredients. Not anymore! About an hour ago, I got 3 sandwiches and a panini to go. Got home and the panini was not made as asked and half way through eating it I found a HAIR in my tuna. They just lost a longtime customer. The previous owner would never have stood for lack of personal hygiene of the employees that are handling your food!

Not your ordinary BTH. The service is excellent and you can tell the place is well managed. The bread is the best and the freshest in town. Compared to Subway and their leather bread, BTH offers up a delicious sandwich at a competitive price. If you like a french dip style sandwich, ask for their Ribca… it’s not on the menu.

This place used to be great… I used to be a advocate, that they had the best sandwiches in town, but I was extremely disappointed with my last visit. It used to be that you would get a sandwich and it was filled with a good amount of ingredients from the meats to the vegetables, but lately I have seen a progression of them using less and less every time I would periodically visit this location. The last time I went was pretty much the last straw. Mind you these sandwiches are a fair bit higher in price than other sandwich places around and paying around $ 9 for one and getting half assed amount of meats and veggies was appalling. I asked for extra mayo as usual so that I don’t get a dry sandwich, but this time it was as if they just ignored that. The two girls working also gave a vibe that they just didn’t care. Then when I took a look in between the sandwich there was hardly any meat or veggies. It was as if I was just eating dry bread. I really do love Big Town Hero, everywhere I lived that had one it would be my go to sandwich shop. Since this experience I have not been back. Very disappointing. The worst feeling is when you pay for something and it isn’t what you imagined.

Haven’t been in a while because there has been a lot of sandwich shops popping up around town that I felt were better. I used to go to Big Town but they were pretty stingy on their meat and toppings. I came back today and boy have they improved! I got the turkey bacon avocado on white bread. The bread was baked fresh that day and very nice. They were very generous with their toppings and everything tasted great! I’ll be back!

I went to the one on River Road. Do not order the cookies they are garbage.

The Crescent location has friendly staff, and the sandwiches are always tasty. The bread is fresh. If I had one complaint, it would be the cookies. I really wish they baked them fresh, because the few times I’ve eaten their pre-packaged ones, they’ve been a bit stale.

I’m a sandwich snob. I’m ok with that. All I ever get here is the turkey bacon ranch panini or the very berry turkey. I love them both for what they are. It’s not a fancy deli… But when I want a fast sandwich, they always please. And they are always nice and always fast.

Healthy food, friendly servers, delicious. Definitely coming back. It has all that cozy sandwich place atmosphere. The staff are great.

People who work there are always friendly and they are super fast at getting your food. It’s true there’s not a ton of meat on their sandwiches but I prefer it that way.

In a sea of mediocrity Big town hero is a solid dud. With just enough meat between the sheets to remind you(vaguely) of flavor, spread to keep the 4 inches of bread moist… ish and borderline vegetables that may as well have been invisible for all the flavor impact they had. I have to say this was one of the worst sandwiches i’ve ever had. Then there was the chowder… watery, bland and a sea of almost raw potatoes. It gave Moe’s a run for the worst chowder i’ve ever had. Why two stars? The young lady behind the counter was *really* nice and our food came out quickly.

I go here every now and then. Never had a problem. Today I had the Prime Club and it was delicious. Their sandwiches are similar to Jimmy Johns but I prefer Big Town Hero over JJ’s.

I despaired when it closed but rejoiced when it reopened! Sad to see the old owner go, but the new management is really good too. The place is always clean, service is quick and easy, employees are friendly… the food, as good as it ever was. What’s not to like? You can’t really beat daily fresh-baked bread! It’s a little more spendy than I like but I’m a freaking miser anyway so spending anything is a little painful. I visit this Big Town Hero about once a week, sometimes more… good place for fresh, quick lunch.

I’m dying for a great sandwich, and this ain’t it. I had the Italian, on the onion roll and my wife got the Arty Parm, and they were both just kinda meh. Very bland. Passable but certainly nothing special. And another strike for serving Pepsi products instead of Coke.

Whenever I’m in the mood for a sandwich, I head here and get the Turkey Bacon Avocado on onion. Delicious! The bread is way better than Subway’s and the ingredients are fresher too. Unfortunately they are a little pricier than most sandwich places, but there are usually coupons floating around if you look for them. Don’t be surprised if the store owner/manager seems irritated or put out when you go to use a coupon though, because the few times I’ve done that he’s given me all kinds of attitude. I’m not sure what his deal is but you would think he’d be happy that customers are coming in to use the coupons he produced. All of that aside, Big Town Hero is a great place for lunch and I’ve never been unsatisfied with the food.

Their Turkey, Bacon, & Avocado is the best! I love the fresh bread and the quick service. BTH is sooo much better than Subway.

My brother worked at this shop for ~8 months making sandwiches, and there was never any dirt to dish. I guess the turkey smells like farts when it’s first opened(plastic bag) — but turkey kind of has that funk anyway. Mmmmm free Smoked chicken on fresh-baked Onion bread. Thanks bro. These sandwiches are a clearly defined class above Subway and Quiznos, but they’re still recognizable as being a fast food sub. On the one hand they weigh out the meat for each sandwich(no pre-determined amount sitting in a stack separated by wax paper,) but on the other hand they use common shredded iceberg lettuce.

Let em start off my saying, you have to make a pretty spectacular sandwich to get my ass in your shoppe. They just are not my thing. The only two places in town that appeal to me for a sandwich are this place and cornucopia. Both make a rockin’ turkey sandwich. I recommend the turkey with cranberry, lettuce and cream cheese. Feels like the day after thanksgiving without the hangover from drinking to avoid the family, ha! VERYTASTY and reasonably priced. Friendly staff, clean bathroom.

Favorite place to get a sandwich in Eugene. Much better than Subway, Togos, etc. The sandwich meat portion is generous, the bread was always fresh, and the owner was super friendly. Highly recommended if you are craving a sandwich.
