Always great, although I think the food might have been slightly better in the past. Nonetheless, I’ve been eating at Moby Dick for years and have never been disappointed.

We went to this restaurant for dinner and it was decent middle eastern food. The was more of a fast food style restaurant since you ordered and then you would have to get your food when it was ready. The food was served on Styrofoam plates and plastic cutlery. We did not mind it being super casual. The pricing was good for the portions as well and the bread was yummy.

They have consistently gotten worse as the chain has expanded. I’m an Iranian who was born in Iran, and I was impressed with the quality of Moby Dick’s food when I moved to America in 2003. Granted that as the company grows and sets up franchises, they won’t be able to hire Persians only. BUT you’d think that they would have corporate training on how to include the traditional sides. I had to ask for butter for the rice, raw onions, and the sumac and sabzi have been forever absent. Tonight, after being once again served subpar food, I called the restaurant and asked to speak to the manager. Lo and behold, he is a Latino who speaks English poorly, let alone understand how kabob should be served. After spending way too long telling him how my order was insufficiently fulfilled, I asked for the corporate office number. Guess what? It’s a 202. I hate this place. It’s no longer authentic Persian. It’s crap.

Used to be good quality food. Now it looks like they serve you piss and shit on a plate.

The yogurt for the pita bread was very bland and tastes watery. The chicken was okay but the rice was bland and the dressing for the salad had absolutely no flavor. The cashier was so nice and attentive too bad she can’t persuade us to go back.

Love me some Moby Dick’s! Best Kabobs in Northern Virginia, hands down! I love the food here, the dining area is nice when not taking carry out home or back to the office. Service is quick from order to leaving/table. Kabobs are delicious, flavorful and not dry. Bread is delicious and hard to pass up! I almost always get a lamb and beef kabob combination. Delicious and mouth watering every time I go. Staff is always upbeat and friendly asking how you are doing and its been a long time. They seem to know the regulars who come in often but are just as friendly to those who are coming for the first time. Give Moby Dick’s a try(there are many locations throughout the area), you won’t regret it as I’ve been to multiple locations with the same great food and service.

It was okay. I’d eat here again. I ordered the Friday lunch special(braised beef in some cilantro-parsley stew kind of thing). it came with rice and yogurt-cucumber sauce, and I got pita bread and a shirazi salad(cucumber-tomato salad) as well. Some critique: I feel like they could’ve used a fattier cut of beef, or cooked it slower and longer, because this braised beef was a bit dry and tough. The stew had an interesting exotic flavor to it, but I’m not sure how popular it would be to others’ tastes. It had a somewhat bitter herb taste from the cilantro and parsley, plus some beefy flavor. Aside from that, the other items were good. I might just stick with the kabob combos next time.

I consider myself a pretty picky eater and I love this place. First of all the Humus is the best you will find in the area. The only place that rivals it is Havabite in Fairfax. I would definitely recommend the chicken sandwich wrap but the other dishes are usually done very well also. The food is a little more bland then what you get at other kebab restaurants but it is in keeping with Persian food, which is traditionally not as spicy. The yogurt sauce they serve is also very delicious as well as the bread. If for some reason you were to get bread that is not as fresh as I’ve heard has happened to people sometimes, just ask for fresh bread and they will usually accommodate you. The food takes about 10 to 15 minutes after you order unless you go during their dinner rush. At that time it might take closer to 25 minutes so I usually call in an order ahead of time. For a reasonably priced, tasty meal on the healthier side this place is definitely one of my favorite choices.

My favorite and best place for Persian food. This is a must if you haven’t tried it yet. Lamb and beef kebabs are awesome, yet the chicken is very tender.

My friends love it so I tried it twice. First time, I had a salad kind of thing. The flavor of the chicken was good but the bread was stale and the salad overly chunky and tasted like dirt. The second time I went for a rice dish, which wasn’t as bad. Maybe I’m used to another style of kabobs, but I hope not to return here. Customer service: rude the first visit, fine the second.

Best hummus! I love their soup. It’s just unfortunate that it isn’t available all year round. I also love the chicken platter. I like how you get a salad, and their marvelous rice! I love the tatziki and the incredible deserts! The veggie rice platter and the sandwiches are huge but amazing! I can always get leftovers!

Good Old Moby-Dick. This was one of the first persian restaurants that I was introduced to from a very young age when we first came to the states. All these years, they’re still around and their quality is still good. I used to love walking into this restaurant and being greeted by a friendly persian smile and persian greetings. That has changed obviously over the years as more Moby-Dick locations have opened up. I’m giving them 3 stars because I feel that their quality has changed a bit. I ordered their chengeh with chicken kabobs on salad. I also asked for an extra skewer of kubideh but some how I ended up with 2 salad orders, one with just chicken and the other with all three meats? I didn’t even realize when the guy told me it would be $ 30. Their chicken is probably the BEST that i’ve had ANYWHERE, and i’ve been to ALOT of middle eastern restaurants. Their meat on the other hand… mmmm EH… very tough and very dry in my opinion. It took a lot of the chutney sauce to help with the meat. Their salads are good, has the usual, lettuce, feta cheese(yummy) tomatoes, onions. They have this new salad that also includes walnuts and raisins. I will always go back here because they are one of the few persian restaurants that still make their own bread! However, i don’t think I’m going to be trying their meat anymore, i’ll just stick to chicken! One last thing, I have to compliment them on their new logo and marketing! They’ve done a great job!

The food here is delicious! What a great find here in Centreville area, but why the 3 stars? I heard about this place through a friend. I know how picky she can be, so this place must be good! My husband knew about this place and never mentioned about going here! On to the good! — loved their ground beef kabobs on basmati rice, with a slice of butter and some tomatoes. Simple, yet delicious in flavor. — homemade hummus with their handmade naan was an icing to the cake! I saw the guy pounding the naan and baking the bread. The bad? — if I had to come up with one, I guess the service was a tad bit slow. But I had the little one to keep me busy while my husband and I waited for our food. — my husband went on an evening night and it was majorly busy. So if I were you, order in advance or come in after they open. Anything else? — yes, we have been back twice already(together), and I’m looking for more deliciousness in my belly!

Pros: Great food and friendly atmosphere and cool baker. Cons: depending on who’s at the register they either charge you a lot more than it usually is. And their is no attempt to be friendly. Example: my mom always orders from there so she always pays around $ 16. But when I go there and order the same thing she always orders it jumps to freaking $ 18 – 20. It only happens when the older lady does this not sure why.

First time here. I ordered the hummus as an appetizer and the steak, salad and rice combo. The hummus, in my opinion, was bland and tasteless. The steak was tough and had an «ok» flavor, rice was soft but had a salty flavor, the salad dressing had strong vinegar taste. The dinning area is compact. It was really busy and filled with many groups. The ordering line can extend to the tables which is uncomfortable having people hovering over while you eat. Staff were friendly. I’ve eaten at a several other places, not as frequently but in comparison to other places the food here wasn’t that great in my opinion.

Moby Dicks House of Kabob is a great go to. They have large portions of servings that taste great and fresh. I’ve been to this location multiple times and usually during the lunch rush, and I’m in and out in minutes with exactly what I ordered.

Grilled chicken and steak kabobs, served with buttery rice and naan? Yes indeed. Try the Moby’s Super Combo — it’s plenty to share(two of us split it), and order some extra naan and yogurt/cucumber sauce(like tzatziki, but thinner). Don’t forget to add on some hummus — it’s fresh, smooth and some of the best in the area. Going for lunch? Try one of the sandwiches served on pita bread with a side of the yogurt/cucumber sauce. The sandwiches are huge and filling. I love the Falafel Platter with rice and salad too. Eating in service isn’t fast — usually a 10 – 15 minute wait, as the meats are cooked to order.

I was visiting a friend up in NoVA, and he and his dad brought me here when I said I was in the mood for Persian food(they were both Persian). I will admit that I was a little disappointed in the limited menu, because I was interested in some of the fancier dishes with the crazier rices, some stews, or things like tahdig. This is a fast casual restaurant with mostly koobideh and kabob, as well as some salads and sandwiches. Granted, I came for dinner, and the website shows lunch specials with dishes and polo more to my liking. I also got to try bottled mint-flavored doogh for the first time. We probably should have tried some of the homemade doogh, but the bottled one was okay too. It was a very interesting carbonated yogurt drink. A little bit salty for my tastes, as I am used to the sweeter Asian yogurt drinks(Yakult, Calpico, Lassi, etc.). My koobideh was indeed very tender and juicy, and the rice was nice an fluffy. The portion was also quite big with some excellent grilled tomatoes. The complimentary bread was also nice and hot, as well as pleasantly but unexpectedly crisp! The house yogurt sauce was also excellent. Overall, the quality of the food was great, and the service was decent. I just wish they had more Persian options for dinner!
