bartender was friendly and they make their own sour mix.

Starlight– super staff. Best happy hour in town. Who else does patron shots for $ 3?! It happens everyday from 9:30– 10:30. Lots of other specials… Vary classy bar. Rent the pool room for like $ 5/hr. Great new deck outside. But it’s about the people here. I leave sore from laughing so hard. Very entertaining. I could list all the awesome people here but you need to come meet them…

Been here once. People get understandably rowdy after $ 3 patron shot specials, so cant be too annoyed with the bar crowd. Bartenders were very polite and good about cutting people off! Not gonna lie, it definitely smelled like a dive bar, but if you can put up with it you’ll have a good time

Awesome drink specials all night long, trivia night on Wednesdays is entertaining & there are ca$h prizes and the overall atmosphere is chill. Unfortunately, there’s only one pool table, but the upside to that is you can«rent» the room for $ 10/hr! Plus there’s video poker, some old school arcade games & a few tv’s to keep you occupied!

Went to the Starlight last night 10:30pm, my first time there. Walking in, the place smells like sewage. the entire«lounge» stunk like a toilet. Yuck. NOT a good first impression. Guy at the door was friendly enough… Bartenders, not so much. I regret tipping the guy. I ordered a Tanq & Tonic…$ 5.50 for the weakest drink I’ve ever been served in Eugene. Not a smile, not a word from the bartender, just a crappy drink, and it wasn’t even busy yet. There were 4 guys standing around behind the bar at that point. An hour later when the place got packed, there were only 2 bartenders. Typical lame Eugene service… open a place, fill it with Goodwill junk, staff it with people who don’t like to work but expect tips just for being there, serve some garbage but charge for gold, and call it good. Won’t return to the Starlight.

The Starlight is one of the most under-appreciated bar/lounges in Eugene, OR. Of course, most people are familiar with their fantastic happy hour specials, $ 3 patron shots(9:30 — 10:30) and $ 3 well drinks till 9 — midnight(roughly, don’t quote me). But, with large welcoming couches, Starlight offers a warm and sophisticated, but still unpretentious, alternative in the downtown scene. The bartenders are always very friendly and are equally at home serving up a PBR or a fancy cocktail or martini(and without grumbling). Sure, the bathroom isn’t always a gem, but, this is easily understandable: It’s a bar, after all. For smokers, the large patio in the back is always accommodating and you can hear quality music via the outdoor speakers. Finally, for those who like pool, there is a pool room that can be rented by the hour at a very reasonable rate. Starlight isn’t just for happy hour… Strongly recommended that people give it a shot and enjoy the lounge atmosphere.

I like the Starlight a lot. If you don’t mind the frat bros and sorostitutes who flock to the $ 2 patron shots too much, than you will have a good time here. It’s dark and divey, and there’s lots of outdoor space to smoke. The drinks and service are good. One time somebody threw a live chicken over the fence and some guy started dancing with it and then offered us hash while staring at me hungrily, but that’s just Eugene for you.

We stopped at Starlight for their happy hour drinks before checking out First National Taphouse. We hadn’t been for a couple of years, but knew it was a great spot for inexpensive martinis. + $ 3 Crater Lake martinis(up from $ 2 a couple of years ago) + $ 3 Microbrews + Friendly bartender Starlight isn’t a spot I’d likely hang out for hours and hours, but it’s great for a pre-dinner martini!

These guys are great. Good drink specials, pretty relaxing atmosphere before the patrone happy hour hits. Then it becomes a madhouse. They’re good at taking care of us regulars though, even when the place gets mobbed.

Met a friend there for a few beers around 8:30. Around an hour later, when it started to get a little busy, a cocktail waitress informed us she«had to take our chairs for the pool room» and unceremoniously proceeded to do just that, leaving us standing at the bar. Unfortunately we’d just gotten refills so moved to another spot to finish them, but I couldn’t wait to leave after that. Unbelievable. If you want to feel like a valued customer, go to Rogue next door.

I have been to this lounge a handful of times and tend to forget about it when hitting the normal triangle(Davis, Horsehead, Jameson) downtown… but I was called to meet a friend last weekend during the celebration and was reminded that I really do like this place. It is cool and dim, super mellow before the $ 2 shots kick in, and I got a $ 2 martini made with Crater Lake vodka that pretty much kicked ass. So I will be back for Happy Hour much more often. Like today, in fact.

Great Lemondrops. Pool costs $ 10 an hour. The coffee was luke warm and stale.

Quiet on weeknights, but weekends are a different tale. The bell ringing at 9:30 serves as a cattle call to the bros and ladies all thirsting for $ 2 Patron shots. It becomes chaotic, quick. Other than that, they have several different drink specials, spaced throughout the night. This is the only reason you should be buying a cocktail here to begin with. They’re pricy when it isn’t a special.

The bartenders are usually personable, but the crowd becomes a sea of overly-fragranced douchebags too quickly to escape it without a headache. Groovy hippie dudes are always puffing the reefers out back, the cheap Patron shots bring out the least classy dames in town, and the laid back lounge environment is just a waste after 7 or 8 pm. Small beer pours make the place not worth it, unless you want to start out strong with a couple cheap Patron shots before heading somewhere cool like Jameson’s.

This place is kind of dead earlier in the evening, but after 9pm, it gets incredibly busy and loud. People are probably revving up for the $ 2 Patron shots at 9:30pm. Hover around the bar until you hear the bell. If you want food, you’ll have the option of ordering from a couple different places, like The Horsehead, since the Starlight Lounge doesn’t have a kitchen, but you’ll have to wait for the bartender to call it in and the food to be delivered. 4:00pm-7:00pm(Happy Hour): $ 2 — White Russians w/Crater Lake Vodka, Local Microbrews, Hinman Wines 9:30pm-10:30pm: $ 2 — Patron shots 9:30pm-12:00am: $ 2 — Local Microbrews

What a silly name. It was totally dead when we were there, but started picking up at 9:30pm with the sound of the bell signaling $ 2 patron shots. What? Yeah. I don’t get it either. Pretty sure they’re watered down, although they taste legit. That was awesome though. I’d come here again just for those cheap drinks.

I moved out of the Eugene, OR area without ever once coming here for a good olé night of drinking. I came down for the weekend to hang out with my friend where she basically forced me into a Santa pub crawl(and by forced she said, hey you wanna do the pub crawl with me? And I said, sho thang! What time?) They had $ 2 shots of Patron so I had like five. So I am not sure how well I really remember the place. There is a chance that it was some seedy nasty place with vomit in the corner and I would really be none the wiser. But if I remember right, I thought this place was pretty comfortable. It was a tad crowded, but the overall atmosphere worked well enough. I got to thinking about why it is that I had never frequented this place before. Now I am realizing it’s because the bar front is so non-descript. Apparently, I need neon light and strippers dancing in the windows to be able to tell a place is one that gets me drunk if I pay them. This is neither here nor there, really. I just wanted to say ‘stripper’ in a Unilocal review. I would recommend this place. It’s really the only bar we went to during the whole pub crawl(and afterwards) that I really enjoyed.

I kind of laughed when I read the review that concluded Starlight is «upscale(and) classy.» Starlight seems more like the place where if you accidentally took a patron home you’d end up with HPV. With that said, I’ll be there from 9−10PM to enjoy $ 2 shots of Patrón. Happy Hour is from 4−7PM, with pretty good deals(i.e. $ 2 Caucasian made with Crater Lake Vodka). In conclusion, enjoy the Patrón, not the patron.
