ECO Sleep Solutions

My spouse and I recently purchased a latex mattress. 3 layers, custom-​made to our needs. Our past mattress was OLD and we had no idea how much better a new one would be. We’ve had it for several weeks now and both of us are sleeping a LOT more soundly. I was sold on it when I went in for information and a past customer came in for something small and in the process went on and on about how wonderful her new mattress was. She was right. I love the idea that it is ecologically friendly and that the business is local and so responsible.

We’ve owned our ECO Sleep bed for 2 – 3 years now and we love it every bit as much as when we purchased it. Love that we can customize each side for our different needs. It’s holding up excellently. Customer service was outstanding. We’re also big fans of the Coyuchi bath towels, which are great for our mildew-​y Oregon climate. No more towel stench after only a few days. The initial expense is not dirt-​cheap, but these products have proven to be excellent value for the cost.

This place is fabulous! My partner and I had been mattress shopping for almost a year. We have two different softness/​firmness preferences, would like to avoid an off-​gassing mattress from conventional materials, and are sometimes sensitive to heat (so memory foam didn’t sound good) or waking up from one of us moving at night and the mattress bouncing (the firmer the mattress, the more the bounce translates). I was also wary because I used to sell organic mattresses and had one for the last 10 years and was unaware that the newer ones are far superior than what used to be available. After extensive research we realized the modern latex beds sold here might be just the ticket.
My partner went by and just got some basic info and pricing. He appreciated the open and easy conversation at the store, and the environment. He asked how to approach testing the mattresses and got their advice. We then went back that weekend to do our testing. I had read that laying 10 minutes on each mattress is the minimum to test it, and that means 10 minutes in each position so you can see if any sore points develop, so we made time.
The latex mattresses we looked at here come in three layers. This has been amazing as we can change the layers for our soft/​firm preference now and over time, and even flip the layers for a ~half-​step change in firmness.
The prices feel steep for it seems we will get what we pay for, and their prices are very competitive so we felt good about our purchase; plus they’re a local business; plus they have a 90 day swap out policy which is very helpful. I think they have other customer protection policies too. They give us a 10% discount on everything and threw in a .
They also had frames there built by Pacific Rim Woodworking. This is our second handmade gorgeous maple frame at a good price. We quickly went back for a wool mattress pad.
Even after all that testing we did, and feeling like we were «sleeping on clouds» like my partner said, I still found my side a bit soft. I wrote Donna and she had great ideas. I learned a bit more about how the mattresses work and was able to flip and switch layers easily on both sides. My partner was thrilled; I was almost there but did feel like I needed a slightly firmer one. Donna helped me understand the swap-​out policy and how much time I had to figure everything out (plenty), then brought me a new slightly firmer layer.

Talk about knowledgable! My girlfriend and I went in there to get new sheets. We thought that the higher the thread count the better the sheets — we couldn’t have been more wrong! Donna took the time to explain how all of the sheet processes works. We felt some of the sheets and they were seriously amazing! We bought some Sateen sheets at the maximum of 300 TC. Without a doubt the most comfortable sheets I’ve ever felt. The real selling point was when we felt the same sheets on a pillow. They were 5 years old — and felt so much softer than when they were brand new! I didn’t even think sheets could last that long. The fact that these sheets are some of the most organic, environmentally friendly sheets around is just icing on the already delicious cake. I’m going to tell everyone about this place!

Donna working here is an extremely ethical business-​person. You actually have a business that attempts to act in the best interest of its customers. Several transactions were resolved with me through here with absolutely no negativity. I was refunded a lot of money and basically forgiven for making crazed purchases because I didn’t have a place to sleep and was a mess. I recommend Eco Sleep for it’s quality product and quality customer service, probably the best customer service you will see at any business.

I have been doing a lot of research on latex mattresses having last had one in the 70s before flame retardant and other chemicals started being used. We had some good options in PDX but I also looked further outside the metro and called this store and spoke with Donna (who owns with her husband). Turns out that she has much more personal experience with the brand they carry than most other stores would. She spent 20 minutes educating me, knowing I lived 2+ hours away, and thus a long shot customer. It turns out that I am going with a solid latex for my particular situation so will not be heading to Eugene but I wanted to send a big thank you.

We had a great experience with ECO Sleep Solutions. My wife did a ton of research and in doing that research had the owner of ECO Sleep Solutions on the phone at least four different times for a half an hour each time discussing our options. Like I said, we had a lot of questions. Each time, ECO Sleep Solutions was incredibly patient and knowledgeable. We had decided on two different Savvy Rest mattresses, one Queen and one Twin. We searched the internet for the best prices and found ECO Sleep Solutions to have competitive pricing. Some online sites had cheaper prices initially, but after factoring in shipping, ECO Solutions turned out to be better. As well, they gave us a discount for ordering two at once and we got a great price. I don’t know if the other reviewer is comparing apples to apples, because we found their pricing on the Saavy Rest line to be very competitive, if not the lower than anyone. When you go on their website, some of their pricing may seem higher, but they are almost always having specials or sales, so like a lot of businesses, it pays to call. They will work with you on pricing, especially on a large purchase (ours was @ 3K or so.) We tried to find the beds cheaper and we couldn’t. The fact that they were local (semi-​local) and great folks as well was just icing on the cake.
We checked out some of the Savvy Rest mattresses here in Portland (more expensive) and I decided to go down to Eugene to check out the exact one’s we were after. They were SO helpful and have a great selection to try and a comfortable atmosphere in which to test the different styles. As I mentioned, my wife had done a ton of research and spent hours on the phone and internet– I had done nothing, so they went through it all again with me, very patiently. I checked out all of their different styles and made the decision for the two mattresses.
Not only do you not pay shipping for these mattresses, but the owners deliver them to your bedroom and set them up. This is especially helpful, as latex mattresses come in layers and can be configured a few different ways based on the firmness you need. As well, there are some tricks to getting them set up. Having the owners (who are beyond nice) come to our home to set them up (75 miles away from Eugene) was a HUGE plus. They also took our old mattresses and take them off to donate to a group that provides mattresses to the less fortunate.
I recommend ECO Sleep Solutions 100%, and I recommend organic bedding to anyone reading this. Once you start looking into materials of construction for standard bedding (Flame retardants etc.) deciding on organic bedding is one of the greatest things you can do for the health of you and your family. Not cheap, but worth every penny. And, of equal importance, the beds are more comfortable than the top-​of-​the line conventional mattresses I had been using. Do yourself a favor and call these guys. We spent a lot on beds, but the peace of mind is worth every penny. The fact that I took the time to write this review should be proof enough of our satisfaction…
