Although the service is not ideal, I enjoyed getting my lunch to go, and I’ve had pleasant dining experiences here as well. My favorite dishes include the tom kah gai soup, Pad Thai, cashew gai, and the«oh my god» appetizer. The speed can’t be beat.

I travel for work, and was passing through town to get food. The pad see ew was 5⁄5. I can spot a fake, having eaten at numerous Thai restaurants in different states. I gave 4⁄5 stars because it’s near a university and draws the foul-mouthed college students. I wish I had ordered it «to go.»

Delicious and fast! A very reliable lunch spot with great service.

Probably the worst Thai food I’ve ever had. I had their beef pad Thai, there was hardly any flavor and only two pieces of meat. And to top it off the person at the front was rude.

One of the best places on campus to get quick and delicious thai food. The ambience isn’t all that great if your looking for a nice date night out but its a good place to stop in for a quick bite to eat.

Food was alright but the service was sketchy. The lady who took my order yelled a lot to her staff and did not seem like she wanted to be there at all. She was gruff with customers with a «What do you want?» attitude. I probably won’t come back cuz the food wasn’t worth how uncomfortable the environment was…

One of my favorite places near campus to eat. It was sad to see Sweet basil go out of business downtown but I’m so glad that I can still get terrific Thai food near campus. You can choose your spice level and get certain a few minutes nice outdoor seating the inside is a little crowded and warm. It’s my go to spot for Thai food

The«Oh My God» is literally the best thing ever. The only thing you can say while eating it is «oh my god» because it’s sooo tasty. Very aptly named I would say!

I have no idea how I’ve been in here so many times and not written a review yet! Let’s just say, this is by far my favorite thai place in all of Eugene. They give you such HUGE portions, and their food is always consistently great. Tofu pad thai is my absolute favorite and I’m obsessed and they probably know me by face now because I’m in here so often. Just go try it. You won’t be disappointed. Honestly better than most sit-down thai food places I’ve had. And so reasonably priced!

Best Pad Thai on campus! And I love that we can now get Thai Tea without ice, it’s an extra 25 cents but worth it. Would definitely recommend. The flies when dining in are a downside though, especially on the warmer days.

I have not been to the restaurant since 11⁄14. On 3÷20÷15 someone charged $ 19.00 without my card. Use cash only

My husband and I got delivery from SBE through . The food was good as always. I had the yellow curry without onions or bell peppers spiced mildly with seafood. The calamari was tough, but there were tons of scallops and a good amount of shrimp. It was a little spicy for mild, so if you are sensitive you might want to ask them for extra mild. My husband had the I Love Veggies dish with tofu. He originally wanted the cashew gai, but apparently that dish cannot be made vegan. All in all a good dinner. Oh, and I love that they use recyclable containers for their to go orders.

Not the greatest thai food on the planet, but it’s quick and cheap. I got the yellow curry with tofu which was quite tasty, although mostly spicy and less flavorful. Got quite a few hard/uncooked pieces of rice as I ate, but the potatoes and carrots generally made up for it.

3.5 stars. I was skeptical after seeing the reviews. Boiled down, it looked like a problem with service, not food. We got there at about 6 on Saturday night. It was near empty despite summer weather in the winter. I had the pad Thai(w/side of peanut sauce – necessary) and a glass of Malbec, and he had the yellow curry with a Thai iced tea. Food: we were both surprised by the quality after seeing the reviews. It was quite good! Big portions, lots of protein and very tasty. I especially liked how hot it was. The water was tap water and was room temp. That sucks. Get some ice. It’s cheap. Service: well first of all, there were two servers for the whole floor. No manager, no cashier or host. Two guys on a busy Saturday night. That’s an error in management. Get a host/cashier minimum. Second, your servers need haircuts. They look like they are still in high school at 25. That said, nice guys. I saw the fear in their eyes as it got busy though. We got boxes for the dinner, and it took another 10 mins to get the check. Poor guy was running around everywhere though. Still, 15%. He deserved it but they need more help. Period. Overall: still worth going to despite the service, just get there early, before the rush.

A campus staple. I enjoy their lunch pricing and I typically order the kee Mao or pad see ew. The curry dishes are nice as well. Quality can be hit or miss depending on how busy they are. If you go during prime lunch rush expect to wait behind a line of sorority girls.

The restaurant was dirty and although it was slow(I was the only one in there), the owner was just on her laptop. I ordered the chicken pad Thai to go and the portion was a bit on the small side, which irritated me since I was there a few minutes after lunch was over. The pad thai was pretty good, but tasted like some boxed pad Thai I got at Safeway. I try to eat only natural and organic foods, but I was really craving Thai and it gave me a massive headache which means it was probably loaded with MSG. Since I usually make sure not to consume MSG, I can feel it much easier than the average person. If they tidy up the place and remove the MSG, I’ll be back. For now, I’ll stick to Ta Ra Rin despite the distance.

I usually like sweet basil express and at one point last year would usually go once or twice a month to treat myself. Since then something very bad has happened. the flavor is off and the portions have shrunken to a quarter to what I use to receive for a to-go order. Maybe its because I’ve been going to Ta-Ra-Rin and have been spending a few extra bucks for better Thai(because in eugene there are much better Thai restaurants, sweet basil just has the closest location to campus) but this was outrageous from even a decent Thai place! I might never go back just because of how poor the portions and quality was. I want an answer for this!

Sweet Basil Express is great if you’re looking for a quick and affordable bite of Thai. While their menu isn’t as extensive as a sit-down restaurant(hence the«express»), there is always something that looks good to me. Their Pad See Ew and Pad Thai are extremely flavorful and the meats are always cooked perfectly. The food also comes out very quickly; by the time I go claim a table, my food is ready. The prices are very affordable to boot – less than $ 10 per dish, and the portions are hearty. My only complaints are the small size of the restaurant(tables are extremely limited), and a lot of the time the tables are kind of messy and need to be wiped off(it is a bus your own table restaurant). Other than that, Sweet Basil Express is a great place to try if you are around campus!

Sweet Basil Express is my go to restaurant when I’m in the mood for some quick, flavorful, and affordable Thai food. Located quite close to campus, it’s common to see crowds of students in and around this establishment. The dishes are decently priced and in my experience, the wait time for placing orders to go is never dreadful. However, with the establishment being quite small, it’s hard to find a decent place to stand while waiting for your orders, your best bet is waiting outside.(hopefully it’s not raining that day!) A selection of tables are available for those of you who would prefer to eat here but in my experience, most of the indoor and outdoor tables were filled upon arrival. I’m definitely a fan of their Thai iced-coffee and tea but I mostly come here for their Pad Thai. It’s always flavorful and slightly spicy with well prepared pan-fried noodles. The portions aren’t overwhelming either which is nice since rice noodles don’t exactly make for the best leftovers. Their Fresh Wrapped vegetarian spring rolls also make for a yummy appetizer! A great way to spice up those late night study sessions or casual take-out nights without doing damage to your checkbook, Sweet Basil Express is solid.

Bom diggidy! Got the yellow curry(roommate got the tom yum soup) both were brilliant! Extra hot reserved for the bold, the brave, and the slightly insane… Really good tho. My face is red afterwards lol
