I liked the Granary’s atmosphere immediately — downstairs in the lounge section I enjoyed great music and lively people. The drinks were great and the risotto cakes really hit the spot. My friend ordered onion rings were light and crispy — very tasty. The only complaint I have was the server. Although the bartender was awesome, when he told me where to sit for food, the server completely ignored me, even though he walked past my table three times and 20 minutes later, I got his attention. Not sure if he was out of it or what, but even after my friend sat down he wouldn’t help us. Crazy. I finally complained to the bartender where I got some service. Weird. Hopefully their other servers are better, which is why I’m giving them three instead of two stars.

Yum! Pretty good atmosphere and the waiters were friendly, but as others have said, service was REALLY slow. Our servers forgot to bring drinks on several occasions. However, the pizza was awesome! My friend and I split the fungi pizza while the guys split a meaty one. Both were tasty! We even had some fries and onion rings as an appetizer, both of which were great. The thing to remember is this place isn’t so much a restaurant as it is a bar that serves good pizza, so I don’t expect as much from the service anyway. Also, try their ginger lemonade if you’re feeling frisky! It’s so good! Overall I was pleased and I will be back.

Like the other reviews I have read for this establishment, I agree that i have mixed feeling about the restraunt. The food was phenomenal! Once they figured out that we were there and hungry(20min+, we almost left) we ordered a strawberry drink that was the best alcoholic beverage that I have ever had. But we also ordered diet soda that tasted like motor oil. Hopefully something was just wrong with the mixture. Shared a pizza and carabonara, very good. If the service would catch up with the food I would give it 6 out of 5 stars.

The food was decent. We started with the baked Brie and smoked salmon. The Brie and accompaniments were good, with the exception of the salmon, which neither tasted smoked nor very fresh. The pizza was very good, however they forgot to put one of our pizzas in with the rest of our order so half of our party had to wait while the rest of us ate. The service overall was terrible. After being seated it was almost 20 minutes before our server checked in on us, and he only came by our table 3 times for the 90 minutes we were there. If any of us had wanted a second drink we didn’t have the opportunity to order one. Will likely never return, and will certainly never plan a birthday dinner there again.

Good food, good drinks, good prices and happy hours/deal of the days. Live music is fun, so are the sitting rooms. 3 stars because as mentioned before they habitually understaff, some staff seems overwhelmed so they can forget things(though always friendly), and the kitchen is commonly put of items. Worth going to, but prepare to wait for service and food.

Tonight was by far the best service I have ever had at Granary. John was only filling in but he was attentive, honest, funny, and very thoughtful. It had been a little while since I have eaten here and not for any specific reason, just life. I often frequented this establishment in the past for some of the best food in town but eventually my taste buds led me elsewhere. I never forgot the flavors… My friends and I arrived asking for specific accommodations for nostalgic reasons and were immediately taken care of with kindness and patience late in the evening. Our food came at a perfect pace for a group of 6, catching up and laughing loudly. Thoughtfully placed visits from our server and another attentive employee assured we had everything we needed for our meal. A minor issue with the food was corrected immediately with excellent service and we finished our meals full and quite happy. I have recommended this place in the past but John has brought the Granary up a couple levels in my book. Nice work, John. Thanks for making a great night even better.

Enjoyed the music and food. Fried green tomatoes and Thai pizza were delicious. At first the load music was bothersome, but it grew on us.

NEVERAGAIN!!- I have been eating at the Granary since it opened and typically enjoy it. However, after tonight’s experience I will not be returning. Showed up at 6:00 to a mostly empty restaurant, Yay! Nope. Our service was horrible, food was mediocre, and upon complaint was rudely addressed by the shift manager, twice. I complained about my party’s lengthy experience to our server(the manager) and other guests heard; they were seated at the bar she was behind. After a long night of waiting for the chance our server to walk by, we got tired of waiting. We joked at our table of six that because we were an auto gratuity table(6+ persons) that she knew that an 18% tip was coming whether she paid us any attention or not. Everything. took. forever. She would take our drink order… waited 10+ minutes for a few beers and glasses of wine. Dropped off our drinks and didn’t even ask if we wanted to order dinner, walked away. WALKEDAWAY. That should have been a signal to us. Lesson learned. By the end of the meal, two and a half hours later, we were just sick of being ignored. The last straw was not being able to leave; the bill never came. After flagging her as she walked by(again) and asking for our tab, we waited for her to come collect payment. Big shocker, she never came. After 15 minutes, we finally asked another staff member to run our card so we could leave. Ten more minutes passed and still nothing, so I went to her. 25 minutes to run a credit card is way too long. I went to the section of the restaurant I saw her enter and asked for our card to be run. I mentioned that our wait was too long and she tried to argue with me about it. WHAT?! In what universe is a manager expected to argue with a customer. She(manager) then comes to the table as we are finally getting up to leave and quite aggressively tells me how wrong I was for addressing my issue in front of other guests. Another member of my dinner party had to step in front of her and tell her to stop harassing me. I worked in the service industry for many years and understand the business. If I just made 26.00 from a group for doing NOTHING I wouldn’t be so unhappy. I was amazed by the lack of professionalism and respect for a paying customer. I am sorry, but in the restaurant world, isn’t the customer always right? Well, I am right in sharing my HORRIBLE experience. I will never go back, I would not recommend this establishment to anyone unless they have a few extra hours and a lot of extra patience, you’ll need it. *I will note that several other staff members noticed(more than once) and apologized for the lack of service we were receiving. They handled a table of unhappy guest quite well. Perhaps the manager should receive some training from her staff.

Very disappointing, mostly because it was insanely expensive and not good at all. Pizza was very overrated I wouldn’t recommend it.

Meh. I had wings for an appetizer and a slice of margherita pizza during happy hour. Very mediocre. The wings were basically freezer-to-oven, pizza was okay but kind of soggy. I would not pay $ 20+ for a full pizza here. We went early evening on a Tuesday and it was pretty slow, but I could see it being a nice atmosphere with live music going. The servers were attentive, so I do appreciate that. Might return for drinks but definitely not the food.

Great mixed drinks and homemade ginger lemonade. Unique pizza, good appetizers. Great service. We were glad to find this place.

I have serious mixed feelings about this place. They have amazingly tasty food, the best ginger lemonade I have ever had, and the music scene in the evening can be great fun(I even met my husband there). But… As someone in the service industry I am under the firm belief that they under staff purposefully and that is what leads to the terribly slow service. If you’re planning on going here, you need at lest an hour and a half to get food and get out, that’s if they aren’t busy. I have waited over 20 minutes just for someone to come see if we want drinks. I only order take out because their gluten free pizza is the best I’ve ever had.

Okay — the ambiance in this place is good. Dark and mood lighting etc. It was a seat yourself type of situation and so I initially met my friend downstairs and we enjoyed a good happy hour… The Martinis are only $ 5.50 during happy hour WHAT!!! They were fantastic… My friend said that the calamari was delicious too. The sweet potato fries are true sweet potatoes NOT yams lol We moved upstairs and met my parents for dinner. Our server was okay… but it was strange. Dad wanted the chicken on their menu(note it isn’t a huge menu) and they were out and it was the BEGINNINGOF the dinner hour and we came only 2 hours after they opened. I had been there the hour before and it was NOT busy. Okay so strange — time to go to Costco or something… moving on… We ordered iced tea. I asked for a refill and I was told they were out. I was a bit incredulous — and that is where I kinda drew the line. I asked if they wanted me to run to the store to get some tea for them. This was met with laughter — but wait — I was serious. What restaurant runs out of iced tea. I stopped Ash, who I thought was a manager and she most certainly is not, and asked about it. This is where service took a turn for the WAY better. Talk about high class service thereafter. She went and brewed more tea for us and then took it upon herself to make sure our cups were continually full. Note their lemonade is true handmade lemonade it just had ginger which I am not a fan of but try it. We got salads all around the table and they were good. Pretty good portion once the lettuce was spread out but at first we were taken aback about the size. Dressings are homemade and delicious. The pizza was okay. Pepperoni is homemade. Sausage appears to be as well. The bell peppers on the pizza were red which is different but fine. The live music was pretty darn good — it was loud but they were a good band whoever they were. Kinda expensive but hey it was okay… We will give it a try again…

I used to love this place, and I don’t mean a long time ago, but recently. The beet and white bean salad with feta cheese was excellent, the pizza — always reliable, my favorite cider usually on tap. Sadly, the last three times the food has really declined for some reason. It was like the beet and white beans were from a can or something — there was no flavor to them, and the pizza crust had no crisp or crunch to it — it was flaccid, almost soggy. And, really, the atmosphere as a whole — we got stuck in the downstairs, and when there’s not a lot of people there(which usually seems the case) it’s kind of like, well, a basement. I’m just not inclined to go back anytime soon.

This review is for our latest experience. We have been before and had great food and service. We ordered sweet potato fries, fancy gourmet beet and blue cheese salad, and a designer pizza with gluten-free crust. Fries and salad were great. My family has severe immune response to gluten so after ordering we asked server twice to confirm that pizza was gluten-free. When it arrived we thought it looked delicious, authentic, and oddly like a real(wheat) pizza… The next day my wife had violent diarrhea and destroyed our car. The kids have been destroying the house with poop all day. Seriously Granary?! Get your shit together!

The food was OK. They say us right away and said«a server will be right with you guys» So I don’t think it is to much to except a server or someone to come take our drink orders within five minutes, but our reasonable expectations were not met. Fifteen minutes until we got drinks. DRINKS! She comes back with the drinks and takes our order and at this point we just want our food. We are hungry l. So we order something that shouldn’t take to long, a pizza. I work at a food place myself so I know they take about 5 – 10 minutes, if we are packed 15. 2 hours I kid you not. Two hours. The waitress did not even come check up on us or offer us a refill. We had to actually tell a bus boy to bring her over. I’m not sure why we didn’t just leave. Horrible experience

I came here for a goodbye party of about 20 people. We were able to reserve the wine bar, which was a great space to mix and mingle as opposed to a long table where you’re sort of limited to who you’re sitting next to. The food and drinks were pretty good. My only complaint was really the service. The wait staff was nice, but we pretty much had one person serving all of us and it took about a half hour or more at time every time just to get drinks, including wine. Even so, I think I’d come back, because it seemed like a good restaurant with lots of things going on. For example, we had the option to go downstairs for live music, but ended up going elsewhere.

Had an amazing pizza while listening to a live bluegrass band. We ordered the The Greek which had spinach, sun dried tomatoes, peppers, onions, olives, and feta cheese. The seating is eclectic and fun on multiple levels, the servers friendly, and attentive. I will say the beer selection was not impressive at all but the wine menu was not bad so take that under consideration.

DLW and I had a Friday date night here, and had a good experience. We decided to skip the pizza, their signature dish, and opted for pasta. She went for orechiette with a rich crème sauce including bacon and sun-dried tomatoes. She was a little overwhelmed by the richness, but still liked her selection. I went for spaghetti with clam sauce. Surprisingly all of the clams were fresh and served in the shell, and there were lots of them. I love clams, and even I was satisfied with the quantity. The best part of clam sauce pasta is the sauce, all buttery, garlicky and clammy. They thoughtfully supplied a spoon as well as toast to sop it all up. Service was good, but not exceptional. Uniquely for Eugene they have live music during dinner. A duet of young women on guitar played earnestly, if not that skillfully. At least we could hear ourselves talk during dinner. For the experience prices are reasonable.
