5 stars for the deli selection. I particularly like the stromboli and the kids love the corn dogs. 3 stars for the prices.

Coming from Los Angeles, the Market of Choice offers a wide selection of speciality items, organic foods, vegan alternatives, a nice meat selection and a great bakery. It’s a tad on the pricey side for Eugene, although it’s comparable to Whole Foods when it comes to cost. They have a broad selection of prepared foods, however, best to read labels to know what you’re eating modified food starch does appear in some of the salads. The friendly employees help make for a positive shopping experience.

It’s my store. I can’t shop anywhere else. I know the aisles and the shelves and love the sense of familiarity. It’s a bit expensive, but I can shop the sales and feel right about paying what I do, plus the produce is consistently excellent, which isn’t the case with bargain grocery stores. The best checker at the 29th and Willamette location is Eric. Always friendly and kind.

The store is very nice, not all fresh food, but the store is nice. However; You seem to have a problem with turn over in staff and too many management complaints, and what I experienced today adds tremendously to your employee relations problems: I was asked inappropriate questions at a job interview, at least 3 inappropriate questions. One of them was: «Are you looking for jobs elsewhere»? «Are you interviewing elsewhere»? … I believe most companies have a policy that strictly forbids that question. If they are asking that to see if I plan on working there long term, ask: «do you plan on working here long term»? … Doesn’t everybody apply to multiple jobs? Isn’t the idea to get one of those jobs? … Don’t students work there, who obviously are not considered to be long term employees? … Or maybe this is an AGEDISCRIMINATION question that they asked me. Do they ask students that question too? … Long story short, you are adding kindle to your already pile of fire wood in management and employee problems, and easily a DISCRIMINATION issue, and it labels your store, unfortunately, in a negative way. Maybe it would help this store to train management, seems like a no brainer to me. I look forward to experiencing other stores in the Eugene area with better reputations than this one.

I shopped at the Whole Foods in downtown Palo Alto, CA for several years and even I find Market of Choice to be too expensive. I’m not talking about nickels and dimes here either. $ 4.49 vs $ 3.49 for 16oz of yogurt, $ 5.99/lb vs $ 4.99/lb for ground peanut butter – 20% to 40% price increases on a lot of everyday items. I’m willing to pay a little more for high-quality or unique foods, but I feel exploited when I shop here.

I go here once a week but do not buy much. They have two choices, expensive or cheap so I tend to pick and choose and just look for sale prices. In a way it is actually the Market of Last Resort for me because I prefer to go there after I have already patronized Tader Joes and Safeway.

I lived in Boulder, CO for many years and there is three Whole Foods there. Boulder had a Co-op that lasted a few wonderful short years, but I think because of the«bigger/better» Whole Foods was hard for them to make it. Upon returning to Eugene Market of Market of Choice feels like Whole Foods even looking oddly like it. In fact the Register-Guard said a Whole Foods is moving into Eugene in 2016 bringing in 150 jobs. Will Sundance, Kiva, Capella, and New Frontier survive with MOC/Whole Foods? Let’s hope or rather let’s stop hoping by voting w/our dollar walking our talk where we spend our $. I believe in a green economy and voting w/one’s dollars. Each dollar spent is voting for the kind of world you wish to see. Market of Choice is very vegan friendly like Whole Foods is. It is massive like Whole Foods and like Whole Foods it has both organic/conventional produce. I love that Grower’s Market, Friendly, Sundance, and so on are all organic not giving the consumer the option to buy conventional produce. Also, Market of Choice unlike Whole Foods has a lot of junk foods ie conventional diet unhealthy foods found in typical supermarkets such as King Soopers and Fred Meyer. Of course you can say well Market of Choice is better than King Soopers or Fred Meyer which it is and carries organic/vegan foods(it does), but still why settle for bronze when you could go for gold at the stellar above average anywhere natural food stores in the country. I think Grower’s Market is one of the best natural food stores on the planet that encourages package free diet w/all organic produce and wonderful bulk. Sundance is nearly all vegetarian w/the best hot food and cold bar on the West Coast not too much anywhere I’ve traveled in North America. Grower’s Market, Sundance, Capella, and New Frontier are much better shopping experience in my opinion, so vote w/your dollar and experience it there.

I really like Market Of Choice, but for some reason I like this one the best. I on occasion come here on Wednesday because of their event Sushi Wednesdays. Where some of the choices are only $ 4.99. There is a wide selection of sushi for that price and it always looks fresh and appetizing. As for the store everything looks tempting even in their deli, only turn off is the price for most items here, they are bit on the pricey side. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Also sometimes parking here can be a pain.

Recently moved from New York City and whole foods spoilt vegans. When we moved to Eugene we were a bit bummed that there was no Whole Foods store. The first time I went to Market of Choice I was like«where have you been all my life». I love the atmosphere here, classical music playing softly in the background makes for a lovely shopping experience. It is a very vegan friendly store in terms of selection, so if you are vegan you won’t feel deprived. Most of their produce, bread and bulk items are locally sourced. The store definitely delivers on quality and the prices are reasonable. I think the money spent here is worth it.

Love, love, love this market. Great everything but I bought chicken noodle soup from deli today and it was chicken noodless soup. Not one single noodle, what’s that about?

I shop here a little more often than I am comfortable admitting to. I have a love hate relationship with Price Chopper Market of Choice. I love that they have some great cheese selections and, while I am not a big fan of baked goods, I love the way their various sweet and savory pastries look. I really hate(strongly dislike?) the way they try to dupe people into believing that everything here is healthy, organic, local etc. though it seems that most people buy into it and thus ‘buy’ into the additional price mark up on everything that comes with that. They really know their target market here in Eugene. I do give them extra points for their sale prices on things. Yes, once in a while, Price Chopper lives up to its name and you can get some good deals on things. The fire place is nice too.

My recent trip to my favorite market was wonderful, except for encountering Jay, the butcher, at the meat deli. He embarrasses customers and is «put-out» when customers ask something of him. I felt so sorry for one customer he talked to as he clearly embarrassed her in front of others.

For the most part our experience at Market of Choice has always been positive, with the exception of our 03/31/2014 visit. We live in Roseburg, OR, some 70 miles away, so we always look forward with anticipation to visit this location, this is no longer the case. On 03/31/2014 at approximately 3:40pm we visited your Willamette location. Almost immediately I found my way to the deli counter. I was interested in purchasing a full pound of prosciutto, but have learned the taste/quality can vary greatly between Domestic and Imported. Domestic prosciutto can vary great from piece to piece depending on aging and handling. I was greeted by «Jay». I informed«Jay that I was interested in getting a pound of prosciutto, but wanted to try the difference between the Domestic and Imported. From the onset«Jay» seemed a bit put out that I asked to try before purchasing. Prosciutto can run over $ 22.00 per pound, so making sure I liked what I purchased is important. «Jay» started looking for an open package of prosciutto to provide a sample, but found none open. It was obvious he seemed frustrated because he had to open a new package. He trimmed of some fat and cut a small piece with a knife and handed it to me. My 25 year old daughter was standing next to me, «you don’t want to try it too, do you?» she said yes, he cut another small piece and handed it to her. I had asked to try the difference between Domestic and Imported, but he just stood there looking, waiting for me to make a decision if I wanted it or not, never offering to let me try the Imported prosciutto. Not wanting to cause an issue, I said, «I would like a pound of the prosciutto.» I also told him I knew it would take time to cut; I would go get other items and return. I left the counter and went to select cheeses and bread for my prosciutto purchase. While I was at the gourmet cheese area, my wife was having a conversation with the gourmet bakery counter. My wife loves gourmet food and Pinterest. She proceeded to take a couple photos of the bakery case as the shopping trip was a fond memory, just then«Jay» yells out from the deli counter, «Hey, you can take pictures in here!» He voice was loud enough for other customers to hear, look and embarrass my wife, people started looking at her. My wife told«Jay», thanks for telling me and walked away. I asked to speak with the store manager. I explained what had happened in both interactions with«Jay». I further explained my wife had no idea about the stores policy about photos. With the number of cell phones with cameras in use, I asked what about all the people taking photos with their cell phone. The manager informed me that although they have a no photos policy, they do not bother customers who take a photo or two of items they like. The attitude and yelling by «Jay» was inexcusable. The manager said, «I will talk to Jay about our policy, He should have not said anything to your wife.» We had planned on purchasing multiple items during our visit, but after the two incidents, took our prosciutto an few items, checked out and left. We visit Eugene often and look forward to patronizing certain establishments, however being yelled at is not an acceptable policy. We looking for other options for our next Eugene visit.

This is the absolute best of ALL the MOC’s.(I’ve spent way too much time in all of them). I love the new smoothies featured at the coffee area and the fact that they have coconut milk is truly awesome. Their bulk foods are the best in town; a huge variety and this MOC keeps it the cleanest/neatest. This location also has the best variety and even carries some items the others do not. The location is perfect; it’s nestled between cafes, near a gym and a lovely Asian Market and close to the post office. Really the best area in town :) The seating and café/dining area is great(I love the upstairs) but my only request is that they get free wifi. It’s pricey but the selection and atmosphere is worth it.

Respectable campus-straddling supermarket. As would befit a supermarket straddling the crunchy granola University of Oregon in the crunchy granola city of Eugene, Market of Choice features a well-manicured supply of vegetables sorted into the different castes of organic. Solid beer collection, with multiple local labels. Unfortunately, this is not a Russian River(Pliny the Elder) purveyor. Meat choices are a bit lacking; no rib roasts or large sirloin cuts to be found here. That being said, the meat itself is reasonably tasty. Prices are similar to slightly better than those at Whole Foods.

Really, how many things are more personal than your choice of primary grocery store? Where you shop says a lot about your self-conception. So what does shopping at the Southtowne MoC say about me? ~I don’t mind spending a few extra dollars to avoid mingling with the humanoids at Safeway or Albertsons. ~I don’t care enough about the locality of my produce, or derive enough enjoyment from the smell of self-righteous white folks, to patronize Sundance or Capella. ~I’m confident enough in my hand-eye coordination to navigate the shittiest large parking lot in Eugene. So yeah, that’s Market of Choice in a nutshell. This particular location has a really good bakery, a sushi case that gives me a better fix than many restaurants in town, and an excellent selection(really, a decent bottle shop’s worth) of beer. I often bump into people I can’t stand at this store, but after driving across town to the inferior Sheldon location a couple of times, I gave up and returned. Yay? Happy shopping!
