I am amazed this place is allowed to stay in business. Look at the pics I posted. Shortly after those were shot the owners came and brought the food in and hosed off the sidewalk. I contacted the health dept. let’s see what they do.

Maybe if I was still drunk? The Manfolk and I were headed back to our car after the Duck game and discussing where we could grab a quick bite. We’re both fans of The O Bar but didn’t want to take the time. As we were cutting through the parking lot, he noticed this small restaurant that is in the same complex. What the hey, let’s give it a try. This is authentic Asian food. Like spicy intestine or pig ear, authentic food. I appreciate the pictures of the various plates of food, and there are many. I know that I have a simple palate and am not adventurous enough to try a large number of things on the menu. That’s on me, not the restaurant. I opted for something simple, teriyaki chicken and shrimp with rice. The daily specials were written in a native language that I couldn’t read and the gentleman that took our order didn’t speak too much English. He was nice though. You can watch them prepare the food and wait in the small area. We took our order to go. I think our cost for two dinners and two cans of Coke, was around $ 25. After we arrived home, I plated our dinners and was so disappointed. The shrimp were small, like canned bay shrimp. The chicken was lackluster with no flavor. I take that back. The flavor was gross. I can’t explain what was wrong with it though? It was so bad that I was unable to eat my dinner and threw it out. The food includes white rice and they included so much cabbage that it was difficult to separate it. Bottom line: something as simple as as teriyaki has to be easily mastered. I can’t recommend giving them a second chance.

This place is unassuming and all that yes, but I’m fine with the simplicity. The seaweed egg drop soup here is excellent. I haven’t had anything from the Chinese menu, but the standard is quite good. It’s a good serving for basic, simple dishes for reasonable prices. The people there have always been friendly. However, there is quite a wait at times so I wish they would hurry up. Obviously there isn’t much atmosphere to the place(unless you like bright colors — I tend to get my food to go) so I’d recommend ordering in advance and then take your sweet time to get there.

Is it chinese or japanese fast food place?! I don’t know but its pretty expensive for fast food and you have to wait for some 15 to 20 mins for teriyaki. Food is nothing extra ordinary, I could buy panda express and would 2 to 3 course compared to their price.

A small, unassuming Chinese joint with 5 items on the menu: Teriyaki Chicken, Teriyaki Pork, Teriyaki Beef and a couple others that I can’t remember off the top of my head. I don’t blame people for quickly dismissing this place: the O Bar and Grill next door gets far more business, and the ridiculously nice cars the rich, international UO students drive around the area do more than just pull attention away from this hole in the wall. I don’t mean to come off as bitter/jealous/envious or anything, because that’s simply not the case, but sometimes I wish my daddy loved me enough to buy me a Porsche for getting into college… What most people don’t notice is the whiteboard mounted to the left side of the main menu, with twenty-some odd dishes scribbled in Chinese and faint, red dry-erase marker. Now THAT’S what I’m talking about. If you can’t read Chinese, the couple running the place are more than happy to translate or make suggestions on what to order(I can also suggest the blindfolded pointer finger trick). Or just order the fried rice if you want to go with a safe bet. In any case, the place was a pleasant surprise, and the food is top notch as far as Eugene is concerned(with Chinese food). Just make sure you take your order to go; the dining utensils aren’t always cleaned very well.
