Had such a great grass fed burger, then mysteriously shut down. Nothing has taken its place, either. :(

Awful food. Everything we ordered was pretty much inedible: pizza tasted like cardboard, salad dressings had no flavor and fries were cold. Do not order food here. It is nice that they support local music, but they need to get the kitchen in order. Why do Marin residents, particularly in Fairfax, accept such crappy eating establishments?

I had heard of the Sleeping Lady on multiple occasions, from a group I know that go here regularly.(Some of whom love the place). I finally joined them and others late on a sunny Saturday afternoon. It was a pretty large group, so we made reservations well ahead of time. They put us on the back deck; heat lamps kept us toasty as darkness fell. The tap beer list was certainly impressive. I didn’t do an exact count, but they had about 10 craft beers on tap, many of them local. Consequently, the starting point for my rating is 4 stars. I was also excited to see they had the hard-to-find Pliny the Elder on tap, but the keg blew just before I ordered my beer, so there was none for me; and so no extra points given. Sadly, the experience went downhill during our time here. Though the service was friendly, it slowed to a snail’s crawl pretty quickly. Not only did they forget to give our end of the table any menus at the beginning, but those in other tables started receiving their food before we had even ordered. In fact, the time differential became so bad that some people in the group had actually eaten and left before others(myself included) had received their food. I can’t say this has ever happened to me before, even with a group this size.(It wasn’t like they didn’t know we were coming!!) I’m guessing that their kitchen is just too small to handle a sudden volume like this. As for the food itself, I honestly don’t remember how my burger was, since I was so famished that I wolfed it down in a millisecond. All I can recall was the meat was a tad undercooked to my request, and that it was a bit cold… plus they gave me the wrong type of fries(I had ordered sweet potato). The only positive note was they offered some of us an extra, free round of beers as a late apology, but I could not take advantage, since I was driving, and already at my limit.(How about comping our last set of beers instead?) Normally I would give this kind of dismal service performance 2 stars, but based on the great beer list, and my friends’ lofty opinions, I’ll give it a passing grade for now. I imagine I will be back again within the year to give them another chance. Until then.

The service was a little slow but it has a very cute atmosphere and the eggs Benedict was fantastic. Crisp English muffin, healthy slice of ham, and perfectly poached eggs. The home fries were also great and were much better than the hash browns. My friends got the veggie Benedict and the breakfast burrito and said they were both great too. Coffee was fine. No lattes available but the drip was nice and strong and constantly refilled!

I stopped here the other night for dinner. there were a few people sitting at the tables watching the open mic night but overall not too busy. I grabbed a seat at the Bar and ordered a beer and Bleu cheeseburger. it was about 9pm and I was the only person eating in the restaurant. I heard the Kitchen ring the bell after 15 minutes. I recognized that it was my food and watched it sit for another 15 minutes as no one grabbed it. after 15 minutes a waitress grabbed it and put it on the other side of the bar, where it sat for another 15 minutes. The bar tender was casually texting and hanging out. After she noticed my food sitting on the counter she said oh &^$* and put it down in front of me and walked away. No silverware no napkin no condiments and no drink. I managed to grab her a few minutes later and asked for these things. another 10 minutes later she still hadn’t grabbed them. she was still texting. I began to eat my old soggy burger and soggy fries. it was my last bite of my meal when she again said oh ^#*$ and brought me my condiments. I usually eat at the sleeping lady or the pizza shop when im out enjoying one of fairfax’s awesome bars. I know the service at sleeping lady tends to be subpar. But this was over the top. I wont be coming back

The Lady has an incredible atmosphere and is a warm place for music. Bartenders are nice as can be. Great selection of beer. The food: I have given this several tries and the food does not match up. The floor service is slow. I recommend a few beers and some good music. Ukulele on Sat. and Irish music on Sun.

We are new in town. We went there to have a family dinner. The food is disappointing. The fries are cold, and the burgers are dry and part of the burgers are cold, half hot. My smoked salmon pasta is around $ 15, which is very average, and I didn’t see salmon at all. Our family members don’t recommend this restaurant. Go somewhere for food!

Ohhhh what to say, what to say… HORRIBLE! The service was close to non-existent, the food was ehhhh, the Caesar salad was underdressed, actually I’m not sure there was even dressing on there. My grilled hamburger steak was extremely over peppered, and my «asparagus» was in actuality green beans with way too much garlic(coming from a garlic lover!) stay away!

Hello and welcome to the place of good food and live music. The pizza’s are absolutely scrumptious and the Chicken parmesan is yummy. The Service is friendly and attentive, and who does’t like some live entertainment? Ah, yes this place is pretty fab O. So the next time you want a good meal and want some entertainment head here because you definitely will leave with a smile.

A few years ago, I started a Meetup group with the intention of combining great hikes with great post-hike watering holes. At first it was easy, because our numbers were few and any pub or brewery could accommodate us. And we tried A LOT of places that we thought might have some decent combination of beer selection, food and services. And I mean a lot — in every county in the Bay Area. But as our numbers increased, so did our standards. So we started doing these little scouting ventures, where we’d send three or four people into a place that we thinking about scheduling for the whole group and casually check it out. We figured if they didn’t do a good job with a small group, they would gag with a large one. The day we first went to the Sleeping Lady, in fact, it was a backup choice — one of our members, a guy who owns a popular brewery in the East Bay — came with us to check our the beer at another location, but we were unimpressed. So we just kept walking down the street. Here’s what happened: The Sleeping Lady blew us away. The beer was awesome. The food was as god as I’d ever experienced in a pub-type establishment. But the clincher was the service: We happened by during an Irish music festival, and the place was packed. So we figured it was going to painful. Just the opposite — we were seated and had beer and munchies in front of us before we knew what hit us. But the acid test, as far as I was concerned, was still ahead. By that point, we had hundreds of members and were getting 30+ people on every hike(we eventually capped it at 33). A lot of the places that we gave the thumbs-up on the scouting hikes got eliminated from our rotation after they choked with a big group. Instead, the Sleeping Lady set the gold standard for us. And here’s how I knew: after our hikes, our members post their comments online. Until we tried The Sleeping Lady, about 90% of the comments tended to be about the trail. After that hike, about 75% of the comments were about the pub — and they were all raves. And that’s pretty much been the case every time we’ve gone back. In fact, I bent my own rule for the group. In order to keep a healthy rotation of trails and post-trail watering holes, I vowed that we would hike any trail or hit any restaurant more than twice a year. I’ve stuck my guns on the trail part, but we’ve now been The Sleeping Lady SIXTIMES in the past year.

Food wasn’t bad, our waitress was awful. We saw our drinks poured at the bar and then watched them sit there for 5 minutes while the waitress BS’d with a co-worker. After food was consumed, waitress went back to her convo, didn’t ask if we wanted anything else, didn’t offer dessert and didn’t bring our bill until we asked for it. This isn’t a Michelin establishment, but c’mon, just cut the chit-chat and do your job, yo. Ya feel me?

I love the sleeping lady. My favorite place for acoustic music. The food is average but the beer selection is great. The service is friendly and it is a very home town atmosphere. I recommend the warm goat cheese salad from the menu.

OK, I’m gonna blow the lid right off this 1. The Sleeping Lady has Pliny the Elder on tap… & most craft beer enthusiasts who would understand the significance of that statement don’t have a clue of its availability here. That’s what I concluded after the Fairfax Brewfest ended. On that day, there were probably hundreds of festival-goers wandering the streets of Fairfax looking for some more great beer, but nobody else really showed up at the Sleeping Lady. Sure, you can get some really good beers at Gestalt Haus & Iron Springs(which was where everyone else went), but this is Pliny the Elder. Guaranteed, if those beer-swilling hordes from the brewfest knew it was here, they all would’ve come looking for it. Good thing they didn’t know. Because between myself & my beer nerd buddy, we each had 2 pints of Pliny before they ran out. Here’s the scoop: they get their delivery of Pliny every Tuesday & are usually out by Sunday. The Sleeping Lady is most known for its music & they serve food too. But that wasn’t the draw for me. I didn’t catch any music & I ate some onion rings which were OK. Really, for me, it’s about the Pliny. So, if in your travels, you find yourself in Fairfax, after Tuesday & before Sunday, & you want a pint or 2 of 1 of the best beers on Earth, stop by the Sleeping Lady. That’s what I’ll be doing.

We stumbled to the Sleeping Lady after the Fairfax Brew Fest, in need of for some more refreshments because the Beer Fest does not have enough brew. What brought us in was a sign outside that says simply«Russian River Pliny on tap». Yes, Pliny on tap anywhere is going to sell it. Just like that. What Sleeping Lady has going for it is a nice shady patio in the back with some 8 tables. The atmosphere is very relaxed, almost like hanging out in a friend’s backyard for a lazy Sunday BBQ. I guess this place is very popular in the area for their Open Mic nights. We missed that whole segment as we were either too early or too late. The service was decent… and yes they did have Pliny on tap. That is until we depleted the last of the keg contents and they actually ran out. But those two pints were still better than anything at the brew fest. And all good kegs must come to an end… unfortunately. The food at Sleeping Lady was mediocre at best. We didn’t have anything too fancy; just some fries, onion rings, and pizza. While nothing tasted bad, they can clearly do better, even in this segment. The fries looked like shoestrings out of the frozen isle at grocery store and sweet potatoes were not much better either. Pizza was alright, but reminded me of the pizza you can make at home in your kitchen oven. If there wasn’t for Pliny on tap and the nice patio I wouldn’t likely come back to The Sleeping Lady unless I live in the area. However, if I am in Fairfax, the weather is nice, and Pliny is still being poured I will be back.

Great place for live music. There’s always an interesting variety of performers that run the musical gamut! The food is okay, nothing special. Typical pub food. Only wish they had a more interesting beer selection. They could take a cue from what the Gestalt Haus keeps on tap.

Crowded as all get out. But if you’re lucky enough to get a seat on a Saturday around 2ish… be delighted by a Ukulele JAM and some seriously yummy food!

Last December I brought my boyfriend to Fairfax, my hometown, to see the old stomping grounds and watch a movie at the Fairfax Theater. We only had about 70 minutes before the show started, so we stopped in at what used to be one of my family’s favorite establishments(Café Amsterdam). Although the name had changed to The Sleeping Lady, the restaurant otherwise looked much the same so I hoped it would still be good. WRONG. They put us at a tiny table right in front of the door, so we were treated to chilly blasts every time anyone walked in or out – which they did frequently, as a large group of musicians were setting up to perform. We got the impression that these musicians were used to having this table available as a place to set down their stuff. Instead, they heaped their drums all around us, bumping into me and making us feel like we were in the way. Although we told our waitress when we sat down that we had a movie to get to, no one came back to take our order(or even offer water) for about 20 minutes. Eventually we received a basket of bread that was so dry I almost choked on it. The food did arrive quickly after we ordered. However, the ingredient quality seemed extremely low, given the prices and«hippie organic» vibe – processed white-flour bun, a hamburger patty that tasted like it had been frozen, shredded iceburg lettuce, and bland sauce on my boyfriend’s pasta. We were really disappointed and only finished our meal because we were hungry.

I checked in here and now they want me to write a review. I was just here to play some music and the only thing I can comment on is the pint. The pint of Guinness of course. Mother’s milk,

Cool musicians from all over the area meets with a wine, beer and cider bar. Their cider on tap is great — Manger’s or something like that. Food is good but a little too much on the heavy side. When there’s good music it really draws a crowd!
